Karma’s Hat 3107 Posted December 24, 2020 It's a been a long ride. I've been on here for 11 years, close to 12. Everything has to come to an end and I honestly can't say where I would be without this place. Without any hesitation I can say that Monochrome Heaven, or Tainted World as it was when I first joined, changed my life. I'm genuinely curious how that makes people like Zess and Ito feel that they've had such a significant impact on a person's life just by making this place and running for all these years. The current trajectory on which my life is on was set by all the friendships I've made in this place over the years, and through everything I went through this place was a constant companion. Zess, Bear/Sumostig, Junna, Shizu, Whirlingblack especially have been significant to me and I'm grateful. Who knows how deep I'd be in normiedom without these people influencing my taste in the way they did. If it wasn't Christmas with the family I wasn't as tipsy as I was, I'd probably have a whole lot more to say about this than I do now. Me and Whirlingblack started really hanging out proper in the beginning of 2017 when I decided to just bail Finland. I stayed at his place for some time and I don't remember what we did together, but what I do know for sure is that it was the kind of debauchery what we would we doing together and independently to this day. Shizu is another person that by his existence has assured me I'm first of all not entirely alone in world with my tastes and interests. But it wasn't just the few people that one stuck around with all these years that made the place, but also all the characters that've come and gone over the years. There is so much stuff to dig out of the annals of monochrome heaven and tainted world that in my case it'd be a book. What the new people on here don't know, is that this place had a tremendously active chat back in the days that was integrated into the website. Almost every was there at one point, and during its heydays absolutely nothing was going on my life, so I was there almost every minute or every single day. In my country you have to take dancing lessons for the prom for like six months, and in 2012 when I went through that thing most of that time I'd be giving live status updates throughout the whole experience. Before and after I'd be sitting in Mcdonald's drinking coffee and it became a running joke that I was always online, always people watching in Mcdonald's. Probably some of my best memories from the board are from the chat years. Shoutout to everyone who was there to experience it So much stuff has happened on this board that new people have no idea, because so much has been lost to chat logs, private messages and purges over the years. The forum as it stands rn is only a tiny fraction of all that had taken place. I'm too drunk right now to remember any of this stuff, but it means so much to me and I'll cherish all of these memories forever. Here is some of people I've met irl over the years from here in a random order wb, marcus, jigsaw, shizu, saltofstones, allisapp, panda, pretsy, hyura, slsr, stylelover, 237q, gaz, tokage and many, many others I've met for a minute or two during gigs. I proofread none of this Those who don't have me anywhere can follow me either on here https://twitter.com/SoderlundAleksi or just add me on fb Aleksi Söderlund Everyone who I've shared this place with. I love you all. Good bye and thanks for the memories, all those i've laughed or fought with. 1 14 1 Elazmus, CAT5, suji and 13 others reacted to this

WhirlingBlack 1043 Posted December 24, 2020 MH truly has been a special place for a lot of us. I vividly remember the chatbox era and how it was almost like a society on its own with various people filling different roles and social structures and friendships forming and failing due to drama or other things. So much time was invested not just chatting but also just reading and enjoying the conversations. Most of the personalities I remember well from the forum come from this era. Gotten a lot of good and lasting friendships through this forum and I will be forever be grateful to MH for it. Reciprocal shoutout to@Karma’s Hat, we started out on quite bad terms in the early days but became good friends over time, now we have met a lot of times and have a blast every time. I've met a lot of our members IRL and I've almost never had a bad experience. Shoutouts to @Biopanda, @hyura, @Takadanobabaalien, @Jigsaw9, @Seiji, @Tokage, @allisapp , @digi,@spockittyand ALL of you I've talked to or interacted with throughout the years here. Some people have come and gone, others are still a part of my life, but I hope you all know you helped form who I am today. If anyone else want to drop their appreciations for the forum and the people this is the place to do so! 1 5 1 Seiji, hyura, Jigsaw9 and 4 others reacted to this
