what's your method of finding new bands to listen to?

These days, I mostly rely on my friends/social network for good recommendations and a select few sites. Altho in the past, when I was more passionate about finding new music, I'd literally spend hours scouring sites like myspace (yes, i'm THAT old lol), m4247 (now dead) links on band websites, last.fm, and just ANYTHING with information about bands. p2p/pirating was a huge help too.
For you, I would recommend stopping by our sessions @dubtracks, as with the variety of stuff played there, you're almost guaranteed to hear something that piques your interest. I would also recommend joining the trade-offs here, as they're a good way to potentially find new music, expose yourself to new things, find out more about what you like/don't like, etc, and just interface with the users here!

y'all should tell me the secrets to getting cheki (besides going to lives)~

i pay my friends to go to lives to get them so that the money goes to the band. if you want to buy second-hand chekis, you can check out auction sites (mbok has more than yahoo auc), flea market apps, twitter, etc. you'll need a shopping service like FromJapan in those cases. closetchild and puresound have a more limited selection. you should also try to avoid overpaying for secondhand chekis (like those ridiculous people in the FB VK group that ask for 12-15usd for 1 cheki) unless you really really want them.

eek i guess i'm out of luck,,, but thank you for the suggestion! hmm guess i'll just save up for either a new plan or new phone ;__;
@seurongyeah that makes sense when you don't have much. i like to keep all of my stuff with me tho and have 9GB of music out of my 16GB (actually it's like 11 because apple is shit) iphone

I have a 32GB 3rd generation iPod Touch that is my baby. My rule for uploading music to it is: "would I skip this track if I'm listening to my collection on random?". I have it since 2010 and it's still kicking, so that's pretty worthy in my book! Would buy another one in a heartbeat!

can't i just have the gazette's poster and member photos instead of buying the entire $117.71 live tour dvd

so what is the point(s) of men-only lives and women-only lives?
are there different activities suited to the different genders or something???
my friend and i were talking about it earlier and were trying to come up with reasons but we just have no idea.
help please

To add to what has already been said, I've heard gyas are piranhas when it comes to buying tickets, especially because of the lottery system, they buy multiple tickets to try to get a smaller entry number. A male-only live gives the guys the chance to actually get a ticket lol
-
i can only speak for one band but when lynch. does boys only they go balls fucking out judging by the videos, there are dudes riding on each other's shoulders, dudes ripping their shirts off, walls of death, it's pure insanity and mostly the hard songs. i also have a feeling if you are a bandman or normie who is freaked out by gya who wants to actually participate in a live then this is a great choice. then they just do a women's only show so the female fans don't bitch, it's just a regular show...

someone hmu with dark/depressing-sounding kei ♡

ok so i want to buy a couple of magazines off of amazon japan, but they won't ship to my address >:((
can anyone recommend me a shopping service? i've used fromjapan before, but it was pretty expensive, & i don't want to pay an extreme amount for these ¥500 magazines.......

Remember to put in 1 fake fact so you know when people are plagiarizing your work

@PHMK2, GOKI being closer to the original DK than the current DK can probably be explained with a blog entry Yuuga made (cba to find it now), but he said that Gokiburi is what he considers "fun and games", while DK is where he really makes music he likes. So Goki was more or less a Yuuga tribute band (at least until Kazuto were added to the line-up).

question for all you guitar players:
when you first started, what did you learn and play?
did you start with tabs, or music theory and that deep shit? or did you get lessons?
(i'm rlly stuck atm, any replies are greatly appreciated!!)

uhhh i started with stuff i didn't even like all that much, like little exercises and stuff, simple riffs for classic songs. i went through all the simple major chords eventhough i didn't want to do them, but it was really helpful since i was in a lot of pain at first (acoustic isn't for pussies cough cough!) so i got used to holding my fingers down. its little stuff like that to focus on in the beginning because it helps you do the more complicated stuff later [this is what my instructor taught me]. kelly's right with the punk songs and chord progressions, that's a great way to start.

I'm more into the metalcore/djent side of things but you might be interested in Inception of Genocide, Last Day Dream, Oblivion, and HOTOKE.

emmny's recs are on point, but it's also worth mentioning SID's first album "Renai", which honestly is jazz-rock at its best and pretty much started this whole jazzy thing in modern VK. Other bands like SCISSOR, Shichisanshiki and Kazoku also had some really good jazz-inspired stuff.
