  1. Tragic lipsync on the last episode, both queens should have gone home just for that (as indicated by Ru's "meh" but I guess the producers have too much power, lol).

This season keeps on getting worse and worse in terms of forced narrative...

what album is best to start with?

From the older stuff, any album between 1990-1995 is a safe bet ("Kurutta taiyou" is my personal favorite).

From the newer stuff, I recommend "MONA LISA OVERDRIVE", "Juusankai wa gekkou" or "Arui wa Anarchy".

  3. ^ I never got into Arch Enemy at all, but that was pretty decent! Maybe I should try their old stuff, heh...

In other news, there is a new Sühnopfer album out and it's so majestic and intense! Gotta confess, never heard of this project before but I'm completely sold by what I'm hearing here. Since then I've already started listening to their previous full-length, solid quality again.

  4. I guess this could even fit into the metal thread, but whatever. Idle Hands released their debut album yesterday, and it's glorious! Combines the lighter and more gothic leanings of occult metal bands like In Solitude with the hymnic qualities of dark bands like The Sisters of Mercy, sort of.

Stream & buy over here: https://idlehandspdx.bandcamp.com/album/mana (it's also up in full on Youtube)

Here's a taste from their equally great EP from last year:

  5. Young psych-heads HIBUSHIBIRE have just released their 2nd album "Turn On, Tune In, Freak Out!" today on Riot Season Records. If you like trippy jammin' rock like Acid Mothers Temple, I highly encourage you to give them a try (Kawabata Makoto of AMT actually produced both of the band's albums).

Link to the album where you can stream & buy: https://riotseasonrecords.bandcamp.com/album/turn-on-tune-in-freak-out

Their first album if this caught your attention: https://riotseasonrecords.bandcamp.com/album/freak-out-orgasm

  6. If it's something new, I prefer CDJapan. Never disappointed me for the past 13-14 years.

If it's something used (and potentially more indies-vk), I ordered a bunch of times from Closet Child and Brand-X. This was yeaaaars ago tho, so idk how their level of service is nowadays. Once or twice I tried Yahoo Japan Auctions, but only for very cheap used items (like literally 100-500yen) because the proxy shipping fees can get wild.

This was one of those 'cheap bargain bin DVD' finds for me, and I was quite impressed with it! As you said, nothing extraordinary but a very entertaining flick.

  8. For me VITIUM takes the cake, definitely. IMMORTALIS was really weird and overbearing to me at the time it came out, but about one year afterwards it clicked and I completely fell in love with it. ADORATIO is just too much for me, a hodge-podge of ideas with not enough memorable bits (but it's alright I guess, and I'd easily take it over whatever DEG released since DSS).

  9. 浅井健一 (Kenichi Asai) will release his new single titled "METALLIC MERCEDES" on 2019/05/29. It will come in two types: regular CD and limited CD+DVD. The bonus DVD of the limited edition will feature live footage from his solo unit 浅井健一&THE INTERCHANGE KILLS playing an assortment of their own tracks, Kenichi's solo tunes, as well as classics from his old band BLANKEY JET CITY.

    CD tracklist:

    01. METALLIC MERCEDES

    02. INDY ANN

    03. Freedom

By the way, he released two digital singles earlier this year too: "ぐっさり" (Gussari) on 2019/02/27 and "HARUKAZE" on 2019/02/28.

Hopefully this means that a new solo album isn't too far off! 8-)
