I think I'm in the minority here but I've enjoyed all their recent releases. Not as much as their past work like 420 and their .whatever minis. It it is a shame because I see their talent and they are one of the more impressive bands out there in the scene right now but if they need a break, go for it. Just don't pull a 12012 and Malice Mizer and never come back.

Couldn't be more true. Like I said, it took seeing them live to make me a fan. No encore in Niigata. Apparently the band and fans alike were crying. Setlist later if people want it.

You can't put a price on seeing some internet people act heartbroken and shocked over such an announcement from a band whom they claim undying devotion to yet.... ..not devoted enough to know VK bands work. Like they are REALLY surprised as if they think some unforeseen tragedy has taken place to cause this. They don't seem to realize how much in excess their output was... probably see no difference in the quality of releases either. I guess they assume songs just kind of write themselves if you spend enough time being cute and all. The boys do give that impression.. Stay on hiatus until their short-term attention span dies out, then quietly come back and.... try to build a better fanbase. I'm a fan of MEJIBRAY and I think MEJIBAY fans deserve everything they've got coming to them in life lol

in this topic i wanna discuss the most special/interesting/memorable incidents experienced during Vk lives attended in japan. if there are also some special situations you've experienced feel free to tell us as well! ;D BAND: DEZERT i saw them live when they were still a pretty underground band (even before they had their very first instore event which took place only one day after i saw 'em live) during the live there were 3 girls standing pretty close to the stage but they were the only one who didn't participated with other fans... so after chiaki screamed a few times "SHINE" while pointing at them and they still didn't move to the back he took a water bottle and spit a few times directly to the girls so they finally moved to the back... BAND: B.C i visited one of their sponsered lives and during one of their songs the vocalist told everyone to build a circle and to hold each others hands which each other. then while everyone was standing in circle ALL headbanged which i've never seen before in my life. during this section of the live the singer jumped down from the stage and also headbanged along standing back to back to a girl which he accidently colide with the back of their heads - kinda funny situation... BAND: MeteoroiD i saw them live in 2015 and during their last song everyone was kneeing down on the floor and all headbanged... you might think like: yeah but whats so special about this!? but because of the very thick atmosphere during that part it really felt like: what fucked up cult thing is goind on right now... XD so that were my most memorable experiences i had during my few lives i attended in japan so far.

Usually you see 無期限 or some variation for "indefinite hiatus" announcements. IMHO it sounds like a temporary hiatus, but who knows what could happen in between that time, lol. I've translated the announcement, since posters above complained that none of MEJIBRAY's fans have done it. "MEJIBRAY would like to give their sincerest thanks for your continued support. We have a very important message for everyone. MEJIBRAY has decided to pause their activities following 2017. To all our fans that have supported us, and to all related staff, we understand that this announcement is a sudden one, and we deeply apologize for any worry and inconvenience this decision may cause, though we hope you can understand. Nothing has been decided about next year's schedule or if we will resume activities again next year. Though only a short period of time is left, we would like to put everything we have into our remaining activities. We humbly ask for your support. May 10, 2017"

To people who say that their new stuff is bad. Here is two different things: 1) Band live 2) Records All the songs i didn't liked that much after hearing it live became one of my favourite. They do great shows and some "weird" songs are created for live performances. Believe me... See them live first and then talk.

Honestly nothing brings the cringe quite like seeing people comment on underground metal culture without having any actual insight about it. Every time I see any one of the usual cliches being regurgitated I don't even have to read half-way through a sentence to determine that the person's familiarity with the genre consists of giggling to an Immortal video and a whole bunch of hearsay.

VISUAL KEI God, I LOVE some Visual Kei bands (some of my fav bands) but given the amount of VK out there, I must hate 97% of it. POP BLACK METAL There are too many pretentious bands that want to pretend to be brutal but they are actually ridiculous and their music is crappy.