Takadanobabaalien 3607 Posted December 25, 2020 (edited) I was initially just gonna make like a tree and leave, but I figured I can't ghost out on writing something here. Everything I feel for this forum has been stated above, it's been so long that MH is just such a natural part of my life. It will definitely feel strange once it's gone. I have, just like most people been here since the TW days so this has very much been a place I've grown up at online. I'd like to thank all members and all staff members, and then: Shout out to my main nordic gang: @Karma’s Hat @WhirlingBlack gang gang OG lastfm crew: @Peace Heavy mk II @Senedjem Arithmetica/Laura Can't believe we've known each other since we were teenagers, thanks for always sticking by my side lmao. Jigsaw9 6783 Posted December 25, 2020 Truly the best of times! Can't believe I almost forgot about how fun and lively the chat was here, and of course the Certified Dispo McDonald's Live Reports too, lmao. Already left my remarks in the closing thread but again, thank you everyone for everything, it is without a doubt that from 1st January I'll be feeling a bit like a delirious invalid returning from war without this place (even if we already have other means of communicating)... maybe not the best analogy but whatever, lol. Jigsaw9 6783 Posted December 25, 2020 FUCK IT, DOUBLE POST. Figured since I'm stuck with my old PC now I might as well do a deep dive in hopes of coming up with some funny images from days of yore. Unfortunately it didn't yield a haul as big as I anticipated...but anyway, here are some things I dug up that I found funny (or that were funny at one point in time). While MH closing got us like... ...let us think of the good times. Remember when Akane from D.I.D. expressed his religious views, even tho nobody asked? But he wasn't the only one to be brilliant on social media. THE HAKKIN were pretty lowkey but they managed this whopper once: Remember the MOO album from DEG? Or DOGEMA from the GazettE? Or... (ok I know I'm the only one who still finds doge funny in 2020 idc) Anyway, when it comes down to it, love is the answer. Let that special someone in your life know your true feelings. ...or you can just get to the point. Sadly I don't have many screenshots from MH itself, but for some reason I kept this gem by @Tokage: Closing off, let's remember that through all the good, bad or strange times it has always just been about the music, maaan. We're just a bunch of people going crazy over some (mostly) random underground fan-exploiting-or-worse weirdos who probably don't even know or suspect we even exist. Opinions are opinions, no need make a big fuss over them, but... I think we can agree that visual kei at its peak has made us all feel a bit of what @Shaolan974 once formulated that has stuck with me to this day: Adios once again, MH. 7 2 1 2 1 Karma’s Hat, suji, Takadanobabaalien and 10 others reacted to this

Rize 1593 Posted December 26, 2020 I've been here for 10 years, at first just a bit of lurking here and there and when the chat feature came I've always been there each single day to have a chat with everyone and to cheer people up as I've been known as the positive fairy who cheers everyone up I've got to know quite some people here who I'm still in touch with^^ (after I came back after 5 years). I think the most memorable thing was: That thing with Akane (Para:noir/D.I.D) where everyone went nuts for some specific comment about religions or something. I remember @Karma’s Hat used to had it in the signature >,< My duties which I did for the staff team back in the days. Also the end of the year staff music reviews was really nice organized and fun to do Honestly I've always been quite a introvert person but thanks to you all I've become a more open person both online and irl I hope to stay in touch with everyone! I was here for just over two years and they were a wonderful two years. Until my WiFi mishaps, I actually managed to log in every single day! Usually when I join a new site I get bored of it quickly but not here. I spoke to some awesome people (and some not so awesome, but they made me laugh), learnt a lot and got many new interests. I'm on my phone outside a closed shop that fsr still has its WiFi going and my hands are cold so I'll keep this short and sweet but it really was an amazing experience being here. Doesn'tEvenGoHere 121 Posted December 27, 2020 I lurked for a long time before making an account, but even then I still wasn’t very active. Even so, monochrome heaven was always my go-to place for news and new