yall have no taste when it comes to looks smh, the weird shit is at least interesting and creative when you compare it to the boring-ass "check it out bro we're all wearing SUITS" or "dude we're totally wearing kimonos lmao we're so traditional" looks that way too many vk bands do nowadays i'd much rather take the weird yoda stuff over smth like kiryu, who have basically been recycling the same 3 or 4 general styles their entire career, for example.. for people who claim to be into visual stuff a lot of y'all are still pretty quick to write off anything that deviates from the generic vk pretty boy norm

In fact, if you like anything after their 2 track demo tape performance as DEATHMASK, you're not a true fan. They sold out with MISSA and became mainstream trash.

I feel comfortable in saying this is some of the band’s best work. Questionable production aside, the songwriting is tight and focused aside from the two weird flubs from Toshiya. To be fair, the main problem with Devote My Life is that fucking main siren riff being too damn loud, but I love that breakdown with Toshiya rumbling away. Other than that, this is the first DEG album in a long time that I can listen to from beginning to end without feeling drained halfway thru. There really isn’t any filler, and they sound super confident in these songs. They’re short in length, but not in content. Fuck it, dawg, I’m happy.

Not really understanding how an opinion on personal taste has more/less merit depending on how long you've been a fan and if you've been to Japan or not. I personally have been listening to this album more than anything they've put out since VULGAR/Withering, so because of that it stands out as being one of their better efforts as far as I'm concerned.

Been listening the shit out of the album for the last couples of days, and it just gets better and better. I have no problem with the placement of songs now, and I accept 'Ningen...' and 'Utafumi' now. My only problem would be 'Values of Madness': I still don't like how it is placed after 'Aka'. The rest of it has finally clicked with me. Also got past the production after finding the right EQ and listening device, as Saishu said. I just hope someone rips CD 1 and 2 in good quality, because I can't get enough of 'The Deeper Vileness' remake and it's only on YouTube. Seriously: I'm really happy with what they did to the song. I would love a complete re-recording of 'The Marrow of a Bone'. Going back to 'The Insulated Wolrld'', I honestly think it's a good album with some standout moments (especially the second half), but they could have done better. It still feels rushed and 'simple', though this was something the band was after. Hope we don't have to wait four more years for another album!

らせん (Rasen) will release 2 singles in their next live at 難波#G8 (10/09). Called "明鏡止水" and "冥狂死祟". Futarishizuka in one cover and Kikyo in other, I think that both of them have 2 tracks, like the others singles.

Utafumi is the most pointless edit they’ve done, but cutting Rinkaku down to three and a half minutes was a travesty. The non-singles from Arche weren’t edited though.

    Morrigan will disband

Kuloe was missing for a while too (in April) and when he came back he said that he did it because there was unhappiness in his family and it was mentally damaging him and because of bearing all of that he didn't think he could stand on stage in front of everyone. I feel like he's been struggling mentally even after he came back. No matter how much I like him, I don't see him start a new band anytime soon.

ranunculus is so weird in a sense I don't hate the song (and I love the video), but I absolutely don't want to listen to it like ever, it literally feels like 4 minutes of nothing w/o the visuals to accompany the song; meanwhile I have about 2 or 3 album cuts in my deg playlist and they fit nicely sometime between arche and whatever remains of VOS tracks I have left there.

    JILUKA

Ricko doesn't write the lyrics, Sena does. Jiluka's music is 100% written by Sena. As for my opinion about the album, it's pretty meh imo. I'm of a similar opinion as 123Sandman321. Everything sounds like copy/paste to me. Sena is a really talented guy but I'm disappointed by the lack of diversity, yet at the same time I'm not too surprised that I didn't like the album since I haven't really liked anything they've put out for a while. I've also stopped going to their lives cause they never change their set lists. Everything about them is so futsuu these days imo.

Uroboros > Vulgar > DSS > Gauze > Arche > WtD > Marrow > Macabre > Either Kisou or TIW I already wore my protection and have a wooden club by my side if necessary. Not sure what I'd place on the bottom place but I dislike both deeply I'd have to listen to Kisou again in order to compare it to TIW but I haven't heard it in years and I'm not willing to rn.

