A new band, called Də'mëŋ†ɪa Ṃa:liϧ, formed recently consisting of vocalist 「XXX」 and keytarist 『xxx』. While there isn't much known about them at this point, they did announce their first release. PROLOGUE~Shuukyouteki na Mousou~ (プロローグ~宗教的な妄想~) is set to be released on April 16th. Both the design of the cover and its medium (demotape) suggest that we can expect an interesting addition to the new wave of bands that bring back the spirit of 90s visual kei. Actually, they wrote that the mystery guitarist is someone who has been quite well-known for playing the piano. They won't reveal who it is just yet, but they did mention the person is "fxxkin' spicy".

As of today Kyo has been kicked out of Dir en Grey for spending too much time on his second band Sukekiyo. They're still planning on continuing with all currently planned performances but Die will be acting as the vocalist until a full replacement can be found. They will have a mystery member fill his part as a guitarist for lives in the interim. I had to translate this from their Japanese twitter so I might have missed some details and nuances. I'm linking it here so that anyone with a fluent understanding of Japanese can get the full picture. NICOLAS is going to hold another YouTube live! Usually it's them working in the studio or just low key backstage stuff chatting, but they already finished recording. So I think it's going to be an actual livestream live??? but I'm not sure. Judging by the bassist's own comment, it might be a live. They're still rehearsing and everything too so i'm hoping- 😭😭😭

There's a lot of money involved in the production of k-pop so that it sounds good or whatever, but the artists suck lol. Most of them are actually really bad singers, but they fix it in post. So yeah, I don't think it necessarily sounds bad, but it's definitely overrated.

Then the majority of their income comes from their job as a physics professor or as a host, I reckon. This horse has been beaten to death on this forum. When children are starving and people are being droned and shot all over the world with the compliance or the guns of the governments most of us belong to, then even considering to pose downloading music as an ethical question is stupid and embarrassing. There's no reason for anyone here to care, those who download will dl and those who won't won't. I stream bands on spotify when they are there, I bought Anfiel's second album digital because i liked them back then, I wouldn't pay a buck for david if it's able for purchase online because I think they suck, but I'll still dl it to know what it's about — everyone else will continue to do more or less the same unless they have a mental disorder where they live vicariously through their fave bandmen.

Ever considered that maybe not every bandoman is a high school dropout without a real job on the side? Just saying. How would it be hypocritical? I am talking exclusively about digital releases, I straight up said I condone it when it comes to physical releases?

It's a grey area for me. On the one hand, it's way easier to chuck $2.58 at a single on iTunes than it is to spend $30 to have it physically imported from CDJ. But at the same time, sometimes record deals fall through or the band splits and then their material is gone from streaming services. For example, GE+IM's digital single is now gone, and all of UnsraW's materially used to be streamable, but that got removed a few months ago. Unfortunately, being available digitally comes with an asterisk that says *(for now)

I was in a few local bands and some of our sets got decent turnouts (bare in mind we lived in a small city) but I was always late to join bands so I could never really make their sound my own. The best group I was in was called 'Flock North' and we played political fuelled rock...I had no interest in politics so it was a bit like how The Smiths sang about meat being murder but Morrisey was the only vegetarian. As for now I'm a small time hobbyist producing lofi hip hop and Breakcore although I did have a breakcore track released on a compilation a few years ago which is my crowning achievement. I'm trying to incorporate VK somehow but I'm still finding the best way to do it.

From 2007 to 2011 I played guitar in the band Dark Cherry, formed by a group of friends. We made kinda poppy emo/alternative rock/metal with electronic elements (implicitly influenced a bit by D'espairsRay, Abingdon Boys School, L'Arc and stuff like that). Home-recorded a bunch of crappy sounding demos, studio-recorded two better sounding singles and played a few dozen gigs mostly locally, it was fun. From 2006 to this day I'm in a hobby/"just for fun" music project with my vocalist friend (who is also ex-Dark Cherry) under the alias The 21st Cherry Boys (the name came from BUCK-TICK's song, lol), or T21CB for short. We record stuff at home, in totally random styles that come to our mind at the moment. But usually it's some kind of silly weird pop/rock music coupled with electronics (for a while a friend of ours joined too, he played the cajon). We're doing a 12-month single release campaign this year, tho dunno how far we'll get due to the virus scare, lol. We also had a short-lived project Sunshine Demons with the guitarist cousin of said vocalist friend. We recorded an EP in 2012, kind of a mixture of punk, post-hardcore and pop-rock. We also have an album's worth of unreleased and mostly unfinished tracks recorded during 2018-2019, which we are slowwwwwly working on getting finalized. So far it seems like it will have somewhat of a Latin flair in the music, and it will be a concept record telling a story about cowboys, crime, ghosts, revenge,...stuff like that, lol. From 2007-ish onwards I'm also doing some solo stuff here and there under the name JigsawJohnny, but I'm super lazy so I haven't recorded that much music. Genres range from noise, industrial to hardcore, death metal, post-punk, whatever I feel like. My latest release was a dark ambient record with a dystopian cyberpunk concept last Halloween. Most of the music that isn't totally terrible to listen to for even those involved can be found on Bandcamp.

Holy fuck some of these drum samples are the same ones DEViL KiTTY used. Literally the exact same. I'm sure a lot of other bandmen probably also use the same drum machine. I know a few Metis Gretel songs do.

Tbh that’s a really respectful decision, it’s better to stop when you know that things have run their course than to drill the DADAROMA name in to the ground until no one cares about them anymore
