Sony RX100 III Rather than carrying a DSLR sized camera, I chose this for easier travels. Sure I could've picked the Mark V but I didn't want to dish out grand since the battery life is abysmal while recording 4K and still no touchscreen.

I tend to only go to final lives of tours in Tokyo, you get sneak peeks of the next release & information on the band's next tour's. I don't use my drink token 🙊 & I tend to only buy towels & cheki, & then when I get back to my home country I stick what I can & other pictures in my concerts scarpbook 😂 For accommodation my favourite hotel in Tokyo is actually located within the red light district of Shinjuku & I usually stay 1 week in Tokyo which costs me $1000 & then another week in either Hiroshima, Kyoto or Osaka. I could stay with friend's or in a hostel to save money but my friend's parent's are all strict so I'd have a curfew 😒 & in hostels you have to share rooms & bathrooms 2 things I absolutely HATE to share so hotel's are a MUST for me. Making friend's at concerts is something I don't do (I'm anti-social I know) if I don't know you I won't speak to you till I'm spoken to 🙊I also find doing the furi to songs extremely embarrassing plus I'm tall, so I stand up the back, I've only ever stood up the front & done furi once in my life because it was the first time I was seeing my favourite band. But I have to say Pentagon fan's are really friendly & they try to get you to participate in everything 👌 I LOVE giving gifts to the band so I'll buy a gift for each member (I feel mean only getting gifts for certain members) & sometimes the staff each trip 🙊🙊& I do spend a little bit more on my favourite members but yolo.

I got SO FUCKING PISSED at Nina in the bottom (cuz I'm rooting for her the most) even though her acting was bad, but I'm glad she killed it. Kinda surprised that Aja went home this early, but then again she was already being a tired ass bitch and her acting was much worse (THAT FUCKING KISSING SCENE WITH PEPPERMINT THO JAIFJEOFKLFD)...what is it with most queens just forcing everything when it comes to an acting challenge??? It's really cheesy...btw nothing surpasses Bob as the Cookie character in s8 Also I think Shea should've won that challenge, I was more into her old lady character than Trinity's, even tho they were all great, including Valentina. ♥

    Purple Stone

Haven't updated in a while, but the band has been touring extensively. Hopefully there will soon be news of new music as well!! Here are some interesting events coming up: 2017.05.21 - Kansai Rock Summit, the biggest VK 'festival' in Kansai. Purple Stone will be up at JANUS, from 14.30~15.00 2017.05.30 - Purple Stone oneman live at RUIDO K4. This is also keiya's birthday's live and it's so rare that they're doing it in Tokyo so pls go see them if you can!! 2017.06.20 - A two man live with Megalo (a non-vk rock band) at Osaka Muse. I think Megalo's members are Fuma's close friends that's why they're doing this! Regardless, it's pretty unusual to have a two-man like this so I'm sure it'll be fun! 2017.07.10 - A special '6-man' event at Nagoya's Club Quattro, featuring 3 from Osaka and 3 from Nagoya. Purple Stone is part of the Osaka 'team' together with Fest and RiR 2017.07.22 - Kamijo's birthday live Apart from these they're on the stylish wave '17 Circuit tour with some other really good bands in the lineup!

How exciting! I hope you have a blast when you go! I'd say compare prices between hostels and airbnbs and see which suits you more in terms of what you're looking for. Generally speaking, this could just be me, but I've had better experiences at hostels than same-priced airbnbs. But could just be my luck of the draw. As for if the Japan Rail Pass is worth it, it really depends on how much you're traveling and how convenient you want that travel to be. I have a friend who's going all over Japan on hers, so it's definitely worth the investment on her end. Like I said above, I'm also going to be going to Hokkaido to see a band plus take a look around, so I can't say from experience that it's worth it but I'm super excited to do it. Like I said, when it comes to gya even a little Japanese can go a long way, and while it depends on the person you're talking to, they generally seem to appreciate when you try, you know? I know nothing about good bars/pubs, anyone got good advice on that? (Also, please, don't be afraid to talk to other foreign fans. I've run into this weird vibe constantly where foreign fans just get really awkward about talking to each other, and it's just silly. If you want to talk to someone, just talk to them, worst thing that happens is you realize they're someone not worth talking to.)

I think Kaya is grossly underrated. I don't care for most of his music due to it not being my taste, but his range is out of this world. There are some songs that he's released that really blow me away--the piano version of Last Snow comes to my mind immediately--but there are a handful of others that showcase his talent and it really does bother me that he's not more popular, or at the very least, more recognised. Overrated, definitely KAMIJO. I don't even want to touch that one.

