Nah, I think the rest of them are cool. Way back in the day when Dir en grey played those three shows in a row in NY, a lot of people were camped out and the tour bus was basically directly beside the line. More than once, Die would be coming and going and never seemed to have a problem acknowledging the fans/occasionally chatting with them. Then the night before the last show when it was pouring rain on everyone, Kyo went around with their translator giving everyone hot tea.

I saw Dir en grey in Portland in 2008. I was so stoked to finally see them and they were my favorite band at the time. The show was really mediocre though. Aside from the crowd being filled with a lot of hardcore weeb girls, the band themselves just didn’t seem that into it. After the show, Shinya and Toshiya were signing and bc of where I had been standing, I miraculously ended up being first in line. At the time, I’d never had a CD signed before aside from handouts at local shows in my hometown that came in paper cases and I didn’t realize that I had to unwrap the CD before they’d sign it. The bouncer told me to go to the back of the line, so I very quickly scrambled to open the wrap. I managed to do it p fast, and Toshiya was laughing a little bit. Idk if he thought it was funny or if I was an idiot. Shin ya didn’t seem at all interested in anything. I tried to thank him for signing the CD, but he just looked away and snubbed me. After that, I kinda stopped liking Diru. It felt like the magic was gone. Tbh I’ll listen to their new music, but I always feel like I’m just not into it now.

Sometimes I think about how much I dislike my old-fashioned middle name, but then I remember these ridiculous baby names: * Abcde (pronounced "AB-suh-dee") * Ikea * Disney * Moon Unit (Frank Zappa's daughter) * Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee's son) * Bronx Mowgli (Pete Wentz's son) * Bandit (Gerard Way's daughter) * Buddy Bear (Jamie Oliver's son) * Hashtag * Facebook * Like * Window (middle name Coverings) * Marijuana * Felony * Number 16 Bus Shelter * Violence * Midnight Chardonnay * Girl * Twins named Lemonjello and Orangello * Brothers named Winner and Loser * Lunar Module * RonRico Bacardi Also, Dovahkiin, but I admittedly quite like that. He was born on the Skyrim release date (November 11th, 2011) and the family now receive free Bethesda games for life.

Damn, this song is so good. Someone posted the Japanese lyrics on the music video on YouTube so I went ahead and wrote up the romaji and an English translation. The original lyrics are quite vague and conceptual as is the case with Japanese but I did my best to lace everything together. Any feedback/suggestions welcome! --- Kanji Romaji English

    Greetings. :)

Made an account a couple days ago and have been scoping out the place, so maybe I should finally post an introduction. I was very much into VK in college, something like a decade ago. I still listen to songs off and on again but lately I've been checking out all sorts of bands and feeling nostalgic so here I am. It just makes me really happy that some of my old loves are still around/have returned like Psycho le Cemu, cali≠gari, and Plastic Tree. Aside from from that, my great loves are dogs, anime, and books. I work at a public library and read all the baking books and graphic novels I can get my hands on. I love planning crafts for programs and the teen anime club which I co-host. Really, I just like making anything so cosplaying is another hobby that suits me perfectly. Current favorite book is Annihilation and my favorite movie is From Dusk Till Dawn. And a quick question while I'm here! What's the stance on necro'ing threads? I saw the, "don't necro old threads unless you are providing new, updated information" line in the rules. Is there a limit to how many threads I can respond to in rapid succession because I'm that overly talkative type as you can tell from this introduction?

They are in a dire need of a hiatus, for a year, at least, because this is getting worse and worse. The new Youtuber bullshit is just a cherry on top of all that trashpile. It feels like BPR wants to milk out every last yen, 'til Mahiro actually goes blind.

The instrumentation is perfect but Karma’s voice ain’t it. It sounds very forced. His style is one of those that you have to write the music around or else it clashes, but that’s just my opinion lol

I agree 100%. I like the guitar a lot, but Karma sounds a bit like a pseudo-Yuuki (Initial'L/ex-Lycaon). Also, I agree with the general consensus here that the cover art is fucking awful. It looks like if Salvador Dali made a Spore poster, which should be a good thing but it's not.

Dude should have sung into a mic in that PV to make it look less awkward. All these guys need to work on the performance part of performing. Too robotic. I was watching -OZ-'s Detox PV before watching this PV and the difference in energy of performance is like night and day. Song is alright. Kinda boring. I don't know if Hizaki wrote this, but it sounds like every Hizaki song I've ever heard. While not awful, it feels generic.

  36. 1 point
I would call this anything but generic (and I listen to a metric fuckton of -core music). Each instrument in each part of the song is expertly layered in the mix and they complement each other perfectly. No repetitive drumming patterns, outstanding guitarwork with some nice tones, a little bit of ambiance here and there, with a competent vocalist on top of it all. The only thing missing is just a little bit more grit in the vocals, maybe some screams, but it's still an amazing song anyway. I'm really excited to hear more.

Any time a bandman dies for undisclosed reasons, I immediately think they must have overdosed. I know that's a horrible thing to think of when someone just died, but it's always the first place my mind goes. I'm also convinced that I'm probably right like 75% of the time.

