Neither for me, they are always either hit or miss. Especially with certain bands or artists. Also, it is the nostalgia thing. I might able to appreciate the new old songs when I hear it, but I don't ever consider it as the same song anymore. I enjoy remastering better than these two options.

Re-recordings are a mixed bag. Some of them are great, some of them are dog shit! I think the only band who has hit it out of the park with re-recordings is and cali≠gari (not counting the TURN minis, those are... a different realm). The complete re-recordings of 10 and Bluefilm are far superior to the originals, as is マグロ 2017. lynch. and girugamesh have also done very well with their re-recordings (although for lynch., their album version re-recordings were not very good, like JUDGEMENT and ADORE). Everyone else (I can think of) has been mixed... MUCC did fantastic with 新痛絶 and 新葬ラ謳; some of the songs were better than the originals, though there were a few others that were sub-par. On the other hand, their other re-recording album, the one that shamelessly appropriated BUCK-TICK's 殺シノ調ベ, was dog shit. My problem with a lot of re-recordings isn't so much the vocals, it's that the guitars are severely lacking and just sound weaker IMO, like on DIAURA's INCOMPLETE, グリーヴァ's re-recording mini (they should have just released the full demo of Bondage, I will never forgive them for not doing that), and a lot of SUICIDE ALI's re-recs. I'm not a recording engineer and I do not play guitar, so I'm not really sure how I can explain this better. Although there are definitely some re-recordings where everyone does a piss poor job all around. Rant time: the GazettE's TRACES VOL. 2 is an exhibit to present in these arguments: talent ≠ intelligence; the GazettE are some of the stupidest fucking people in music; bands should stop self-producing their albums unless they're Converge. Production-wise alone, it could have sounded better, but it didn't, because they wasted production money on special instruments and completely forgot that garbage-in is garbage-out, and because they were monitoring it with fucking EarPods and probably laptop speakers as well. I guess if your band name is all lowercase, you're more likely to make great re-recordings :thonk:

I tend to treat re-recordings and originals as two different songs. It doesn't bother me when bands re-record their songs as long as it sounds somewhat different or the production is better. But I honestly can't think of an re-recordings that are carbon copies of their original anyway. I feel like it's always worth their time because it's probably less effort than writing a new song, and it's something they can put on their new album/single. However of course that doesn't mean it's worth the fans time or money... My favorite remakes are Etsu to Utsu and Kyoka Suigetsu from Kiryu's 2007-2017 album. I don't listen to the originals of those songs anymore. Etsu to Utsu was my favorite Kiryu song after it came out and I never thought they would top it, so I was pleasantly surprised when they did with the re-recording. I also love most of the songs from Liphlich's first acoustic album, and I think that's a great example of remaking songs with purpose. Obviously a lot of changes had to go into making those songs acoustic and I don't think they were remade just to sound better or new.

While “rain” seems a bit negative and depressing to modern people, everything is inextricably linked to each other, and because there is something negative, there is also a positive. If we can see it all in such a kind of “light“, the message is that “negative” isn’t just always something “negative“. Why did you decide to use “RANA” as a band name? And what does it actually mean? Rana is the human condition from a perspective that crosses the boundaries of living things. In keeping with that theme, we could have also used any non-human creature. AME OTOKO AME → So the word RANA felt right. Your costumes look trendy, so what about your costumes for RANA? How do you decide? We choose the ones that fit our music, based on fashion trends. Due to Corona your activities and appearances of live shows have been postponed. What would you want to accomplish when you finally can stand on stage? How did you write and create the new songs? AME OTOKO AME → We composed the EP by using smartphone voice memos and D.A.W.’s (Digital Audio Workspace). Do you have any fun comment to tell about your MV’s to “蛙の悪戯” and “蛙の詩”? 蛙の詩 is the front side, 蛙の悪戯 the back side of our image. For the MV’s, we had a meeting with the director and left everything up to his own imagination. Why did you choose the titles “蛙の詩(Frog Poem)” and “蛙の悪戯 (Frog Mischief)” for your 1st EP and 1.5 EP? AME OTOKO AME ↓ 1st → The title track [蛙の詩(Frog poem)] is used as it is. 1.5th → Since the theme is unhappiness, it’s a mischievous frog who can be compared to God’s mischief. Ari’S → I think that the conventional wisdom of the entertainment industry will not be accepted at all in this day and age, so we have no choice but to continue to search for entertainment that meets the needs of the times. I hate that they started producing music with the lowest common denominator in mind. For their Beautiful Deformity cycle I remember reading an interview where Ruki talked about buying the "right" kind of mic or something and that he wanted to consider the fans that just listened to music through their phone speaker or something like that. People who listen to music that way deserve to have their ears taken from them anyways. I think I get it. I felt that way about re-recordings for Girugamesh's "Goku" and "Gokusou". The production was heavier and they added a lot of flourishes which was nice, but they also updated the sound with their style at the time so it sounded too electronic and clean. So, the originals will always be the one I listen to even if it's more lo-fi and simpler. I always appreciate acoustic versions or different takes. These tend to work out better imo because, like you said, a lot has to change to make it work so bands gotta be more deliberate with the writing. I wish bands like Screw actually did a few remakes. Some vkei bands early on had some ROUGH vocals when they started out. I'm a fan of remastering in most cases too. Less tampering with the original.