^Yess, that'd be great!! I've been thinking about this a lot while at work and I think I'm more interested in doing a lyric + PV analysis in one, mainly because it gives more room for an analysis. If no one else is gonna take a stab at it soon, or wants to join with me, I'll see if I can whip something up of my own in the next week or so.

Best thread of the week. I needed this. I just booked my first trip to Japan and I'm going sort of alone. I will be doing all the usual tourist stuff with a cousin and his girlfriend, but bangya-wise I'm on my own. Any tips? Is it better to look for a hostel or an airbnb? Is it better to buy the JRP for two weeks or buy bus/train tickets separately? If I can afford it, is it worth it going all the way to Hokkaido for a couple of days to see a band play and look around? Are japanese gyas nice-ish to people who can't really speak their language much? Are there any good pubs or bars to meet fans and/or have a laugh at drunken bandomen? XD I'll be there from mid June until the second week of July.

I'd actually say Asagi is underrated, since people seem to prefer Kamijo over him, despite Kamijo's vocal ability not being as outstanding. Depends on who you ask though. If you take the average facebook dwelling VK fan then Ruki, Yoshiatsu and Tsuzuku are vastly overrated. Jui (ex Vidoll) as quite an unique voice and very good vocal ability, even if he doesn't sing as well now, he is still underrated imo

Bangya! How do you plan your live tours?

I used to live in Tokyo and when I go back for visits I try to stay near Shinjuku station, in that area around Shin-Okubo, Okubo, Nishi-Shinjuku. I think there are a couple of business hotels near Like an Edison for around 7,000 yen per night. Since I like to go for 2 to 3 weeks and stay in Tokyo the whole time, I’ve been getting places on Airbnb so I can have a kitchen. For my next trip I got a studio apartment near Shin-Okubo for about $800 (USD) for 2 weeks. It’s a lot more than normal rent, but cheaper than a business hotel in the area. Airbnb also has some guesthouse-style places with private bedrooms and shared kitchens and bathrooms which are much cheaper. As a resident of Japan I was usually stuck on Willer Bus when I traveled to other cities, but as a tourist I get the JR pass and travel in luxury on the Shinkansen. Worth it. If you’re getting on the Shinkansen in Tokyo and going west/south, try to use Shinagawa station instead of Tokyo station. Shinagawa has a nicer layout and is much easier for transfers, and it has better bentos for sale. Those of you coming to Tokyo from other cities might want to get off in Shinagawa instead of Tokyo too. Outside Tokyo I normally get business hotels on Rakuten, but In Osaka I’ve usually stayed at Hotel Chuo in the Dobutsuen-mae area. That neighborhood is sketchy by Japanese standards, but it’s clean and safe compared to Western cities. This is one of the better hotels in that area. It has private guest rooms and shared bathrooms, and advance bookings are 2600 yen/night for a single. Every time I’ve been there the clientele seems to be a mix of bangya and foreign backpackers. http://www.chuogroup.jp/chuo/english/index.html

    Overrated/underrated Jrock singers

Underrated: Riku from Phantasmagoria, even if he isn't the best. Kyouki from Grieva, because people say he tries to sound like Kyo (Even though he sounds nothing like him, and actually uses better technique, tbh..) and I've heard all the accusations of him being autotuned, just because of how his backup vocals sound and because the way the production sounds. However, he's pretty much the same live, records his own backups and gets the same processing treatment that Yo-ka from Diaura gets. And last time I checked, Yo-ka is revered for his vocals. In fact, since Grieva went original now, they deserve much more credit than they used to. Asagi from D. Kaya Chiaki from Dezert. I literally hear no praise for his screams or feminine vocals, which are quite impressive. Mei from Kuroyuri to Kage. I often hear the same thing about his screams, "His screams aren't powerful enough", but that doesn't show the point. The screams aren't meant to be powerful. They're Jonathan Davis type screams. Also, there are his signature whine vocals. While vocalists in the past have experimented with the whine-vocals, such as Ruki from The GazettE, or Tusk Itaya from Zi:Kill, they're a signature part of Mei's vocals. Mahiro from Kiryu. I keep hearing so much criticism on his vocals, especially from the snobbier people of Vkei (*Cough* TeppyBaka *Cough*), but, if you can combine traditional Japanese vocal techniques with western techniques, AND add your own twist to it, you're doing something right. Overrated: Ruki from The Gazette (Well, he actually used to be quite unique, when he sang more aggressively and rolled his Rs. Now he sounds like every other Vkei vocalist. Kamijo from Versailles. Tsuzuku from Mejibray And then there is one I have a weird position on: Kyo from Dir En Grey. I don't think he's necessarily overrated, but I think he is overpraised. Like, even after all the numerous surgeries, and learning correct techniques, he often still goes into incorrect techniques that could quite potentially harm him again in the future, or while not harming, make him sound worse than he really is. Singing, for the most part, he's got down. Regular screams, he's got down. However, the squeals a few of the growls concern me. However, the biggest complaint I have is his mic technique, as starting from Marrow of a Bone, he began cupping the mic, which any sound guy and microphone manufacturer will tell you is really bad mic technique and is the reason why his singing sounds so weird live. I mean, if you look at the 2007 Hide Memorial summit footage, you can hear the mic audio going from good to bad as he cups and uncups it. And don't go "look, little girlie, you don't know anything about death metal, it's just a death metal technique, you have to cup the mic.", because then you'll have to explain the death metal bands where the vocalists play guitar. They exist, and they sound way better than most death metal bands. I'll even go into the science of how a microphone works if I have to.