THIS But it's not just men. It's women, too. It's everybody. Most people simply do what they were taught to do, whether they learned directly or indirectly. And I'm not talking about academics - I'm referring to how we're being taught to live in general. When you look at society as a whole, particularly western society - it's clear that what we're doing isn't working...that what we've been learning (and subsequently acting out) isn't good enough. We live in a society that perpetuates, encourages, and even rewards dysfunction. So is it any wonder that we're all depressed, anxious, and stressed out of our minds? These are things WE'RE ALL affected by. This also raises the question: What and how are we being taught? Do we even have the tools to better educate ourselves? If so, what are they? .... Ya know, I've gotten shit for saying negative things about feminism before, as people are quick to assume that anti-feminism = anti-woman or anti female-empowerment, which is absolutely fucking ridiculous. But I'm of the opinion that all of these different social movements can go...be it feminism, men's rights activism, red pill, MGTOW, black lives matter...whatever the fuck. They all appear to be well-meaning movements on the outside, but as they say, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" - and ultimately, these movements seem more like dysfunctional solutions to a misdiagnosed problem. It's like trying to cure a cancer patient with cyanide. Meanwhile, they actually have AIDS . Sure, your *intentions* may be to cure the patient (which is great), but your actions are just introducing more toxic elements to an already deteriorating structure - the cause of which has not been fully explored. So from what I can tell, the real problem seems to be much deeper...and it transcends both men and women, black and white, rich and poor, etc. Whatever it is, it effects society as a whole. And society isn't some nebulous thing. It does exist outside of us, yet we all make up society individually as well. So if men are lost (and we definitely are), would that not also imply that the whole is lost as well? So all I'm saying is that perhaps we should endeavor to take a more balanced and holistic approach to viewing and scrutinizing these important social issues, instead of blindly entertaining all of these divisive ideologies that constantly pit one group of people against the next. Meanwhile, the whole suffers. How is society going to get anywhere if the right leg is constantly at war with the left? The body needs both of them to walk properly. And so I'm glad that @Zeus brought that point out, because it offers an additional perspective (without demonizing other perspectives) and shows that there's often more going on beneath the surface than we might be willing to explore. These are complicated issues.

Before I get into it, random disclaimer: I have nothing against women, International Women's Day, or dedicating the entire month of March to women. Go women! Good vibes for females all around. I feel really bad for that Ambrose dude, and for all guys that find themselves in a similar emotional predicament. A lot of the assumptions and caricatures we make about men like these are rooted in real insecurities. His hostile reaction to this picture really shows it off. The way I'm looking at it, he's not mad that women are getting actively praised and recognized as much as men aren't being actively praised and recognized. And the key word there is actively, which is why I put it in bold it three times. What's happening globally doesn't always trickle down to the individual experience and this is a great example of that. While men are more privileged than women in many aspects of life, it is possible that this particular man isn't. He doesn't have the tools, the vocabulary, or the emotional maturity to reconcile what the world thinks he is versus what he really is, or how to express that to other people. All he sees is women being lifted up for being women, and wondering why he doesn't get the same treatment for being a man. Of course the reality is more complicated than that, but even a satellite sees at only one angle. People responded to the post below him reminding him that men have their own day too, but does that really matter? That day doesn't get as much traction as International Women's Day and I can tell you that people weren't thanking me for being me on that day just because I'm a guy. I can tell you that it's never been the case for my entire life. I think this really speaks to a lack of active and direct support for men in our society. I would bet 50 quid that this guy hasn't received a genuine hug or a compliment from anyone in years and it shows. He might be doing it to himself - he probably is doing it to himself in some ways - but what really matters on a surface level is what is and isn't coming together. That's why I said actively was so important earlier; I feel like this society has a lot of implicit support for men but only if you meet certain criteria, and that's never really explained to anyone. This guy is lost and confused and there aren't a lot of socially acceptable avenues for him to describe his pain. I was there once too and that's how I recognize it. Active and implicit support is necessary for healthy human development. As a man I feel like I have a lot more opportunities in life, but I also feel like I'm left to figure more things out by myself. I bet his life experiences causes him to double down on his beliefs because according to him, this life is all he knows. I also bet this Twitter exchange gone viral caused a triple down too. This attitude is what happens when you leave people to figure life out on their own and they come to answers the rest of us don't agree with. I was able to pull myself out of that quagmire, but I couldn't really describe to you how it was done. Lies. I can and it's called LSD, but I don't recommend it to anyone lightly. This is something I've been thinking about all month, and not out of a place of hate. Men aren't being petty because women are getting attention. Men are being petty because they are lost. I don't know what it feels like to be praised for being a man, but I do know what it feels like to be praised for being black, and that puts me in a really awkward middle ground where I'm in both groups simultaneously and I see both sides of it, and I understand how both sides are right. From talks with several male friends of mine, ranging from chads to dads, it's not that uncommon of a feeling. All these guys having so many insecurities in common is a bigger issue. I hope that this November, someone can start a viral campaign for actively supporting healthy expressions of masculinity, to give a lot of guys like this a chance to work out their inner discord in a healthy and constructive manner.

Once I was front row center for the band I went to see at a smaller venue and the vocalist had a minor wardrobe malfunction. He had set up a light underneath the step up so he could look all cool and shit, but he was wearing a long black skirt so all it did was light up everything underneath like a lampshade so I had a front row view of his underwear for an hour. I never told him because I didn't want to embarrass him, but I guess he figured it out cause he never tried to do that again.

Great, now I'm not gonna be able to not do that. I used to have a looped audio clip of Kamijo screaming "NYAAAAH" as my alarm. I once just snoozed it without actually turning it off and I heard it from downstairs about nine minutes after I got up, so I had to run upstairs and turn it off before I woke everyone in the house up.

I like that Sho uses harsh vocals for the appropriate lyrics. I mean the “I want to flush your goddamn torn up tiny pieces down the toilet” part is the perfect line for the way he delivers it.
