  1. By the end of the summer, there will be no more uploads from me. I've been called a bitch, elitist, e.t.c. I spend my hard earn money to share bands I love with you guys. I've been with TW/MH since the beginning, some of you even have my personal cell number. I'm trying a new twitter @nameinbiography I'm not very social-able. You can also catch me in discord. I'll still be here giving my opinions or fan girling or stuff. I don't dislike any of you, some of you even make me laugh with your wits and I respect you for it. I'm very approachable so don't be afraid of me cause I'm more afraid of you.

I'm very sad to hear that! I'm sure many of us are appreciating you guys sharing your stuff here, and if you have any concerns we in the staff would love to talk it over with you.

  8. i can't believe people weren't talking about Sleep My Dear more in the early 2000's. i haven't come across one bad song yet.

    1. WhirlingBlack

      WhirlingBlack

Well, they were disbanded by the early 2000s, so their popularity then compared to now is probably pretty consistent?

  11. fwiw: The songs Zetsubou no Hako and Think about death are by a different band with the name Gesshoku, not by Kyo's first band. Apparently, this was known since 2005, but some people mixed the bands up in the years that followed and yeah, now you find them with the other songs by Kyo's band. If you have them, you can delete them if you want to.

    1. WhirlingBlack

      WhirlingBlack

Nah, his second band formed in 2001, so it must be a different one.

Then there's probably three bands with the name? Annoying.

It's probably by the Gesshoku that Frypan was a member of?

Time for Mako to get a divorce and start serious band activities again before he's rotting in the ground. There's hope.

  15. Just like NETFLIX did to Death Note, the same happened with Lords of Chaos, they took an idea that they knew that it would "sell",but ignored completely what it really is and made it their own way.I felt uncomfortable watching that.

    1. WhirlingBlack

      WhirlingBlack

Well, this is what happens when you try to make a Hollywood movie out of something. You sensationalize it and distort it because it fits the "story narrative" better than the truth.

I treated it like a parody and then it was actually a fun watch, but if anyone thinks this is even remotely close to the truth then it's a problem. Like how Euronymous was portrayed like a nice sympathetic person when in fact everyone who knew him at the time says he was quite the asshole and couldn't care less that he was killed, lol.

Oh and don't get me started on having a fat jew playing Varg. That HAD to be intentional given his inclinations, lol.

  17. I'm not entirely sure how well their stuff sells in japan but Kizu's YouTube numbers are pretty crazy high at least by vk standards, I wonder if theres any chance in the years to come for overseas touring...

    1. WhirlingBlack

      WhirlingBlack

As far as I know their stuff sells really well, when my friend was going to buy Steroid she had to go to three different stores because it was sold out everywhere on release. Based on the fact that their first single sells for 8000+ yen at PureSound also tells me that there's a demand bigger than the supply.

  19. After many years I finally managed to get a hold of a CD I've wanted to get a HQ rip of, only to find that the CD itself is mastered from mp3 files and my brand new FLAC rip has almost exactly the same specs as the old 192kbps files available since time immemorial. Feels bad.

Black:List - DESPERATE, for some reason it was the last CD of theirs I never had managed to get.

  20. still can't believe how INCREDIBLY underrated Lament. are, still one of the best VK bands of the last decade or so.

    1. WhirlingBlack

      WhirlingBlack

I can confirm this, not only are they excellent on disc, they also deliver a great live performance. I even saw them do acoustic versions of their music once and the vocalist is a skilled pianist as well as singer. Their influences are top-tier too, a mix of all eras of Nagoya VK. I think their style doesn't appeal to the commercial sides of VK though, and the vocalist suffer from Nigu-syndrome aka. he's fatter than average so I assume they have a difficult time getting the fangirls.

  21. Have y'all seen the controversial Gillette ad? What do you think? Are men not used to progressive messages aimed at themselves? Personally, I think although a little cliché, it isn't a bad advert.

    1. WhirlingBlack

      WhirlingBlack

I've never seen this ad before, but personally, I think it feels like a cynical way for a major corporation to make money out of an important social issue by condensing it into a barely 2 minutes long commercial, which necessitates you to simplify a very complex and not very black/white issue to a level that I can see being offensive to people.
