    [VK Nightclub] Klubb Lunacy

Klubb Lunacy is one of Europe's oldest Visual Kei nightclubs, which originally ran between 2004 and 2010. After a 7 years long hiatus, I'm happy to announce that I'm the one who is carrying on the torch and together with the old owner I'm reforming it and intend to make it stronger than ever. The first date is set for 1 of September in Stockholm, Sweden. Six hours of old and new Visual Kei music, a Visual Kei outfit competition with an amazing prize sponsored by RarezHut, and the chance to hang out with over one hundred other fans of this increasingly rare style of music. And while we hope that some of you might be able to attend this grand revival, we don't intend to limit our activities to Sweden, and would be glad to bring it wherever enough people who are interested might be located, mainly in Europe. So if you have any connections or ideas please feel free to message me and we'll see what can be done! The clubs Facebook is located here: https://www.facebook.com/KlubbLunacy/ And the event itself is located here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1435508826514161/ Most posts have an English version after the Swedish text, so please scroll down if you want more info! We're glad for any and all support we can get from you guys as we try to bring back some community and party to the fandom! Also a special thanks to @orange~ who designed our logo!

So you're in the studio recording for an album which was supposed to be done and shipped two months ago? Schrodinger's album confirmed. It exists as long as none of us have it.

Based on the oneman tours D'espairsRay could do before their first disbandment, I think it's fairly safe to say they had a decently large fanbase in Japan. Also, as for being the target of dislike overseas, I'm not sure if we were in different circles or what but I distinctly remember them being quite hyped from an early stage, just the fact that they were one of the earliest bands to come to Europe back in 2004 should be proof that they received popularity fairly early here, the shows sold very well too. I think bangya circles are kind of misleading often as well, because most people have one or at most two bands they hardcore follow and don't usually care much for other bands, so you can often end up thinking that it's representative of the VK fanbase as a whole. Sort of like how overseas VK fans have no idea who GLAY is since they don't have any fans, but in Japan they're one of the biggest VK bands around. It becomes a closed group culture of sorts, just like there are bands that are/were hyped on here that had next to no following in Japan.

Heya everybody! So after getting a few messages about this in the past, I finally decided to make my own blog! It's centered on softkei, and all of the rips will be done by me and my disc drive! Hope you guys dig it, and feel free to tell me what you think! Thanks! https://softkei.blogspot.com

I love having internet friends but I dread the inevitable day when they pass. I dread the other inevitable day when I find out. There are a lot of people who I have only met through the Internet that have shaped my life and they could pass on and I may never know. I just might see their tag and an indication that they haven't logged on in a long time...

it's been a while, and unfortunately my external hd messed up and I lost ALL of my photography.... but it encouraged me to start over in a new angle.... so this was a recent impulsive shoot I did last night....

Ah, sorry, I meant D'espairsray got a lot of hate from overseas fans early in their career. It seems like over time that changed. If they were headlining taibans, I guess it's safe to say they were well received by Japanese gya for the most part. It didn't seem like a lot of people left before/during their sets the few times I saw them. Even when people leave, you never know if that's because of last train times, they feel sick, have another conflicting event nearby, etc. Although I've yet to meet a gya whose honmei is/was D'espairsray I'm sure they exist lol I mean some gya out there had to like them that much for them to do that reunion event with Angelo, yeah? I feel like a lot of Japanese fans won't openly display their dislike of a band, or if they do dislike the band or don't really know them, might just hang back or go out for a smoke or something. I wasn't hot on any Despairsray gossip either, tbh. None of the girls I went to lives with were really into them enough for the subject to come up.

As with my earlier outputs, I thought it would be neat to discuss about "interesting" chord progressions in our beloved, visual scene as well! What kind of intriguing progressions (from your POV) you guys have stumbled onto while going through your VK repertoire? As long as you are able to explain your choices, it's all OK...not that this thread would gain enough exposure, lol (I am not gonna hop into another round of "what is VK music" debate and just pinpoint that even in 00s and earlier 10s it was easy to acknowledge imho what's "so VK" and what's "not so VK" in the auditory context.) Prime example or where to start: "Royal road" progression (IV△7→V7→IIIm7→VIm) VK example of this: as far as I have noticed, Gazette's "Sumire" is pretty much about that kind of progression too, no?

This might be unpopular; but I really really really really like the Pillows. Even their newer stuff, not just the old stuff I have some nostalgia for. They were the first band that got me into J-Rock (through FLCL, obv) and I've never really stopped listening to them since then. Perhaps a big part of my love for them is because of nostalgia, because whenever I hear their music I get feelings of longing for days gone by.