4th day in to my music production class and IM ALREADY STUCK : [ anyway who is playin genshin?

Hmm... I always wonder if I'll ever end up in a relationship stable enough for children. I get a sneaking suspicion that it won't happen, but I'm too young to know anything for sure. I have a little less time to have kids than the average woman, unfortunately. Serious reproductive issues run in my family so I have to become pregnant before my early thirties or else I run the high risk of miscarriage and unsafe pregnancy. I would say that I like kids, but I am severely out of my element with them. I didn't get a lot of experience with younger kids my whole life. Nobody wanted me for babysitting because most families choose the kids of people they know over strangers, my few friends growing up were either only kids or the youngest in the family, and I'm a first generation immigrant who left every single member of my family--except for my mom who brought me here--behind. When I get a chance, I like talking to kids. They're always willing to learn and I love teaching kids new things such as new words and new things to do. I'm a bit concerned about the physical exhaustion that comes with kids, though. I'm already low-energy as hell (even had to go to the doc to get tested for some disease or lack of iron and they don't know what's up with me) so I'm not sure how I would fare if I had to care for a kid on top of myself. In the end, I would say that if the pieces fall in place and I have a stable relationship and financial situation, I would like to do my best to raise a child with my life partner.

Agreed. Communicating is difficult and, in many instances, an art. Many people are not willing to put forth the effort of consideration and empathy to accurately get your point across without causing offense. So generally, as you said, people are inclined either to lie, or be as blunt as possible. Both are repugnant and contribute to a poorer society for us all.

It annoys me when bands re-record songs for an album and they end up worse than the originals. I don't mind if they're put as B-sides on a single or on a separate release and I like the rare times when a re-recording is better than the original. The first example that comes to mind is DIAURA's Incomplete best of. Yo-ka grew heaps as a vocalist and I like all the remakes on it better than the originals. MUCC's 2017 remake albums are good too, Gallo's Lucifero, Lar~Mia's S/T, and The God and Death Star's After the Addle Apple come to mind as well

I love children but I don't want them. I'd say I'm quite motherly and I hate to see children upset, and I've been told I communicate with them very well and they seem to like me. I've tried to get jobs at nurseries before because I think it's something I'd be good at. I've never actually wanted any of my own though, and that's the way it's going to stay. When I say I've never wanted them, I mean I've never wanted them, not since I was a kid, not ever. I always got told "oh, you'll change your mind one day, I did" by my mother, and honestly, it hurt that she didn't believe me. Obviously kids can't be expected to make massive decisions at that age but I still don't see the need to be a contrarian. That, and considering my mother later told me she would never have had me if she could go back in time (and she sure as fuck showed it as well), I saw the effects of having children and regretting it first-hand and I would never want to do that to a child of my own. There are many reasons why I don't want them. I'm super ambitious and having a kid would get in the way of me doing everything I want to do. I'm very independent and I don't see me devoting my life to someone else. In the same vein, I'm quite content not having a life partner so the chance of me even finding someone to have a kid with is slim. I also don't like the idea of living with someone else because it would mean I couldn't just go home after a bad day and have my own space. I'm not the biggest and strongest person in the world and I don't deal well with pain so childbirth sounds nightmarish. I had a difficult birth that made me frail as a baby so there's a chance I could pass something like that on. I come from a massive family so it's not like my bloodline's gonna die out anytime soon if I don't have kids (and for the record, one of my twenty cousins gave birth earlier this year). I lived with a few families when I was a teenager and it taught me I'm not the most family-oriented person. The list goes on. I know a lot of people would disagree with me on this but if I ever got pregnant, I'd have an abortion, no question. The closest I could ever get to having a child would be adopting a child I already knew because they couldn't live in their current situation, but what are the odds of that happening?