Bangya! How do you plan your live tours?

North-wise of Kyoto if that helps at all with placing me, haha. It's a bit less than that, but 13,000 yen one way is still more than I can really stomach. I'd agree about Willer's comfort levels too, just if you're tall with long legs like me, try and get aisle seats when you can. Also seconding that about Japanese bangya. Like any fans of course there's some that aren't so pleasant, but I've found 90% of the time they're super sweet and eager to talk to you once they realize you know some Japanese. I've made some amazing friends that way. The scene's fun, but it's even more fun when you can make friends to enjoy it with imho. It's also a great way if you're learning Japanese to really test how far your language skills can carry you! Definitely do it! I really wanted to go to Fukuoka but my work schedule just wasn't having it, but I'm happier with the way things panned out with Sapporo anyway.

Bangya! How do you plan your live tours?

I always get shy around Japanese fans/bangya, to the ridiculous point that yesterday I was next to this girl and she was alone and looked very friendly but the only interaction we ended up having is after the live, when we spent like 5 minutes apologizing to each other about accidentally bumping our heads while moshing. D: Maybe spending 6 hours on a bus with people could be more beneficial for that purpose. Or seizing the moment and actually TALKING to people. I think that would be my tip - don't be me, talk to people, they all seem so nice! Anyway I'm spoiled so I always find a way to get home the same day - the furthest I've traveled so far for a live was from Tokyo to Ibaraki.

MORRIGAN's sound is softening overall and it's not a bad thing, at first It seemed for a while like each release of theirs was only good for that one headbanger that sounds like an updated version of the banger from the last release.. now of course they are building that body of work with some emotional draw and I love it because I weirdly stanleyed XIBALBA in highschool... Tranq, ASPIRIN and 顔ノ亡ヰ聖母 were all pretty good from the album, but damn SUPERSTAR is beastly I love both sections of it.<3 Uhm so was "XISS" always supposed to be saying "Kiss" ?? Haha wow well that's something I finally understand, weird to sub the X in for the K instead of the vowel in the middle as in "KXSS" I thought they were saying it like KRAD's mini album "XisDead" = "'x' is dead" = EXISTED" ^ low key the last meaning didn't hit me until my dad said it... he was lucky enough to see it at Tower and he's like oh that's clever. I'm like yeah I knew that... I'm clever like you guys right?

    The big TV-series discussion thread

Finished watching 13 Reasons Why. I have mixed feelings on this one. Yeah, I read the book back in 2009 or something and got excited finding out they were adapting it, it can easily work as a series. However there were several issues with it. To start with, the main character. He's especially unlikable & plain. Like, I get it that he's just your average awkward kid, but he brought the show down until the last 2 episodes where the actor finally learned how to actually do something with the role. Secondly, the pacing was painfully slow. I think they needed to keep filling the show with unnecessary stuff to make into a standard length Netflix series, which ruined it imo. There was no need to fill the episodes with some lawsuit bullshit, no need to drag them out with teenagers bickering, not when the dialogue is so cringe worthy. So, I was just bored through scenes and scenes of Clay's face staring into nothing and people saying some cheesy line then walking off into nowhere. It'd have been way better if the story was more focused...like the book. But the third point ties in with the second one, because they wanted to pump as much content into the story to fill it out they also wanted to use that content to make points which are trendy\relevant nowadays (rape, bullying obviously, objectifying women, male gaze, etc.) but some points are just pulled out of their ass in the last episode, leaving the good ones to the side. That being said, I still enjoyed it. It's a story that's even more powerful when you can watch it and I'm surprised they did the abuse scenes very well without shying away at the horror of it, I did struggle to watch 3 scenes in particular which led to the story having an impact on me overall. 7/10

And in comparison to some folks here, my taste is in dire need of an expansion. Anyways, Anemone will still be my favorite song by Pentagon, hands down.