I didn't know AvelCain were such a polarizing band. I never really got into the music/Karmas vocal style, which is a shame since Karma sounds like a fun guy. I've probably heard about half of the songs you recommended, but I'll give the other half a shot as well! Thanks!

Rei was far from their main composer, actually... Eiki and Kou are the main composers in general, Eiki having studied music in university and Kou having done it as a hobby for years before he even started his first band. I believe he plays some guitar/bass too. To be honest I have a feeling Kou is the driving force coming up with guidelines, concepts and basic structures while the other members always kinda trickled along, Eiki being the biggest help mainly doing most of the composing/technical bits. I mean Kou is even in charge of Art Direction, he just takes on everything all the time, haha. I believe the one song Nao was completely in charge of during the Shounenki era was ムービスター (WEAKNESS MY BLOOD B track) which was ... I guess while it was a fun live track it was pretty lacking over all and didn't fit the rest of the songs/theme whatsoever. They disbanded because Rei wanted to leave the band for personal reasons, and they didn't want to continue Shounenki without Rei. Simple as that. I guess they decided to take the opportunity to change up their concept (as you wrote) since Shounenki, as amazing as they were never really seemed to get anywhere. I was a huge Shounenki fan and went to probably around 60-70 shows before they disbanded but as much as I am trying it's been really hard for me to get into this new band due to the extreme change of concept... I used to love Kou's lyrics and blogs but it's like he's no longer there as he's taken on this character singing about the mental struggles of bangyas which unfortunately seems to be working in regards to people actually attending the shows. As much as I believe they'd like to do nation wide releases, they won't for financial reasons. People want the music? Then go to the lives, buy CD/goods/chekis and help them with their activities-kind of strategy. Whoever uploads these to YouTube, while I too want to be able to spread their music, you might be hurting them financially as Japanese fans won't bother coming to the shows since they already got the music online. The band even tweeted they were sad to see it happening. I understand why it's frustrating for you guys though, especially if you can't even access the lives. Just know I'll happily pick you up copies of their releases at any time and send them over, just message me on here! I believe their label CRIMZON is currently throwing all their money to Purple Stone and it's pissing me off seeing them release PV after PV while Amabo is just left to struggle on their own. I went to the oneman last week and there's probably only like 20 people from the Shounenki days still there while the rest is new fans. I dunno obviously if they're making good money but... I dunno. I hope it's going well? I was happy seeing so many new fans there but the capacity of the venue they played is smaller than what Shounenki used to play. I feel it's just such a waste to have such talented musicians flop around doing whatever this is. This concept won't last. You can only make that many songs about being a girl on the side, lol. We're gonna get bored, THEY're gonna get bored. I really hope they can turn this around somehow... I'd hate to see them just fizzle out to nothing. Especially Kou and Eiki. They're far, far too talented.

Decided to translate something fitting for Halloween. I've been wanting to translate this song anyway~ Lyrics: aie Music: aie Kanji source: jpopasia English: THE ZOMBIE Bitten by someone passing me, the one next to me also bites another Surrendering myself to my numb body, I slip into a hazy field of vision Goodbye The sky was blue from morning on that day, and the visible scenery was blue again I stop at a wall stained by blood and look back on a rainy day Maybe I should go back sadly alone, crouching my ribs[1] A face remains from a distant beautiful woman, and pain ran through her thin chest To think that my friend was a prey, and right before my eyes Maybe I should eat a strange bird, crouching my ribs Hunger, in the distorted rain, wind, and sun, it calls clarity as overcast[2] And slipped into a dissolve of clouds, maybe maybe I only realized it after the meal, as I chewed on the ring I gave Unaware of my streaming tears, I stare intently at the distant prey The one I stepped on was my lover, crouching my ribs Hunger, in the distorted rain, wind, and sun, it calls clarity as overcast And slipped into a dissolve of clouds, navy rainy ---------------------------- Translation notes: [1] Not entirely sure about the "crouching my ribs" part. [2] Literally "it calls transparency as opaque", but since mention of the sky and rain occur throughout the lyrics, I thought that maybe this was referring to the sky. Therefore, I substituted the words with "clarity" and "overcast". Feel free to check out my lyric blog for more of my translations. Thanks for looking! ^^

    Worst to First: MUCC Albums

Aishuu wasn't re-recorded though just remastered for the collection with antique... Anyway, interesting to read someone with a completely opposite take on the band, in my opinion they started out strongest even though their kept the spirit alive for almost seven years afterwards. Also, on topic: 1. Aishuu 2. Antique 3. Homura Uta 4. Kuchiki no Tou 5. Zekuu 6. Tsuuzetsu The rest.
