    MUCC 3 best albums release

Taking all the b-sides in a compilation and calling it "COUPLING BEST" is dumb. A lot of those tracks are junk! The only one I'd say is worth being referred to as a "coupling best" is Monopoly, which should have just been thrown in on "THE END OF THE WORLD." I never listened to the remixes, I'm sure those are junk, too. As for the BEST OF MUCC II discs, it's nice that they include Diorama, 暁, and those three songs that came with the live DVDs, but everything is in exact chronological order, which is lazy af. Wanna do a best-of compilation, do it right! Get your shit together (lol) Also, "yens" is not a word. The plural for yen is actually yen. Better yet, just use the actual yen symbol (¥), as in: ¥6,920+tax

For me personally aside from otherwise "relaxing" flow and other phonetic mumblejumble it was also about unorthodox vocal-arrangement combinations in otherwise rather casual genres (who would think that fitting baritone/nasal-ish vox with symphonic/power metal would work well as a case in point?) AND allow me to recap myself: (Carm's note: you gotta thank folks like Beatles and earlier black Jazz musician figures for playing around with this progression - as we speak, gospel music often plays around with same chording ideas, funny huh?) Skip the intro and check the ending - there's a huge pool of subtopics related to this subject Friedman was discussing what I would call "Japanese progression". Not saying this would be literally EVERYWHERE (e.g. my standom for Pura merely started out from Britpop fanboying and affinity for special phonetic stuff) but I could honestly say nowadays that this pretty much separates my "palatable japanese taste" from "palatable western (my culture) taste". Speaking of some western figures usually slamming us into "deluded, closed-minded listeners" because of such affinity - lemme counter this with my own take: Japanese way of conveying otherwise "western" genres helped me to look and keep my *EAR* on nuances I usually either missed or never paid attention to in otherwise very "familiar, palatable" english/mother tongue-based music. But then again, that is if you allow yourself to evolve with your tastes per se (whether you "progress" in your taste or not is not dependent on whether you represent the "weeb" culture or otherwise "palatable" culture). I could go on and on about this variety of examples that reformed my musical aficionado self into more "curious" one but that would be just pure thread derailing. So to summarize in a bit more coherent way, two things: 1) "unorthodox, yet oddly palatable" approach in regards to flow, pop songwriting 2) "Same, familiar basis but different interpretation and nuances". I might express my thoughts rather oddly as some may point it out but I am hands down sure at least some "matured " (not to belittle younger generations ofc) J-music listeners get what I am saying...

I'm just curious if they still have the 5k dedicated stans to buy that AYCE edition alone, considering their physical sales been plummeting a.f., and best-of releases typically sell shit in comparison to the actual albums. those other 2 types are legit direct2landfill material, I hope their label invested into some biodegradable plastics for this release batch.

Despite having filed for bankrupcy last year, the magazine just announced the issue of a special edition featuring Nightmare and Plastic Tree on the cover, to come out on February 14th. Other featured bands are MUCC・Angelo・vistlip・D・アンティック-珈琲店-・DaizyStripper・HERO・ユナイト・RAZOR・ザアザア・The Benjamin・グリモア Source: http://shoxx.jp/ Let's remember that Shoxx was one of the biggest and longest-lasting VK magazines in the scene and their bankrupcy was seen as a clear sign of the industry's decline. If even Shoxx is rising from the ashes it's hopefully a sing that VK isn't dead yet and that 2017 will be a better year than 2016.

I think I 'd like to point out something everyone here has seem to have overlooked. This is a Japanese music forum correct? Could this be a reason for the preferences and biases mentioned in this thread? Also from my personal experience American's tend to do the same with music of other languages and almost seem to only enjoy a band if they speak English but as mentioned here perhaps that in itself is also merely a "phonetic" preference on their part. But let's assume we were on an American music forum. Would you not expect the same type of biases?

