@Jigsaw9 hahahaa there we have it. I've honestly had no interest in Daron's solo project. Took one listen and just didn't find it interesting.

I just invited everyone in my church to go to the Dir en Grey concert XD

I got the fevers for another tradeoff. I've made 3 new ones and I'm dying to use emmmm.

@Bear Yeah, really fantastic stuff! It's refreshing to hear something so different than his work as Perturbator. Caught me by surprise how good this is. Did you pick up a vinyl copy via Neuropa? Was released like a week ago.
-
@plastic_rainbow Def! I actually had you in mind when listening to this!

@karai · ebi Thanks for the recommendation! Haven't heard of them.

Guys Dir en Grey tomorrow! I can't sleep!

What are your favorite Kyary songs? Trying her out, I like moshi moshi harajuku, not really liking her other stuff.

I think for April Fools, the mods should change everyone's name color to blend with the background.

Worst part about sharing work files with a ton of people is that someone deletes or hides something, doesn't tell you, and makes you think all your work is gone. I don't need a heart attack 😫

It's less about the files and more about screens that I'm uploading to a prototyping site. I need to share these with other designers and project managers, but somehow things either get shifted or entire projects archived. What I've done for now is remove people that aren't working on the project currently (because it actually happened again yesterday *sigh*), and if they ever need access again I can give it to them.

Just watched The Invisible Man (2020) and, meh...

@YuyoDrift - I was excited for it because I've always enjoyed Leigh Whannel's past works. But like his other movies, there are things I really liked but it all just kind of fizzled out by the end. It wasn't terrible, but it just didn't feel solid enough.
I'm actually looking forward to Candyman because Jordan Peele produced and co-wrote the script for it. And I've thoroughly enjoyed both get out and us.

@reminiscing2004 That's dope. I'd wanna see that live. If the live vibe is anything like the music, then I'm sure it was crazy.

This must have been one tour after I saw them, but its a lot like I remember. There was a few times where the drummer would be playing up until the climax/drop of a song, and then he would jump into the audience and mosh with everyone. The singer/main guy was wearing a dress and some sort of make up costume for half the set, and his girlfriend was filming on an old video tape recorder. Really fun

The new Denzel Curry album is llllit

I also vouch for Denzel. He's a great lyricist that isn't afraid to experiment with different sounds. Bouncing between this album, Tyler's "Igor", and J.I.D's "Dicaprio 2". They're all a breath of fresh air in a scene that's currently dominated by mumble meme rap.
-
Cat you’d like curry I think. He’s not woke in any corny obtuse way and he’s all about the culture while at the same time being very smart about it. It’s not for me, but I like his oldest stuff from raider clan era. Saw him live one year ago and if anyone gets a chance then go for sure it was amazing. He actually left the stage after some idiot finn threw a shoe at him lol

2019 was good year to start getting into rap and hip hop:

Yeah, but if you haven't been into rap before now you seriously need to check out the classics from the 80's and 90's. Straight Outta Compton, The Chronic, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Mama Said Knock You Out, Raising Hell and so on. The amount of must-hear hip hop albums from the 80's and 90's are just insane. Very different from modern stuff tho, but it's not unusual to hear some very, very, very clear nods towards the older stuff.
And if you're into the whole Atlanta trap scene and trap music in general then the 90's Memphis scene is a must. "Everyone" from Drake and Migos to ASAP Ferg, Asap Rocky, Cardi B, Rae Sremmurd, Young Buck, Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, Chief Keef, Trippie Redd, Lil Yachty, Suicideboys, ScHoolboy Q, E-40, Waka Flocka Flame and many, many more have either used some well-known Three 6 Mafia flows/verses or had beats with Three 6 Mafia samples or just remixed some tracks. Which I really like btw, and it's about time Three 6 Mafia and the Memphis scene finally got the recognition it deserves. Which is also why Juicy J pops up everywhere nowadays. Well deserved. Easily my favourite rap scene and many of my favourite 90's hip hop albums were released by Memphis artists.
The whole "Migos flow" which has been incredibly popular these last decade is basically nothing but a (Three 6 Mafia) Lord Infamous flow, which was a flow that got pretty popular in the Memphis scene during the 90's. And Migos quite obviously got it from them. Such a sexy flow too.

@YuyoDrift - I feel you on YT. Honestly, I kind of keep up to date through keeping tabs on upcoming vinyl releases. There's a couple places where I go to keep my eyes open for popular releases and go from there.
And, kind of silly, but also through meme videos. It sounds funny, but often times I'll find a lot of good music on the most random youtube videos. I found out about Deathgrips and DaBaby that way. And Tyler the Creator I discovered when he made an appearance on The Eric Andre Show. -
@Bear - I knowww. This is awesome, I don't know any of the classics so this will be a great starting point. I got a lot of listening up to do.

Someone just fell on me in the bus and we both shared this moment of, "uhhh did that just happen?" "It's all good bro"

This has def. been plug'd or dub'd, probably by @CAT5 b/c I remember this. Otoboke Beaver is on Spotify, but Midori is region-locked so it's been a while since I've listened to her.
If you want to crank the screaming/"vocal strain" up to 11 the whole song, akai kurage might be of interest.
-
Any of ya'll just like to put on a live performance on while you do work? Honestly, I think it can be a refreshing break from that more polished studio sound.
-
On a The Pillows kick. I think I've listened to "Little Busters" through "Happy Bivouac" 3 times just today already.

@YuyoDrift - No, I haven't yet. I kinda fell out of them around My Foot. What tracks would you recommend?
What'd you think about the reboot? I heard mixed reviews and haven't watched it yet.
-
The next 2 albums were along the same lines as My Foot but from Ooparts onward there was the feeling they ran out of that “oomph”. Their recent album (not Fool on Cool Generation) has some gems so it sounds like they have some more material (but it could have been for promoting the FLCL Sequels).
The reboot(s) were actually a sequel series (progressive) and an alternative timeline (alternative) of the show (although fans theorize that they are within the same universe, idk).
Imo, alternative was more the type of FLCL sequel than progressive, vibe-wise, but still, the 2 series just don’t hold a candle to the original.
Let me know what you think.
-
Ok, I might have to check that out then. I mean, they've been around since, like what, 1990? After 30 years of being active, it might be tough to keep things fresh 😅
Ah, I kinda figured. Not many sequels do. It's interesting they decided to split it up into different timelines. I didn't know that was a part of the reboot. Maybe I'll give it a shot soon!

Anyone take a listen to the new Boris album? It's not half bad.

@The Reverend - Yeah, certainly not their best work but I thought it was a fairly solid effort. Definitely a few fun tracks in there that channel some "Akuma no Uta" energy.

What's on you mind?

Korean music used to be about the music:
-
@Bear - Sure, sure. But, like Yuyo said, I just think there's a starker contrast between eras in Korean music history. There's at least a wide range of artists in Japanese music even today, but in the Korean music industry you don't see any psychedelic rock or metal bands or experimental musicians in the mainstream. And anything in the "indie" scene is still saturated with pop and hip-hop focused musicians, which is fine, but there's no room for diversity.
