Chedoara is hands down my favorite release this year so far. I like Vanitas, Malformation, and Shigarami the most but I like all the songs. I wasn't really into Ambitiosus (Ambitious?) Principles upon first listen but it's a lot of fun live so I like it a lot now. Speaking of lives, I got some set lists for you guys. I went to all of Dimlim's lives this past week. 9/21 at Ikebukuro Edge 1. Grotesque 2. Malformation 3. THE SILENT SONG 4. Shigarami 5. Ambitious Principles 6. vanitas 7. Aizou ni tsuki 9/24 at Shibuya Chelsea Hotel They played all of the album songs but not quite in the order of the album. Started with Grotesque and ended with Hito to Katachi but everything else in the middle was switched around. Sadly it was only about 40 minutes long despite being a oneman but it was free so I can't complain. 9/26 at Takadanobaba Area 1. Grotesque 2. D. Hymnus 3. Malformation 4. vanitas 5. Aizou ni tsuki

Devote My Life in particular pulls no punches. Basically says it’s not his parents’ fault he’s miserable, but he shouldn’t have been born to begin with. I just... don’t understand why those lyrics are in a song so fucking chaotic and abrasive.

I hope so. I’m not the type to get worried/emotional about celebrities I don’t even know irl but these lyrics really freak me out a bit. His other lyrics have had a poetic feel or just come of as him trying to shock people and be edgy but these seemed way more real. However he did say in a couple interviews that he was very adamant about Keibetsu to Hajimari being the first track and Ranunculus being the final track so it’s a good sign that the album ends with the one somewhat hopeful song.

Keibetsu to Hajimari had me shook upon first listen, and Zetsuentai just really opened things up at the end of the album. This album is just the craziest work.

They need to remaster 9gatsu. Like so bad. I’d love an actual copy of it. Excited for this new single though. They never fail us with quality.

I guess they're just never going to do anything about Gatsu 9 Core.... Anyway, I'm still totally stoked about this, I've really loved everything they've done.

You'd be surprised, it's disgusting how in Japan every time they start playing Sustain the Untruth, the fans act like Christmas came early. Seen it 30+ times and by the end of the tours I would feel like the band was doing it on purpose just to mock me. A show without Sustain was like a gift. Easily the most annoying Dir en grey live track.

But that was the artistic intention of the band. Kyo specifically wanted that song first because of the lyrical content fitting thematically with the development of the album. Seems strange you’d want to alter that.

Reminded me of deadman's "follow the night light" lyrics. "Wake" in the first line "wake nara hanasenai..." was actually written as 理由なら話せない.

赫 is normally pronounced “kaku” instead of “aka” as well. Some Japanese fans have nicknamed it 赤赤 “aka aka” which I think is funny.

New Utafumi feels very much like a shot in one take. I can respect that. It's just rough.

Chedoara is my favorite album of the year. I've been listening to it over and over, but I lack the musical expertise to go into the detail as to why I love it so much. Apart from the SEs, all of them have something interesting to offer, be it guitars, vocal techniques or sfx.

I wonder which ex-Darkest Labyrinth bandmen Kiwamu digs up to write Starwave's SE tracks.

Yo-hey confirmed that "獣声" is read as "Juusei." The Starwave dudes are surprisingly responsive / friendly whenever I ask for clarity on how to read their more obscure titles. I like the sample. It reminds me of late-career Megaromania.
