Some pretty cool releases here and there for August, I was mostly content with what I heard. As usual, the rules are pretty simple: you can list what releases you thought were the best, and explain why in a few sentences. You can even pick just 1 album if that's all you've got, and try to keep it to a maximum of 5 items. Feel free to add or remove any albums later if you feel like your taste has changed, etc. Oh, and try to include a sample or two so that others could peep those sweet tunes more easily! Aaand here we go~ 黒百合と影 -「臓器のノゾキ穴。」/ Kuroyuri to kage are a pretty decent band, but they really stepped up their game with this new mini album. The whole thing is just bursting with dirty, crunchy dark sounds and moods, encased in powerful little tunes. The inclusion of the re-worked single tracks was a good choice too, they sound much much better than before. One of the near-perfect indies vk releases of the year for me so far, for sure. 雅-MIYAVI- - Fire Bird / Who knew I'd enjoy a MIYAVI album again after the boring disappointment that was THE OTHERS? I sure as hell didn't! I was even skeptical listening to the previews, but song by song the new album won me over big time. I don't know which producers MIYAVI worked with this time, but kudos to the whole team for forging this badass sound. Partly electronic dance music, partly garage-y distorted guitar jammin', and lots of catchy songs. Perfect party album. Ritual Howls - Into the Water / Immensely bleak-sounding goth rock with minimalistic synths and a biting industrial edge. To be honest, I don't remember much of the actual songs now that I think back, but it's just one of those albums that you put on when you're in a certain mood and it washes over you. Great night-time listening. Honorable mentions UNDER FALL JUSTICE - 醜い拒絶 / This almost made my top list. Chaotic, quirky, overdramatic indies vk that's too ridiculous at times, but somehow still works. Hellbringer - Awakened from the Abyss / Old-school thrash/black/speed metal. Tbh it's pretty interchangeable with a dozen other bands, but it gets the job done.

2016/12/17 at 新宿BLAZE, GBBG (GOATBED x BEATGOD) 'one day - two liveshows' event has been announced. Also, new DVD with the BEATGOD liveshow recorded at 下北沢GARDEN 2016/03/04 is under production.

Well it's official, my reign and terror as a 'NEET' is finally over... It was a good run guys, but there comes a time when all good things must come to an end and yeah bills and shit happened too

I think they'd make some pretty amazing anime themes if they ever chose to do so. I'm also pleasantly surprised to see Uri Nakayama get a mention. I haven't listened to the new album yet, but I'm super pleased to see that you're a fan, and just to see SOMEONE talk about her!

Nice work this month, everyone. I like that it's a pretty fair split between vk and other styles. Koochewsen, coldrain, Pentagon, and Hizaki are all already faves and its nice to see all of them slaying right now. <3 ARTIFACT OF INSTANT and forCroiX were both nice surprises! I've never heard of either before but I definitely want to look up more from both now. And R-shitei! Wow! I haven't listened to them in a long time, but I didn't remember them being that good. I will have to get back into them.

Yeah they're both coming to an end. There have been rumors from the start that both bands were temporary and would eventually become one band but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. I'm kinda sad because Hakujitsu is fucking lit and I'm digging Kurohime now but I'm still looking forward to seeing what they're gonna do. My fingers are crossed for a new band with Jitan (their support bassist)

New look They also just announced two double onemans with Kurohime no Muyuubyou. The first will take place on 11/23 at Shibuya REX and the second in Osaka on 12/3 at OSAKA RUIDO. 12/3 will be both Hakujitsu no Yume's and Kurohime no Muyuubyou's last live.

Probably they'll announce it at their last one-man. I'll go there for sure and will also see each of them at at least one other live as well, so I can get their Cds

I also used to find some stuff on the korean website, www.clubbox.co.kr There's a search bar on it, you can try to find one thing or another over there, but people use mostly for Jdramas. To download anything, you need an account, so you'll have to look for an english guide on google. I don't know if it's still worth it. I used to love these older P2P applications, it was a nice way of meeting people who enjoyed specific stuff like trading bootlegs, tereko files, stuff that I can't find anymore. I don't know if OpenNap still exists along with Utatane, but if it does, there's probably a hidden channel just for japanese users who has tons of files, so it's almost impossible to find it, unless you know someone in Japan who trades these kind of files. Anyway, it's forbidden to record concerts (audio/video) in japanese live houses, so that explains why we don't even find updated tereko lists anymore. PS. It would be nice to find and listen to all of these old tereko files, it seems like a lot of lost concerts for western jrock fans, rare gems.

I'm pretty sure as I was reading this my pants flew right off in pure anticipation of how fucking awesome this will most likely be.

I think this short video is related to what I mentioned in my post: But I think @fitear1590also has a brilliant point, and one that hadn't crossed my mind! I completely neglected the fact that I am indeed more of a song-person! For instance, PELICAN FANCLUB'S "MUTE" and "for elite" are some of my favorite songs of the year, yet I only found the album decent at best. In fact, most of the albums I listed under "decent" have two or three killer tracks, just not enough for me to rank higher.

First I just have to ask: why do you call your paintings happy? If you ask me they have a rather gloomy and sinister feel to them. I'm not very fond of your painting style - it looks a little sloppy in my opinion, I believe that if you had certain areas in your paintings with more accurate and less choppy lines that would declatter the composition, and work better for your composition. Like in this piece for example - On the flip side, you have a distinctive style, which makes you recognizable right away - I particularly like the facial feastures of your characters. I also like that your paintings are never dull, and you have some sort of movement or action going on in every one of them, judging by what you've posted so far. In that sense I really like that first picture. I want to say that, if your aim is to draw more-less realistically, you should work more on the proportions and anatomy. But I'm sure you can do it. So keep it up! Looking forward to see your progress.

i'm sad to see that it has come to this. not gonna take sides since I hardly know the details of the drama, but no matter how you look at it this is a blow for people who actually care about the 'no 1 curr' bands, or random ad-hoc sessions, or what live-limited cd is being distributed in sendai next weekend. whether the news is of quality is for the audience to judge; however without an appreciable volume of news filtering in there's nothing left to know about, much less to judge. and regardless if you like trombe, or however questionable his motives may be, it can't be denied that he's been a great service to not just you and me but the international vk community since it should be patently obvious that every self-professed 'vk news source' out there is basically a c+p of what's posted in MH.
