What type of tribute bands? Tribute bands playing covers, or tribute bands who write original tracks but does everything in their power to make it sounds like the original band?

If it's the first, which I assume, I can not tell you because for most part it's lame as fuck. If it's the latter it's because it's awesome.

there's honestly no point to just blandly covering an artist's songs the exact same way they originally played them (but worse)

I agree. If you're gonna make a cover song, album or whatever, the least you can do is to make the track your own. Make it sound like you made it.

Moonsorrow's cover of Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is a perfect example of how I want my cover song. If you're familiar with the original you'll easily recognize it, but aside from the lyrics which is sung in English as opposed to their usual Finnish  the entire track sounds like an authentic Moonsorrow track. Sounds like they wrote it.

You don't have to like it, but that's how you make a cover IMO.

Because Moi dix Mois is mainly all the same style and instrumentation, while MALICE MIZER songs and albums are super varied and with a lot of different instruments and sounds.

MALICE MIZER also has more dynamic and fresh composition, while a lot of Moi dix Mois is more repetitive. It's because in MALICE MIZER, there were professional arrangers and helpers with the compositions, especially for the merveilles album, while in MdM, Mana does most alone.

@fitear1590I absolutely love everything about Studiopolis  and Press Garden. Both zones are so fucking beautiful. The latter actually reminds me a bit of the old Shinobi games, I'm guessing it must be intentional. Stardust Speedway is great as well. Actually, I've enjoyed just about every zone in the game so far, maybe w/ the sole exception of Lava Reef Zone... Great game though, between games like Shovel Knight, Environmental Station Alpha and Sonic Mania the last couple of years have been VERY good for people into the retro aesthetic

@YuyoDriftWell, tbh most of the recent Sonic games have been less than stellar, so I'm not surprised people have been cautious about the whole thing pre-release, but the actual end product is just gorgeous. Makes me wish more people would stop following the whole "it's 3d so it must be better!"-meme that a lot of the gaming industry seems to be stuck in. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate 3D or anything, but even the PS1 era already showed how much tight shit one could do with sprites and all on new hardware and yet its still generally overlooked (except by indie devs)

I quite liked it to be honest... the longer tracks are the best elements of the album and just for clarify, funny or not, I won't join the train "GazettE will recycle it in who knows what year" because I listen to both of them and they are different musically, even if belonging to the same genre... it's a question of shades imo.
