I get in Vidoll moods pretty often and spend time going through their old stuff. Love that there's a sizeable group of people here who seem to do the same. Most of the major stuff was a snoozefest and missed the mark for me, but it's far more tolerable than a lot of other major vk acts at the time where. Jui's voice saved it from being truly garbage. Even though it was such a tiny set, I'm glad I got the chance to see them once before the disbanded. I held on to that candy Rame threw at us for YEARS. Finally had to throw it away after I could see discoloration through the wrapper lol

The recent JYOCHO album was pretty good. They just released this PV from it!

Ryuichi has been discharged from the hospital a couple of days earlier than planned, and he still feels pain when taking deep breaths. He will focus on his recovery as he will be exercising and walking to get his lungs back to normal.

Whats up guys, here we have a new band. After the last two single and the new single preview I'm thinking i really like them. For current vk, i'm thinking that they might be my number 3. I love the way they do metalcore, for me they do it best in vk (outside of vk I'm not sure). I like how the vocalist harsh vocals are not pathetic and are adding to the music. Clean sing wise it is good, but i not sure if he is really in it (singing from the heart), please tell what think about this. umm instrumental wise they have great break down, and other parts they are good. Also like the rap/cute bits. still waiting for them to make me cum. Looks: I like the first one, individuals for for eclipse and the last 2 were great (the vocalist character especially) . eclipse pv was horrible though.

A lot of great releases here, both in terms of albums that specifically impacted my life in a large way, and ones that I found out about years later but really love.

Getting strong Kuroyume vibes as well, even the bass tone is quite similar. It's nice to hear a contemporary take on this particular sound, especially amongst all the corny Matina-inspired gothpunk revivalism that's been going on... Karma's voice kinda ruins some tracks for me which is a shame because instrumentally, they sound really promising - just listen to Lolita or 炎舞! These two tracks even make up for the unnecessary intro & outro.

Just wanted to necro revive this thread to say that I am enjoying Gentle Forest Jazz Band's music! I've only recently found out about them by listening to their latest album release. I will have to check out their earlier stuff for sure XD I've also stumbled across this pairing. It's got saxophone and guitar mixed together, but I'm digging the sound. As for jazz-influenced music, the only one I can think of right now is Shoji Meguro. As for VK-related artists, D=out hands down plays jazz best, lol.

Ugh, so many great sections in this song. It just keeps giving, like finding a treasure every minute or so lol I love Vidoll so much, but have to admit I need to give their near major/post major stuff a little more attention. Another one of my favorites is Mayura Pisaroto. I love the pace of this song and as usual, Rame is healing me with that bassline (also I think there's an album version that sounds a little different to this one?)

Vidoll was probably my all-time favourite back in the day. I own most of their discography and was obsessed since their early days. I enjoyed the Ayano-era the best and played their I My Ai Mai PV over and over. Rame's prominent basslines had me hooked. Boku Boku is a gem and Face Mayura, Face Pisaroto, If...Rebotomin and If...Torikabuto are still some of my most prized CDs. Although I lost interest after their major debut, I still followed and liked some songs here and there. Bastard was a solid effort, but I mostly liked the b-sides from their singles, like Red cube, Gaga Syrup, and Berry Jam Cleaner.

Still waiting someday some mysterious user on YouTube uploads a handful full VHS recordings of Dir en grey's first concerts, where they played Zan faster than it would be recorded, and Kaoru missed almost every solo. I don't understand how this hasn't happened yet, considering it did happen with La:Sadie's and also big bands like X, Luna Sea, L'arc, D’erlanger, and many more. Tbh I got really bored of watching the 1999 Osaka Jou live over and over to have some of the most glorious 90s vk performances ever...

After listening to the album on spotify, I take back everything I said, except the criticism on Saya's voice. He still sounds a bit tired and the instrumentals tend to get buried by the synths (Starwave's production is still to blame), but the album overall was great (of course I skipped the old songs and that dreadful Dystopia rerecording). Lust was probably the only song I didn't care for, and Period of tragedy became one of my favorite tracks overall. I have got to stop listening to samples since Starwave tends to fuck it up all of the time.

i think 鬼来 is read "kirai" and it's word play: 鬼来 can be translated like "demons coming" or something like this and there is a common word "kirai" that means "to hate smth" as for the trailer it seems that will be a mix of 100% pure shit and cute lovely songs like 般若心狂. can't wait to eat some shit to discover diamonds

I haven't combed over these thoroughly, but higher incidence of hearing loss might be attributed to ethnicity/genetics*. As for women, my understanding is that men are more prone to hearing loss**. It might seem like it happens more to female Japanese musicians (w/ how clumped these incidents are) , but I'm assuming the heightened coverage is just coincidental (implying that Japanese men might have as much, if not more hearing loss)***. AvelCain was a band with good moments in a largely forgettable discography, and those moments were when they managed to sound somewhat like a band and still retain that spirit. The problem wasn't that they were raw or something ( although the general consensus on MH is still that if a vocalist wouldn't be up to scratch competing in American Idol, he's probably shit and certainly not something one could be playing to their friends and relatives, ) but that they could barely even decide on a sound between all the chinese restaurant ost gimmicks, nu metal riffs and vaguely old school ballads and freak outs; and all of this exploration was being done with minimal musicianship while still insisting on having a clean studio sound ( which sounded awful to the point of almost being reminiscent of western vk production ) and making defined songs instead of bursts of noise which they probably should've been doing instead. For every Psycho and ID they had an ocean of mediocrity that Karma's lifestyle performance art took a level above. Idk what's the totality of their composition credits but I wouldn't be surprised if everything they made themselves was shit. This project sounds like he's finally going for something, a sound with a concise aesthetic and the influences he's working with here definitely mean that this is in the right side of history even if it isn't the best thing going so poseurs leave the hall.

I actually got a stronger Sukekiyo vibe from their more recent stuff than a DeG one too. Haven't really heard their stuff much but it's pretty crazy how Mao's singing improved with time (i'm not talking since the beginning of this project, I mean since the beginning of his career) , and the music is also took a huge improvement since "Chainsaw" too. That one barely qualifies as music lol