I want kids! So bad!!! ...When I'm older lol I grew up very family oriented and so for the longest time I've always wanted children of my own (one or two, probably one). Not having children was never a thought. The easiest way to explain my thoughts towards this is that I KNOW for certain I want to be a mom. That's my main life goal. I don't know what type of career I want and I have no other true BIG goals besides you know, following Gaze tours. At some point, I just want to be able to settle down and have children. I would babysit my cousins a lot since they were infants so my patience grew a lot and I love them so muchhhh. I want one. lol. Ideally, I'd love to have one of my own biological child and then adopt a second child. Probably adopt an older kid since they're usually the ones who don't get chosen. I hear adoption is super expensive though... I also really want to experience pregnancy??? I know every pregnancy is different and for all I know I could have the worst luck and get a terrible pregnancy....but I'll take that risk. I really want to experience pregnancy and I want to be a mom and raise a kid and give them the best life possible. I've thought about it a lot. I want to be pregnant by 33 but obviously that might not be the case lol My poor friends always deal with me and my baby talk lol

I barely care for re-recordings except for I get the re-recorded version first. At least usually. There still might be exceptions. One is Gazette's Taion from Traces Vol. 2. In the end even every song from that album even though it took me years for half of the album to grow on me. But most of the times it's really depending on which version I got to know first.

Nope, not at all. Regarding caring about kids I'd be a good parent, I guess. That's the maybe only point that should make me go for a different choice. (However I'm not sure if kids saw it that way though because I'd be pretty strict.) However I neither want to pass on my fucked up genes since I believe that mental health issues are at least partly related to this (even though I'm convinced that shaping/education has more influence on this). But that gets to the next point I'm not in the condition to ever give to a kid what they'd need. And aside from this I wouldn't want to put my body as well as my mental condition through pregnancy. Not a single bit.

In my opinion, I always prefer the original one, so the first-take recording. for example MEJIBRAY has a song called "KILLING ME" (First single) re-recorded 2 extra times, one in the Emotional Karma album (2012) and the final album in their best-single album SM (2017). And both of them are feeling too much forced like in vocals and in instrumentals. but I do have to say, in some cases like re-recording from demo releases are sometimes slightly a little better, like Royz their demo and Diaura's demo release. The quality is somehow better. ^^

Even though I went for "nah", deep down I still would like to pass on my genes. I don't have motherly instincts, I deeply dislike children and have 0 patience with them. I don't know if I'll ever be ready to sacrifice every second of my life for them. The whole process of pregnancy sounds not worth the pay off and adoption seems ridiculously challenging. To top it all off I don't wanna put someone in a world that seems to be going to shit at record speed. I enjoy my freedom too much and already have enough on my plate looking after myself, but who knows, maybe one day biology will back stab me and the desire to pass on my genes will take over. Last year my nephew was born and I do find myself thinking about the day we'll be able to run after each other and I'll be able to read him books, but what makes it so special is that I don't actually have to have him with me 24/7.

I answered other for a kinda mixed reason. I have no real desire to have children because I've already had one. Granted, I did not keep her. I wasn't in a good place at the time and decided it was best for someone who couldn't have a daughter to take care of her as much as I wanted to. Also... I don't handle children well. Even if they are blood related I have always had a short leash for them and even disliked being around other kids when I was younger as well. Something about the unpredictability and not being able to be left alone just makes it too much for me.

I'm at a weird point where I know a super basic amount of Japanese words and grammar that I'm able to pick out a lot of words and context from Vkei songs. Maybe there is hope in me learning Japanese. Just gotta find the right program to work with. I tried Duolingo but I didn't like it too much.

Sometimes I sit and wonder which bandmen still live with their. parents. Sometimes I take it even a step further and wonder what happens when these late 20s early 30s something year old men with facial piercings come home to their moms at 2 in the morning after a gig drunk out of their mind

Is it just me, or does the chorus for "Carnation" by Kamaitachi go "Thank you for your kindness, I must die by suicide"?

Their demo sample is good. It's some different kinda style than what I usually listen to but its nice so far.