because sometimes technical proficiency isn't the most important reason, and definitely isn't the only reason, why people listen to the music they listen to and fall in love with the bands they fall in love with. this thing we call "taste" is nothing but an amorphous placeholder for an incredibly complex web of factors including instincts and temperament, environmental and psychological factors, linguistic/cultural affiliations, etc. that no amount of theoretical analysis can ever hope to untangle. even in the extremely rare instance that you can find another person who agrees with you on every single point you make about a band both of you mutually enjoy, i'm willing to bet that the basis for your value judgments about the band will still diverge, simply because, if nothing else, you are two different people. if i'm to push this even further: many people seem to think that 'technical proficiency' is a clear-cut term that requires no further explication. that's far from true. while it's the case that fans would be deeply relieved to find their favorite singers hitting the notes they're supposed to hit and their guitarists executing their tremolos and harmonics competently, it's too easy to name instances where artists who do things generally not recognized as 'proficient' actually making a difference. the pianist claudio arrau, when he was still alive, was constantly ridiculed by musicologists and critics for how slowly he plays his beethoven sonatas (check out his "walden" for starters), but he's now posthumously credited with reading beethoven insightfully with an introspection no beethoven specialist had possessed. likewise, in the realm of art, when henri matisse became bound to his wheelchair in the later part of his life and could no longer hold a paintbrush, he began making 'cut-outs' as art (hardly the pinnacle of artistic virtuosity, you would think...), yet on hindsight his technique directly spawned at least three different art movements in the mid-late 20th century. so if there isn't even a ahistorical standard of what qualifies as 'technical proficiency' in the realm of high art where you'd think experts would have come to some sort of agreement after centuries of bickering debate, attempting to hold it up as some governing authority that ought to adjudicate people's tastes in popular music seems to me rather presumptuous. but to quote you again: and with this you basically just answered your own question. even though music traverses linguistic boundaries, its cultural influences remain unique. musically that's definitely the case (just look at how prevalent the major 7th chord is in japanese pop, compared to western pop). then there's the issue of language that comes into play. it would take a separate long post for me to defend why some people find lyrics to be important, but suffice to say, a song by definition has words, so unless we are going to pretend that all songs are operatic arias in disguise, it's only to be expected that some prefer how meaning is communicated in one language to another (which again has to do with a whole bunch of linguistic features: syntax, structure of address, sociopragmatics, and so on). you might not find the words in the song to be particularly important to your enjoyment of the music (and ofc there's no reason why you should), but it shouldn't be alarming that there are people who attend to that aspect of the song because it's important to them. there's also the phonetic aspect that some people above have already mentioned.

They should re-release COVER PARADE, but as a general release this time. Could probably toss in a bunch of their other covers since I doubt people want to buy every single tribute album. That would have made a cooler disc 4 than a bunch of remixes.

I'm not so sure about the release guys. I read the announcement as 'We were originally planning to release an album', but can't because of Akane's health and the member changes. With the hiatus this will be postponed. I also read this as 'We were originally planning to continue with Shinya as a member, but as of now, can't continue at all' -> therefore, hiatus. I don't expect D.I.D. to be back very soon, then they wouldn't call it an indefinite hiatus. And no band releases an album during their hiatus, without any promotion or tour going along. My Japanese is rusty, but I really wouldn't get my hopes up at all.

He worked 90 hours for what?!? Sure, La Venus is a new recording but Without You was probably in the can for quite a while now. The rest are just the same-old same-old. I've thrown out these numbers before but here's X Japan's output through what I've grouped as their major recording / releasing moments: 1987-1991: 25-30 songs: Vanishing Vision, Blue Blood, Jealousy, Art of Life (The last one was written / recorded in 90 and 91 but released later of course) 1992 -1997: 11 songs or so: Dahlia + The Last Song 1998-2017: 10 songs or so. I've included their hiatus years since Yoshiki recycled a few Violet UK songs for X Japan Depending on how you look at it, releases and songs are getting less and less as more time goes on. If and when this new album comes out, that's it. X Japan as we know it will just be a live act milking the fan's wallet's dry. And if you really want to look at it, their most productive period was when X was a band with everyone contributing (87-91). Basically as soon Taiji got kicked out, they became X Japan and Yoshiki became a mega diva, the band as a whole stopped functioning properly as a recording artist.

    The general Metal discussion thread

Code are still active, but they're not a black metal band anymore. Their last album, Mut, is more of a progressive post-rock album. Not bad, but not too interesting either. As far as Emperor goes, I'd say Emperor / Wrath of the Tyrant, As the Shadows Rise, In the Nightside Eclipse and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk are all good releases. And therefore I'll recommend them in that order. I can't stand IX Equilibrium and Prometheus - The Discipline of Fire & Demise, but considering you prefer a more modern take on black metal the latter two will probably please you a bit more.

    Killing Stalking

After seeing this thread I looked up Killing Stalking. I'm caught up, what can I say? I hate gore and I despise yaoi for the exact reason that most girls go crazy over it, gay relationships + abuse = THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH hnghhr I had one look at a few fan pages and backed away in disgust. But, apart from that I'm waiting for more. I haven't read something that made me feel this anxious and scared in a long time. The art is cool and characters keep surprising me. I'm just on edge all the time. Can Sangwoo just die ,please?