bands. I found so many of my current favorite bands because of this place and I feel so thankful for it. My current life revolves around a band I found on here through the “new band has formed” section. And I was able to find my second favorite band at an event where my current favorite band was playing, so again it feels like I have to thank monochrome heaven indirectly for that too. It trips me out to think that without monochrome heaven, I might’ve not found my favorite band (or it might’ve taken me a lot longer) and I wouldn’t be following them around right now. I feel so grateful this place existed. Something so small about it has impacted my life so much. It hurts to see this place go. 2 Jigsaw9 and platy reacted to this
Kaleidoscope 195 Posted December 28, 2020 For me it has to be the second karaoke contest on Tainted World back then, hardly anyone participated, but retrospectively it had a huge impact on my life and hobbies. Seiji 156 Posted December 29, 2020 My first contacts with the forum were through googling lyrics I think. From then on I met some really nice people, who became a big part of my life and who would motivate me in the things I did and still do. The forum became part of my everyday life as Tainted World, the short-lived Toasted Waffles period and in the end as Monochrome Heaven. Gonna be weird not coming here every day to lurk and to make an occasional post somewhere. futoshi92 34 Posted December 29, 2020 As much as I don't really remember how exactly I discovered MH, I've been having a really good time since I joined here back in 2011, when I was 19. My best memories, aside from discussing about music were: - making a lot of threads about Japanese heavy metal - a lot of awesome conversation with users I don't see around, especially Chianti, Ronluna and Chibicco San. If you guys are still somewhere around, under a different name or not, I hope you're doing well - spectaculating a lot about Diru's "Dum Spiro Spero" (MOO meme anyone? 🤣 ) and Maximum the Hormone's "Yoshuu Fukushuu" I only feel bad, because between 2014-2018 I've kinda abandoned and even forgot about MH, I don't know why 😢 But coming back here was such a great feeling! Thank you fellow MHers once again, and let's keep the community alive at J-Rock One! 2 platy and Jigsaw9 reacted to this
Ro plz 1290 Posted December 29, 2020 Ey my nigga. J yet because MH is closing, don’t think I ain’t forget about you giving me a warning because of “white supremacy” @CAT5 I will always laugh at this. But Ive had the pleasure of talking to a lot of you guys over the years. Some of which I’ve reconnected with since Fukkatsu such as @WhirlingBlackand @EzraEroguro. I remember talking to @Biopanda , Val, and some other folk in the Skype chat till the wee hours of the morning. I remember having the biggest crush on @allisapp for awhile. Meeting @Zeus’s soft spoken and cool ass last year will always be one of my highlights. I remember cracking up at @Jigsaw9’s puns. Man so many memories to bring up...and I’m starting to tear up. Even the not so great times here I’ll cherish to en extent. @blackdoll you are a trip. But passionate. @nekkichi, even after the back and fourth me and you have had, I’ve come to warm up to your persona. @LestatI apologize for lashing out at you the way I did back in the day. You were cool to chat with on regular basis. And I hope you’re well. Rest of you, I enjoyed the convos and and music we’ve shared! I’ve become more privy to hella bands and stuck around this scene much longer than I intended to because of this place. I can’t wait to eventually chat with you guys more in our new home! Mods/admins: Thanks for holding shit down! I’ve watched Batsu and Fukkatsu fold into itself due to lack of proper leadership. Things weren’t always perfect here either but y’all put your best foot forward when it was time to and shit got better. It’s sad that MH is ending but this is honestly the best way it could go out. A lot of that is due to you guys. Idk how many of y’all are transferring over but just in case some of y’all don’t, your services were greatly appreciated! 2 3 1 Jigsaw9, CAT5, platy and 3 others reacted to this
violetchain 912 Posted December 30, 2020 Oh, I miss Lestat. Was cool to see someone else in the world who both liked VK and unironically enjoyed the band Tigertailz. She had a lovely writing style as well. I've always been a fairly casual poster, but I've had a lot of fun browsing around this forum over the years. I love watching the development of threads about new bands, in particular. Watching people try to guess whether they'll be good or flop from only a photo and a 30-second teaser, or watching the hype slowly build or die over the weeks always makes it fun to visit the news section. That story about Kawaii_Minpha discreetly farting to try to get a masturbating neighbour to go away was also one of the strangest things I've ever seen on a forum. Lol, even if that person was just trolling, that's a mental image that has really stuck with me. 😂 1 Jigsaw9 reacted to this
