If there's no thread here, that implies no one cared enough to listen to it. I don't want to speak for everyone on this forum, but YOHIO isn't popular here for many reasons and opening discussion won't make him more popular. Some just hate because he's living the dream. Others hate because he sounds like a transplant of poorly-done visual kei (note NOT a poorly-done visual kei transplant; if he actually sounded decent he might have fans). For me, it always seemed as if YOHIO wasn't popular more so because he took the rose-tinted glasses off the scene so we can see what caked-on foundation and desperation looks like and less because he sucks musically. The man can shred a guitar, select western audiences are becoming slightly more receptive to less traditional metal aesthetics, and I've heard worse visual kei bands stanned for less. Seremedy was hot garbage and I'm glad that's gone, and whatever side project that spawned off of the four leftover members is equally as irrelevant, but DISREIGN is proof of western scenes willing to accept visual kei for me; it's a budget The GazettE clone but no one minds because they're palatable enough to get by. consider this my mini review of his entire career.

    Hello and thanks for existing

Hi everyone. I say "thanks for existing" because it's really neat for me to see so many people together who share my interests. It's totally out of my comfort zone to go about and do this as I am a "suffer in silence" type, but I thought it was about time I try to reach out and get more involved in this music scene, maybe make a friend or two with similar interests. But if not it's okay, I just like reading what you all have to say anyway. I am from a tiny town in the South of the US, so I haven't gotten the chance to see many bands live or meet people who even like this kind of music. I've been listening for about 10 years, though I stopped a few years ago after Vidoll disbanded (my favorite band back in 2011, though now I see it was just because my teen self was infatuated with Jui, lol. still am tho) and I have been listening again since last April when I saw The GazettE live. I've never tried to socialize online with other VK fans until now, I don't really know why. But here I am! I like everything from oldies like Luna Sea, Buck-Tick, Malice Mizer, Aliene Ma'riage, Baiser, to bands like DaizyStripper, Matnerou Opera, etc! ! Ive recently gotten back into the scene and I'm discovering the potential of newer bands like Arlequin, xaa-xaa, Jiluka, HOLLOWGRAM, and beyond. If you have any recommendations I'd love them as well. Well thanks for reading and I'll try to make my voice heard here! Nice to meet you all.

SCAPEGOAT Vo.春 (Haru) will be absent from live performance as he will have to rest his voice for over a month due to vocal cord paralysis, and 柳 (Ryu) (ex-MoNoLith) will act as Guest Vo. at their live at Yokohama BAYSIS at 2017/2/4.

    Maria Cross's gay porn video

There should not be any dispute about VK bandomen being associated with these porn circles or not since it's rather obvious that they ARE in fact very close with certain agencies, industries etc. Come to think of this example: what the heck is that IV fuccboi (?) from ViViD doing nowadays? He would be cashing in some serious ¥¥¥¥¥ in COAT-WEST and whatnot if you guys get what Imma saying, huh (AFAIK a lot of you actually share my sentiments about him, no homo no hetero)? Kinda validates my statements in regards to how e.g. idol group scene kinda double-standardizes the image of "innocence" with various figures being involved in gravure, even hardcore porn as we speak (e.g. Kamen Joshi). God bless this decadent sub-culture. We are all doomed, folks.

Even though i do find that one DISREIGN sign boss, i vote we blacklist Western v-kei bands (or as i like to call em: Swed-kei) from discussion here lmao Or black listing YOHIO in general would suffice.

It's not an inherent dislike of Western visual-kei in my case, but it's more that just about every Western visual-kei band has tried to emulate styles and hallmarks that I find to be the worst part of the scene, mixed with occidental influences that I also dislike. I say most because there have been a handful of examples that really weren't too bad. While I do not have any official numbers, and this may just be confirmation bias, but it does seem like most Western vkei bands come from Sweden (especially in response to Yohio getting attention at whatever that European American Idol thing everyone on Twitter cares about, as well as in Japan from people like Dada and Kenzi. He more or less made the dream real). There's a fair number from Brazil and Chile as well, but outside of their own attempts at promoting themselves on last.fm, here, or on Facebook, they never really got much attention.

Yeah, it's crazy how much support they have for an entirely new band with no veterans from the scene. Not many indies VK bands can hold a free concert, collaborate with a clothing brand and organize their first one man within 6 months despite their only releases being live limited. AND their latest single, albeit limited to X copies, sold out on pre-orders and day one purchases alone, while only being sold through indies VK record shops. Crazy.

    Hi!

I think it's been a good 10 years since I last posted on a BBS, but I've been looking for a J-rock/V-kei community for a while now and I was glad to find this one (figured that if I can't shut up about the music I love listening to I should probably join!). I'm really into MUCC these days (can't wait for their new album! Just a couple more days!), and really love the big classic geezers (X Japan, Luna Sea, Buck-Tick, Kuroyume). I also love going to gigs and finding new bands to listen to. Thought the scene was dead until a year ago, but nope, still alive and kicking. DEZERT are currently my favorite fairly-new v-kei act. They're unpolished (sometimes in a good way) but give good vibes and have an interesting interaction with their audience. I'm here to learn (so many bands I've never heard of just from skimming through the site, yay!) and meet new people. So, um, hi!

    Picture upload/insert

All you have to do is to upload your photos to a public webhost such as tinypic, Photobucket or Imgur (the latter is recommended), and use the BBCode url, which you paste here in your comments. It would look like this; [- img -]http://i.imgur.com/Se9g76n.png?1[- /img -] (without the dashes in the brackets.)

ONE OK ROCK - New Album Ambitions

Yeah, this is not my favorite song on the album either, I don't blame him lol. But the video was cute. Kinda wish it would have shown them tracking down all 4 members because I'm kind of sick of OOR = Taka's face.

    Versailles new CD release

There's some good and some disappointing to be heard in this previews. A solid fifty seconds for each song is virtually unheard of when bands give us ten to fifteen seconds now. Their self-titled is the bar I judge all their new material off of. This fits somewhere between the best of album and Holy Grail, probably closer to Holy Grail. Listening to these previews really highlights how tired HIZAKI's compositions are. He's great when noodling on his guitar alone for minutes on end but when tasked to make space for a vocalist he recycles the same guitar techniques and motifs. Even if his compositions are aurally different, they all still sound alike. KAMIJO and TERU definitely need to compose more. MASASHI needs to step it up as well since his contributions have been good quality. More diversity is what this band has always needed. I'd kill for a Versailles release where everyone but HIZAKI writes a song. Songs sound okay. "Inheritance" and "Marionette" get my attention the most but since all previews were the chorus that's not a fair way to judge anything. I'll probably end up liking them all.

    Exist Trace

So it's the feeling of sellout and dropping the dark imagery. Ok I get that. It happens a lot, and occasionally turns the band from a cult band to a monster success, like Journey, Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, and Chicago. I also had a WTF reaction to World Maker, but they pulled back a little with This is Now and I think it was quite good. But I don't see them as generic J Rock. Jyou is too distinctive a vocalist, she and Miko do great two-part harmonies (like Ginger) and Mally is one of the best drummers around.

Jajjaa, cierto.