I think we've all done some weird stuff in Sims at some point haha. I remember when I got Sims 3 and created my favorite boybands in it and made them do some questionable stuff with each other lol. Ah, good times...

I think some people are confusing fans’ interpretations of interviews (that post from earlier today) with direct quotes from the band. That was an analysis a fan made based on a bunch of different sources plus the author’s own feelings on the record, not any single interview. Also Kaoru didn’t say it would sound like Marrow, again that was the takeaway from interviews and pre-release reviews saying it would be simpler and rawer and more aggressive.

Production aside, this album isn't as bad as its made out to be on here. The first 3 songs I admit are nothing but noise but once NINGEN hits, the album gets better. Despite who the song credits went to, I feel like you can hear everyone shine and that there was a lot more thought put into these songs. I have my love for specific tracks on ARCHE but that record was just "lazy" for the most part. There wasn't that much enthusiasm towards it either. Listening to this, I guess i can say I appreciate ARCHE more. Its like DIR EN GREY's (inferior version of) Beautiful Deformity. They needed to go back to basics to find what works again. I really dig that post a few pages back with the individual members comments on the album. You can tell these niggas actually sat down and really gave this their all. Also, from here on out I'm just gonna ignore when Kaoru or anyone else says that an upcoming album sounds like so and so. This sounds nothing like the Marrow of the Bone at all. I love Marrow but the song writing there is inferior to a majority of TIW. I can for sure hear the ARCHE sound though with how simple some of the tracks are and how they stuck to the same keys to write the tracks. My only wish is that for the next release they at least throw in a couple songs with the Drop A# tuning. Literally the highlights of the album is Ningen to Ranunculus. With ARCHE I have to keep skipping to find the songs I fuck with. Honestly this is DIR EN GREY's best work since DSS. Without the first 3 songs, this shit is a solid 9.5/10. Also I might've written this tipsy....

I really wish the album sounded like the bonus tracks. Like, Jens Bogren’s mixes aren’t perfect, but I can pick out every single detail with no problem. I like how he went for a more natural sounding snare, but it does get a little lost in heavier parts.

I've been playing the sims 4 again. I hadn't played it in like over a year so I was excited to see how much new stuff it had gotten. And oh my god. It finally has a laundry stuff pack. Laundry. Yes. I have no idea why I love it so much in that game when in real life it's one of my most hated things ever.

I actually really like this album. I'm not a very big fan of dir en grey overall (out of their previous albums I've only listened to uroboros, arche and withering to death I think, they were ok but not really that outstanding to me) but this one's pretty good.

So Dan Lancaster mixed The Insulated World, and looking thru his past works he’s also produced albums for One OK Rock, Blink-182, Crossfaith, Avril Lavigne, and Bring Me The Horizon. He also mixed the Ningen single, so I guess DEG wanted him to mix the entire album since he did such a GREAT JOB with Ningen.

Believe it or not, but some fucking weirdos actually listen to music for the sake of the music, the sound the bands or artists make, rather than the lyrical content or meaning behind the songs. Crazy shit I know, but that is actually the truth. Some people actually go so far they judge music based on the music, and not how deep or well-written the lyrics are. What a mess of a world we're living in. Complete and utter insanity amirite?

    JILUKA

I'm so disappointed by Jiluka's new album. Every song has the same structure and even sounds the same the whole album around. Ricko's harsh vocals have never been stellar and it shows here, combined with his lacking english during the clean parts...it's one of his worst performances. While Sena is technically a brilliant guitarist, he doesn't seem to have any imagination beyond super fast sweep-picking and the same fucking breakdown they've been using for years. Also, it would be kinda nice if Zyean did more than constant blast beats, but considering the songs that Sena presented, I suppose it didn't leave much room to breathe, creatively. (correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he does most of the songwriting) Maybe I expected too much of this record, considering they've released so many gems in the past (while innovating with every release), but damn, I'm so fucking salty now. It's still quality stuff that I like, but with the standard I held them to...this album just didn't cut it. It's like Far East Dizain all over again...