suji 8317 Posted December 30, 2020 M-H will disband at 2021/01/01 due to losing confidence of visual kei since the same date, and their alter-ego band "JROCK ONE" will commence activities they will still search for visual-kei news in the future but will not post anywhere in the near future PS1: M-H people are talented enough to find news, and thus visual kei no longer needs them anymore PS2: that mod, psychonnect_rozen, and vk stan twitter/reddit/facebook groups should be happy for this news PS3: hope that this thread will not be deleted or edited by that mod, who is not willing to delete other threads upon his request --- Sorry I wrote a fucking novel ;V Spoiler I joined Monochrome Heaven in 2014, as I was a month away from high school graduation. At 19, I was very much influenced by online culture and also had been on a previous forum that shut down very suddenly earlier that year. Desperate for an outlet for my active mind, I opened up a Twitter months earlier, but at the time, it was just private thoughts that I used to write about in my old diary and online catfights over nothing. As I found visual kei on youtube, I was looking for somewhere to talk about my newfound interest rather than Twitter or Tumblr. I got my Megaromania downloads from a blogspot called Visual-Scandal, and I wondered: how are they getting all this shit? I always saw the name credited as "... @ Monochrome-Heaven" come up a thousand times, and the chatbox that was on the site mentioned them constantly. To add on to my Megaromania fandom, I also signed up for an Under Code Production news site called We Love UCP, which had all the info on UCP related bands, and apparently there were users from this mysterious place that would use this site. Curious, I lurked on MH a bit, as I felt like I snuck into a VIP-only club or something, and ultimately joined under the name "dyxanadu", taken after my love for Mana/Moi dix Mois. However, after a bit of mocking from others, I settled on the name, "hitsuji-hime" taken after just becoming a full fledged MERRY fan, which was a better choice anyway. As soon as I had found the download section - this was before it was hidden from the site from noobs - it felt like a fucking goldmine. It was like I was getting dibs on stuff that nobody else was getting yet, and it surprised me to know that it was users from Monochrome Heaven - not the vk blogspot - that were contributing these downloads for us. At the time, I was greedy and I wanted more, more, more, so I downloaded all that I could, plus old school bands on Evil en Lucifer (✝) and various others, and requested more stuff I wanted. However, as I was fresh out of high school, I had little money I saved up from part time jobs, so I couldn't really get anything myself and I certainly had no clue how to get stuff from Japan. Even in this modern age, I didn't even think that was possible. By that point, people thought I was a leech because I would bump my thread every single day for the hope of a download link to answer my calls, and then get pissed off when there was nothing, or just a bump from someone else. As MH was also a hotspot for drama, I would also land in a shitstorm over downloads and various other things that popped up that I didn't like. At that time, I was a bitch on MH and Twitter and was not afraid to say my opinion on things I didn't like or rant about things that I felt upset me at the time. I was also a hardcore liberal so that definitely didn't help with taking jokes or hearing from the other side. My offline life was also pretty hard on me around this time, so I took out all my frustrations online where I could shittalk people without any serious consequences. Eventually, I crossed the line over Lycaon disbanding, and I got the ban later in 2015. Having been banned from my previous forum years back for the same shitty behavior, I was so fucking bitter that I created 2 different sock accounts and of course both were banned pretty quickly. Cue the shittalking of Monoshit Haven on twatter. Of course, I also developed an interest in the news section as well, as it had current news on certain bands that I never saw on Shattered Tranquility or any other jrock news site. In fact, it was the one place where news would break for the English speaking fandom, and that S-T and others would get some of it from there. Trombe was certainly a character, and I respected him