I was in the mood for a crappy thriller, so I watched Thr3e (2006). It's one of the only movies I've ever seen that's actually as bad as the Rotten Tomatoes reviews make it out to be.
The character of the aunt was so ridiculous and out of place that I thought it was a joke at first, and the dialogue is so bad that it's not even fun to laugh at.

Saw II is still one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen, even by the incredibly low standards of that particular corner of the genre. Why the hell would the guy immediately decide a murderous rampage - especially when he was outnumbered like 5 to 1 and the other people were still trying to cooperate with him - was the only way to get the numbers from the backs of the other prisoners' necks? Literally all he had to do was ask them to turn around and show him or, worst case scenario, find an excuse to come up behind them and slyly push their hair/clothes to the side? Still boggles my mind that someone actually wrote something so stupid and people went "Okay, sounds good, let's film that".

I've never really been able to get into LEZARD, but I'm liking the new song a lot!

None of these bands are really the type I would usually go for, but Oshimai was catchy so I've been keeping an eye on Kizu.
I'm not into the wrist-cutting emo kid aesthetic, but Lime is exactly the kind of frontman I can't get enough of (short, with a sort of bratty onstage persona - ex. Daishi from PLC and Noah from Avanchick), and I love his voice, so I'm hoping they do well. I think they mentioned that they're going to drop the white facepaint after their one-man (or maybe I read that wrong?), so I'm curious to see if their concept will change a bit in the future.

I was a little nervous after the video tracks, but the previews for the rest of Bentham's new album sound so good. Chicago has grown on me a lot too after hearing it separated from that weird MV.

It was at a convention though? I don't know if this one is different, but you usually don't need to sell any tickets at a convention because the concert is included with admission.
I know some of the bigger cons hold concerts with separate tickets, but I can't imagine them doing that for bands like Misaruka and Rose Noire. I mean, I've seen like half the Starwave roster live because my local conventions had their bands (Rose Noire, umbrella, the fool, marlee, lix., etc.) playing for free and I already had the pass.

I'm not much of a singer and I don't go to karaoke often, but I did okay with L'Arc~en~Ciel's "Blurry Eyes" once. I sang along to it so many times in my teens that the words are firmly embedded in my mind, so it didn't really matter that I couldn't read the kanji on the screen. I also sang ELLEGARDEN's "Jamie" that time, but it's not VK and it's in English, so I guess that doesn't really count.

Haha, I do love Sharaku, but it's okay. I'm not really big on meeting bands (I'm too shy to say anything other than "Thank you!" most of the time), so missing the Q&A wasn't a huge loss. It's just kind of annoying that I've been to almost all the AN band Q&As and I dropped the ball when a band I actually like was there. Still, I randomly saw them in different parts of the convention on both Friday and Sunday, so I still ended up with plenty of awkward metronome memories over the course of the weekend.
Parts of the Q&A usually end up getting posted online, and sometimes it gets transcribed by VK websites, but I didn't see anything in the days after the event. I'm really surprised by how little coverage there was this year.

Along with the association there's trademark issues. Bands with an existing trademarked name in the US have to come up with a new name. Testament is probably the best known case. They were known as Legacy and signed to a record deal under that name. When they went to trademark it, they saw another band had the name and had to change theirs.
Granted this Dio will likely never set foot in the U.S. but isn't there still potential overlap with the U.S. Dio in Japan as well? Or is Japan so completely isolated musically they can get away with it?
Technically they are called "Dio - distraught overlord", and they're not really famous enough for the average metal fan to even come across them online, so I don't think it's ever really been an issue?

I know Pentagon performed under the name "Pentagon Japan" during their recent convention appearance in the US, since they didn't want to be confused with a Korean group with the same name, but I think that had a lot more to do with the fact that either group could have logically been performing there. Plus they had exactly the same name. "Dio - distraught overlord" is probably different enough for them to get away with it?

Just watched Havenhurst, and it was terrible. Not even bad in a so bad it's good kind of way, just horribly unsatisfying and pointless. I mean, they had the budget, concept and the cast to make a predictable, yet still kinda cool movie, but they totally blew it with the plot.