Nowadays it feels like basically no1curr about D at all anymore. - Tsuzuku (Mejibray) - Karma (ex Avelcain) - Yuuki (ex Lycaon, Initial'L) - Kamijo - Jin (ex Nega, The Black Swan) - Dada (Velvet Eden) Like.... ????? i never got what people saw here tbh, he's always sounded like shit to me - Satsuki (ex Rentrer en soi) Another case where I never got the hype - Keisuke (Deviloof) DUDE HARSH VOCALS LMAO UNDERRATED: - Shuuji 1 (ex cali gari) but only during his cali gari days, I haven't been v. impressed with his work after that - Loki (ex Sugar, More) - Mako (ex deadman) - Danchou (NoGod) - Demon Kogure (Seikima-II) - Gara (Merry) - Morrie (Dead End, Creature Creature) Dude doesn't get enough credit for his newfound meme vocals - Ao Sakurai (LAB. THE BASEMENT, cali gari) May not be technically amazing or anything, but I've always thought his voice is interesting - Jun Togawa - Susumu Hirasawa (P-Model etc) Generally underrated among the weeb crowd - Ya-su (ex GRASS, Ya-foo) comfy as fuck

Satellite Young is a Japanese band I recently discovered through a friend, but I feel like since they're synthwave they'd get way more love here. (And since they played SXSW back in March they seem to be gaining a lot more international attention lately.) Their sound captures that period of synthy 80s anime openings/endings so well it's almost hard to believe they're a modern group. Someone upped their entire album, of which I'm pressed to find any track I don't like. My favorite is probably "Ai no Threnody" tho. (20:35)

i say this as someone who likes meji a lot - best outcome imo would be all four members starting/joining new projects that sound nothing like eachother, & keeping the band Mejibray alive for the occasional single/EP or reunion sorta tour. kinda feel like 420 was the summation of Meji's sound, Nepenthes/Eiki/Venoms were some nice epilogues, & everything since is just bonus tracks. Seems like each individual member has a lot more of an 'artistic vison' or w/e than really fits under the mejibray brand.

sadie and deathgaze are on hiatus as well,so...i'm kinda preparing myself to see koichi or tsuzuku with a new project

I've thought about this a lot and I think I've come up with a solution We need to ban americans, scandinavians and anyone who's been into vk for less than a decade from the scene.

BLaive will hold their last oneman for their current lineup on 2017.08.14 at Takadanobaba CLUB PHASE, after which Vo.ヨウ(Yoh), Gt.レイ(Rei) will depart. Rei will also retire from musical activities after that. They will hold their 2nd anniversary oneman on 2017.06. 05 at Shinsaibashi Paradigm. Their best album "色彩Guraduation" (2 types) will be released on 2017.06.21.

The "poor" quality of the recordings are often what makes the recording great. Black metal is, in 98% of the cases, all about creating a certain kind of atmosphere and if you take away the production you're often left with nothing as the genre isn't based much around the riffs themself or anything like that, as opposide to thrash which is all about riffs. And I don't see how norwegians take the imagery way too far. They're not worse than other countries at all.

I'm legit giggling. Only real punk rock. But really, whatever keeps them afloat, I don't mind.

tbh? nocturnal bloodlust. their western sound was such a turn-off for me originally. i downloaded their omnigod album and left it sitting in the dust for a good couple of months and would skip majority of the songs that came on shuffle... but after a while of not skipping the songs, i started to really enjoy them, despite the western sounds. i think i really fell in love with hiro's vocals, especially his high screams, and then started to do more research on the band and involve myself and they turned out to be one of my all-time faves ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Perturbator was insaaaaane! He brought the house down (or the ship if we wanna get technical xD), total retro-future club bangin' for an hour. He looked like he was doing lots of stuff too, tho from my viewpoint I couldn't really see the specific equipment. Anyway, he was really concentrating and always turning knobs and pushing buttons while looking #seriousasfuck and #evilasfuck. Background projection was pretty sweet too. Also shout out to our very own Lazerpunk, his warm-up show was cool too! (he has more of a retro video game / B-movie aesthetic) Next up: September 12, Carpenter Brut live!!