even until the very end. He had knowledge on all these bands, the popular ones and the "no1curr" bands, almost like insider info, and I was truly intrigued. I began contributing to news posts under my first account, and then my 3rd sock account called "midi:nette", which wasn't discovered to be mine until later on because CAT5 is a snitch (just kidding ♥). Then, there was a time when I and many others wanted to contribute more by starting our own news threads, and Trombe was having none of it. He would either post an asshole reply to a thread, or delete a thread altogether and make to where it looked like he wrote it himself. That happened to me when I reported news on Arlequin, and my thread was quickly changed to a Trombe post. I screencapped my findings and showed the mods, and Trombe was gone for good. To this day, I still feel bad about removing one of the top posters of MH, but at the same time, we finally had the freedom to post on the news forum with almost no backlash, other than myself when there's a grammar error ♥ Anyway, back to my situation. I made my 3rd sockpuppet account a little after my other two were banned, but this time, I was smart about keeping it secret - somewhat - and didn't make it totally fucking obvious, as I was using an IP from my college wifi. During that time, I remember all the drama with Rarezhut's sponsorship, blackdoll's Lycaon delusions, and Minpha's kawaii jrocker perversions that led him to terrorize MH and shut down the download section - to the general public at least. After the dust settled, I believe this was around the time I was discovered as I had a spat with someone over a dumb band name, and thus, I contacted CAT5 over the staff's supposed bias against me since he was the one who gave me the hammer the first time. We both had a long talk as I genuinely wanted to repair my reputation after having been shamed and pushed out from the one place that I actually loved, and thankfully he was very understanding and shockingly gave me a second chance. I also made sure to keep my word as I was on hall monitor patrol and reported every little disturbance in the forum, whether it was a double post or shitposting drama that the mods didn't catch. Fast forward to CAT and I being besties and suggesting that I apply for a mod position, and then I end up writing about fucking Jrock Wiki in the fucking bullshit application. I'm still shocked I got in. As I became a moderator, there was lots of praise, with some voicing their disapproval through the random thread by softtweeting me (is that what they call it?) and DMs wanting to know of my past. Yeah, I was that one crazy bitch who got banned, and guess what, I run all yall bitches now! Who gets to say that often??? At the end of the day, that was the end of my redemption arc, and I'm still working on myself to this day. Throughout my 6 years here, I've experienced a lot of hurt and comfort, plus shit-stirring and tea-spilling, and learned a lot about myself. Unlike any other fandom I've been a part of, I've also made actual lasting friendships among people that I genuinely like and can actually talk about my interests with. Those friendships will always stay with me, even those that have since been lost, and to all the crazy stalkers who came after me for a bit. The initial announcement of MH closing in the secret staff chat hit me like a bus and made me contemplate my life as I know it. As the day draws closer, it definitely feels like the end of an era. I can say with confidence that there is literally no other place like it. There's no other place that will teach me about Madeth gray'll and Beyonce, the MH PREMIUM ACCOUNT, #ResurrectVK, Yohio and Pokemon, and farting to run off your perverted neighbor. As the top shitposters started to leave and activity began to dwindle, I felt that the forum was really coming to a decline, but I was optimistic for the future but also in denial as well. MH was truly the place I called another home and was part of my daily routine since my college days when I would either be done with homework or procrastinate a large project by researching bands for upcoming news threads. I also want to put out there that I also feel that I had a part in MH's eventual demise by abusing my power and encouraging political discussion which eventually turned into cringe incel Heaven, and I deeply apologize for that and am working to use Twitter better. Overall, I am excited for what lies beyond Monochrome Heaven - unless that is Bright Light Hell or something - and I wish to see you all again very soon on JROCKONE/Twitter/Discord/vkgy. --- I want to thank: > @CAT5 , the whole staff team, @inartistic, @Serox, @Lestat, @itsukoii, @jibakurei, @metallikita666, @crossparallel, @Piyu