  1. Started binge-watching The Boys today (just premiered yesterday afaik), so far so great. Unconventional superhero themed series from a reverse-perspective and exposing the seedy underbelly of superherodom, kinda like a modern-day Watchmen mixed with some crime/thriller elements. I also browsed into the comics a bit, those seemed cool too so I might give them a read later.

After I'm done with The Boys, next up: the last season of Orange Is the New Black!

Dokkiri! Japanese Indies Music 1976-1989 A History and Guide is close, but either way really quite essential; Public Bath Press in general. they're only available physically, not digitally FWIW.

Great book, super informative with tons of reaaaaally underground stuff and a very thorough historical angle.

For (mostly) visual kei fans there's also the book Jrock, Ink., although I don't know how good or accurate it is. But it has pretty illustrations of bands at least, lol.

  3. Okay, this is pretty great.

I could do without the first minute-or-so (I don't think it goes well with the rest of the song at all), but other than that, this might one of the most enjoyable 'Knot tracks in recent memory for me. Parts like the one from 02:05 onwards bring back that good ol' slammin' aggro-Slipknot vibe I've been missing.

I wonder how much unreleased material they're performing atm or if they're filling up their setlist with songs from their previous bands

As far as I've seen the most they've played so far was 10 songs in total: the tracks from the single + the rest is still unreleased (or at least I didn't recognize any of the titles). I don't think they're playing any stuff from their previous bands, or not sure.

  5. His new song "MOTOR CITY" will be the opening theme to the anime series "ノー・ガンズ・ライフ" (No Guns Life).

If you skip to the 1-minute mark you can hear a sample. Sounds very Kenichi-ish as expected! :D

Fun fact: the last time (I think?) Kenichi's song was used for an anime series was exactly 10 years ago - "MAD SURFER" as the ending theme of "BLEACH".

  6. Finally watched the latest Hellboy movie with a friend. We were prepared it was gonna suck based on what we've heard, but it was actually not too bad. The story was a bit jumbled and they tried to cram way too much in there imo, but the visuals were really neat and there were some satisfyingly gory scenes too. It was okay.

  7. Honestly, I could live without them. Usually when I get a new release I just put the obi inside the booklet, never to glance at it again, lol. So when I buy a used CD it's not a make-or-break situation for me if the obi strip is missing.

The only case where I actually appreciate the obi is when the bands (or, well, the graphic designers) place some funny/amusing/cool artwork or note on the inside part, like a little 'easter egg'. Otherwise I'm not attached to them in any way.
