MEJIBRAY members post-hiatus activities
Yukami and 10 others reacted to utaulatias for a post in a topic
Whoops I meant to post this report early but forgot… Sorry in advance for any ignorance on my part, I’m not actual a fan of Mejibray’s and just went mostly for curiosities sake. (Like, I think I can name two Mejibray songs…) That being said, I still felt really moved by the performance. There were nine songs for the main set and one for the encore. Most of them were L’arc-en-Ciel/Hyde songs. I thought the encore with コエガキエルマデ was really poetic considering the lyrics. I would say about half of the show was actual performance and the other was talking and MCs. And it went for about two and a half hours. As far as singing abilities go…well he seemed like he was having a lot of fun, and that’s what’s most important, right? Part of it was that he was reeeealllly nervous so I thought his singing improved a little as the show went on and he got a little more confidence. After the first two songs he actually started talking, and the best way that I could describe his voice was a man in his thirties who smoked…a lot. It was kind of deeper than I expected but I could hear sooooo much tobacco… Summary of the many MCs He explained that while Mejibray is on hiatus and he did solo stuff, he’d be using the name Yuutaro and if Mejibrary ever performed again, he’d go back to Meto. He also said that the reason he wanted to speak finally was so that he could express his own feelings and also say thank you to the fans. There was a fair amount of tears from Yuutaro too. He really loves the fans and Mejibray. Especially in the beginning, every other sentence he said was about him being really nervous or it being really scary singing on stage and how his hands were shaking a lot! But he usually followed that up with how he was having a lot of fun. There were also a lot of stories that the other session members shared and they were all very encouraging to Yuutaro talking. And there were also promises of a five-way marriage between everyone on stage. In the end, he alluded to planning on doing more solo performances, so hopefully there will be more in the future. Also during the encore, Yuutaro opened presents which went on for about half an hour because there were so many of them! I can’t really even remember everything thing but almost every time before he opened a present he would say “It’s a Nintendo Switch right?” And unfortunately, he didn’t get a Switch and the presents were just a whole lot of random crap from Donki. But he looked pretty happy about the Doraemon stuff he got. -

What about DIR EN GREY - CONCEIVED SORROW(DEMO Ver.)
EzraEroguro and 3 others reacted to Nowhere Girl for a post in a topic
I need this so badly. The title DOPING ZONE kinda sounds like DOZING GREEN. Edit: VULGAR demos? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFJWANHbFJKFJNfFDM<FMAALCNs⌂L5@54◘4ã8ÞF¼J«↔¨//// -
3 pointsI don’t think they were televised like on the special when they were mastering Sanjou no Uta. These demos were from a radio program that I think one of the members was a guest on and played some of the unfinished tracks. Ill see if I can find them later this weekend when I’m not at work.

3 pointsWorst thing about being a DEG fan that’s a grown ass man: being lumped in with the fucking weirdos that squee over everything from new haircuts to some subtle facial tics Kyo makes during an interview. Makes me wonder if any of them are actually even listening to the music.
-
3 pointsLol that’s literally what I said. But my understanding is that they didn’t put ain’t afraid to die on Macabre because they thought it didn’t fit thematically. Like, somehow Taiyou no Ao does with that shitty sipping-margaritas-by-the-cabana breakdown in the middle. Fuck that song.

Anyway tried to get infos about the live myself lol. I don't want to tell stupid things, because I can't understand the language well..but. The live itself was quite good it seems, and Meto seemed really happy about it. Also he want to use the name Yuutarou from now on and not Meto because it belongs just to Mejibray. Also he said it's his real name. It doesn't seems like that he's planning to make / join another band, but singing sometimes again. Looks like some random sessions in the future (?). Also here is a setlist from the concert: 2018.01.17 由太郎(メト)Birthday セトリ HONEY Blurry Eyes -MC- Driver's High Shout at the Devil -MC- ホライゾン HORIZON Glamorous Sky -MC- ダメ人間 (Dame ningen) READY STEADY GO HELLO En コエガキコエルマデ (Koe ga kieru made) So there was some Laruku too along with Diaura and Arlequin. Just one Mejibray song. Surprised. Also he said that he can't really sing Nokubura song, so that's why he had to skip it. From all of these I think he has a kind of higher voice maybe. Still hope to hear it once somehow. These infos are from twit reports. -

What about DIR EN GREY - CONCEIVED SORROW(DEMO Ver.)

