To be honest, I quit caring about the bands endeavors six years ago after Jade. Yoshiki really knows how to milk the hype and it's honestly disgusting at this point - it is no longer fun, that is if it ever was and no longer a game. I'm completely done. He's over dramatic with his constant hospitalizations and studio sessions. I hate to say this about anyone but he truly is a horrible person. I don't wish him the worst but I wish he would just man the fuck up and give the fans what they want. The more he crafts his "new album" the worse it's going to be.

Had a long drive over the weekend and noticed this album was on Spotify so finally gave it a listen (the tracklist is completely different on Spotify for some reason). Basically my biggest complaint. Their sound is novel and cool in small doses... but over an entire album almost becomes a gimmick. The vocalist's unrelenting vibrato on some tracks can wear on you. Agreed the production is great though. This band would be a great candidate to just eschew the concept of a full album in general. If they released a single a season with a cool video (as they definitely have the capability of making) they'd probably be one of my favorite bands. I wouldn't even consider just releasing single songs (or maybe singles with a b-side) as 'fleecing' since they put their shit online. A $5 single four times a year probably makes the people who buy physical copies happier in a 'have a bigger collection of *things* for the same price' way and the people who aren't buying their albums anyway don't get tired of the slog through an album and forget about them the rest of the year. These record labels really need to hire me and let me enact my vision for a perfect world

News from the last couple of days makes it seem as if some sort of serial kidnapper/killer may be active in the Netherlands or something. Two 14 year old girls disappear and turn up dead within a span of just a few days and in close proximity to one another & there's a bunch of reports of girls in a similar age range being harassed by someone in a car (though this last bit could of course very well simply be a product of mass hysteria and sensationalism).. There's no 'concrete' links between the two cases yet, but the fact that these things happened in such close proximity to one another and in such a short time span feels pretty shady. Even in the wake of more serious, large scale terrorist attacks abroad it's still pretty creepy to think about the fact that this sort of thing is still possible as well. For some reason it feels weird how this particular type of crime can still happen in this day and age, serial killing in this day and age feels like something you only read about or see in crime or horror stories, though I guess people should never underestimate people in terms of being able to do messed up shit Edit: Turns out the 'dudes in a car harassing girls' part may have indeed just been a product of mass hysteria, as a 14 year old boy was taken in as a suspect for 1 case, and a 16 year old for the other one. Still, lots of very weird coincidences all over. Bizarre story, no matter how it ends.