Kotodama, @The Moon, @Tetora, @nekkichi, @nostalgia, @Katt, & @Plant for dealing with my dumb ass and sticking with me in the long run ♥ thank you so much > @-timecapsule- for lending me marco rarez and then disappearing from the forum before I can say thank you > @blackdoll for enlightening me with Lycaon/Nicki Minaj mashups and getting me banned from MH the first time >Junna/Yuuze for letting me in ur shitty alt forum about politics and scat fiction when I was banned and calling me fucking stupid on twitter over weed <3 >kawaii_minpha for starting a hate campaign against me and inspiring various copycat stalkers >to all those who cancelled me after i converted to conservatism, still love yall ♥ Thank you for everything ♥ xoxo suji 4 8 1 Total Saikou, CAT5, itsukoii and 10 others reacted to this

Took me a while to write something… I know I didn't post much at the end, because I took a break from the internet and especially social media. I don't know if people really recognize me, since I am here only sporadically, despite being signed since a long time. I admit, I like lurking more than actually talking to other people. I still took part in some discussions and being the weird introvert that I am, I usually regretted voicing my stupid opinions afterwards. In the end I didn't delete any posts though, because I feel that's part of forum culture, owning up to the bullshit you say, even if it's cringe and letting it stay on the internet. Some disputes and lovely banter here was funny though and it fills me with a strange fuzzy feeling to know that i have been part of some fandom drama. It's like being part of an old folk tale, you know? Now I wonder how much of the drama will be even remembered in 10 years… Honestly, a year ago or so I believed MH would stay for much longer, since the forum managed to outlive most other de-centralized communities and websites. Seems I was wrong and it comes to an end sooner than I thought. I know there's a new community on discourse, but I have to admit, I don't like social media sites and centralized web hubs and places. I think discourse is a better alternative than having nothing, but MH's UI was miles better. MH also feels so much more personal… I cannot explain it. I just don't really feel the same thing when I go online on sites like reddit, facebook, etc. Everything's quite dull and surface level, particularly on FB. VK fandom communities on other sites are also rather meh… Anyway, before I start writing bullshit, I just want to thank all the people who kept the site alive for more than a decade. I discovered a lot of great bands and music here, some of the discussions were entertaining to read. Hope you are all doing fine, despite the train wreck of a year we had. 3 5 WhirlingBlack, platy, CAT5 and 5 others reacted to this
Furik 832 Posted December 30, 2020 Here's some gems I found from my old Photobucket. These have to be at least 10 years old. I reup'd on imgur because Photobucket sucks now. Im too lazy to post east image individually so here's an album I made. https://imgur.com/a/qSVr9Px 2 Jigsaw9 and platy reacted to this
allisapp 303 Posted December 31, 2020 (edited) I swear I felt my heart breaking when I read about this site's time to be buried. While I haven't been active here for years now, so freaking many of you will always have a special place in my heart. While I must admit that I have forgotten so many names, I still remember all IRL meetings, good ol' MSN and Skype chats and all the amusing drama. I have lost so many nights of sleeping when I have had much nicer time chatting with you all, or browsing threads. Even after years I still automatically click the bookmark of this site at least once a month, and it always makes me smile to see so many familiar names. I have gained so many IRL and online, even Facebook friends, even got my first relationship out of this site. 😅 As I said, I have pretty shitty memory so I don't remember names, but I'd like to think that everyone who matters to me, and has helped me with problems and even growing up, you know who you are. I love you all so goddamn much, and I sincerely hope we will stay in contact at least once in a while. And if we happen to come across each other IRL, let's smile and remember all of the lovely happenings we have had all these years. ... Okay, a short shoutout to: @WhirlingBlack, @Karma’s Hat(wtf happened to Disposable duuuuude), @Ro plz, @Jigsaw9, @Biopanda, Val, @CAT5, @paradoxal, pretsy and Craig. There's more of you, but here's a start. See you all ❤️ (DAMMIT, I never hit the 1k msgs that I have been meaning to do for years. I guess time runs out for everything unless it's my grandma, she's a tough lady.)