The YouTube video is legit. Several songs still in their demo forms leaked around the same time the band was touring the US and Hot Topic was selling the zombie pirate t-shirt and their Warcon albums in 2006. Conceived Sorrow and The Fatal Believer were two that I remember leaked. I have a backup thumbdrive somewhere that has all the demos. I also have a backup CD that has Vulgar demos too. I’ve moved so many times that I’ve probably lost them somewhere. HOWEVER Im pretty sure I posted about TMOAB demos and rumors on my LJ. Im going to log in and see what all I can find and I’ll post back. -

They've been mentioned here in passing, but gonna link this here anyway: vastly underrated and terribly short-lived, r.i.p. This is the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit edit: Oh lord, their OHP is still up. What a blast from the past. :'D -

I just stick around to see if Shinya’s drumming is going to get any worse. He’s going to be the Japanese Lars Ulrich in another ten years. -

But that's my favorite thing about their shows. I always go in thinking I'm going to hate it but it's somehow made so much better by the fact that I feel hilariously out of place, yet we're all watching the same five Japanese men slowly trudge through their midlife crises on stage. It's strangely cathartic. -

I suppose every fandom has its share of blindly devoted soldiers, but the ones with the complete lack of objectivity amaze me. In fact, I think I just answered my own question about whether or not these people actually listen to the music. I remember when Lotus came out there were people saying how nice it was to hear Kyo sing and the addition of piano was nice new touch to DEG’s style. I’m like, you dumb motherfuckers, Glass Skin wasn’t that long ago! -
2 pointsIt's just random tracks lying in my music library. Btw, self-proclaiming to be a 6th member of the band seems more confused.

These have never been confirmed to be their real names, but yes, this is what people (for some reason?) think are their actual names. Readings for people who can't read the post above: Andou Masaru (Die) Nishimura Hironori (Kyo)* Niikura Kaoru (Kaoru) Hara Toshimasa (Toshiya) Terachi Shinya (Shinya) *A lot of western fans thinks Kyo's real name is Tooru, but this has been proved wrong before. Iirc it was Kyo trolling in an interview (a Japanese source states it was in the magazine KERA) and said that his name is Tooru. The fan translation never mentioned it being a joke and then people ended up believing it was real. Or something along those lines. -

1 pointyou know that one direction fandom does this to a worse, creepier extent with 40 y.o. + het ladies thirsting over some drug addicted twinks in their 20s in exactly the same ways as visual kei fandom at large don't be surprised when you run into the types of stans that sustain visual/ex-visual kei acts. I won't even mention k-p*p fandom because the demons are too near
-
1 pointThere is some truth to this. I roll my eyes and laugh pretty hard when I hear Americans shouting “ANKORE!!!” Another favorite: when Kyo went thru that phase where he changed lyrics in The Final. In Japanese lives you would see fans holding up one finger and then two during the “hitotsu futatsu” line. Well he changed that part, and a small group of people anticipated the old lyrics and held their fingers up, but Kyo left them hanging. Did you just assume my sexuality and gender?!?!

1 pointThe band have published their new look.

1 pointI guess meto...opps,Yuutarou isn't planning on becoming a professional Singer and form a brand new band, right? It would be so good, his new band plus koichi and tzk with another project, keeping MEJIBRAY as their main place,of course.

1 pointFuck [999]. This isn't the downy news I wanted to hear this year. I hope that dude recovers, as he's an integral part of their sound.

1 pointI just realized one of my old hard drives is dying and some folders are no longer readable rip do any of you 2002-2005 Diru stans have their photoshoots stacked that you can UL for me? I'm mostly interested in vulgar/the final/saku promo (I don't remember where saku one was from, possibly ohp - it's a bunch of v. small pictures shot in a garage or something, all tinted green.)
-
1 pointAll Western. Don't know where exactly these people live^^
-
1 pointShit like this pisses me off. I also hear “you can’t even sing along to it”, as if being able to dance and sing along are the only things that qualify music as music.

[BOOK REVIEW] Sushi & Stromgitarre [part 1 of ?]

100% German isn't my motherlanguage. but I am glad that I do understand it almost perfectly. ___ inside the book is written that translating is forbidden, however I will write some nice summaries of each chapter. So that you guys still know a bit of the stories inside. (。-∀-) and who knows if this is a good hit, that Steff ever comes up with an English translation. -

Your Most played Vk songs
Dillinger reacted to reminiscing2004 for a post in a topic
Generally, I'm not much of a person to binge single tracks, as my tendency is to listen to albums. However, according to my iTunes, my top 5 played VK tracks are 1. DELUHI - s[K]ape:goat (103 plays) 2. Versailles - Princess (64 plays) 3. Versailles - ASCENDEAD MASTER (58 plays) 4. the GazettE - 未成年 (44 plays) 5. Rentrer en Soi - LAST SCENE (36 plays) Seems pretty accurate! These are all total classics for me, though if my library playcount included my listening pre-2011, I'm almost positive Aristocrat's Symphony, The Revenant Choir, and HYBRID TRUTH would be on this list -

1 pointThe vk look always was so iconic on yuuki... his moon light down look was amazing. It's sad to see them abandoning the style. Maybe it's me who loved the shit out of chains of collar era lycaon and can't get past it.

1 pointEvery new look of them is always more horrible and no sense. Only their first look was beautiful.. they are becoming less and less visual-kei.
