yep. Alice9 and Kaya had done successful crowdfunding for their releases in the past, there's an ongoing campaign to bring Sui to Europe for a concert (I'm not following her so idk if they reached the milestone.) if paid fanclubs fall under your idea of subscriptions, those are out there for p much every prominent vk act.

There's something about the cover of Vulgar that just so perfectly represents what the album is like. It's a very simple cover that still manages to give off such a sinister and evil feeling. Less really is more in this case. My favorite part is the fleshy, purple parts at the top. It's disturbing because you don't quite know what you're looking at - is it gloves? the arms of some twisted creature? both? - to where it adds to the feeling of unease. Setting it against the pure black of the background gives it an even more intense feeling of dread and I absolutely love it.

Me again, this time featuring a hat. Images may be somewhat mahoosive as they're the first ones I've uploaded here that were taken with my fancy-ass camera, so I put them in a cut.

The fact that this is being discussed at all means that there is an issue here, at least for some of us. I haven't minded any of the past mixes (until Tue Madsen's muddy DSS, particularly the singles). Original Uroboros sounds great. Kisou is excellent. Heck, even Marrow isn't bad. They all have a garage-feel that works for their respective albums. To my ears, TIW does not work; it's fatiguing. I for one will be glad to see the backs of this era's team. Looking forward to whatever's coming next. Hopefully they won't use these guys again like they did with Tue Madsen (who was okay for the most part, just overused and got old). I received my copy of The World of Mercy a few days ago. Listened to it twice. It suffers from the exact same problems that TIW does. The song itself is okay, although I'm still trying to digest it. It does feel quite bloated. Dozing Green acoustic is nice but it ends too quickly. I wish they kept the end of the song intact. Grief is Grief.

Yep, Poland, Warsaw even, and Metal Cave is about 10 min from my home! I can't believe the regrettable state of my fan vigilance >.< Anyway, that's fantastic news and also yes, please ^^

I think he was more so just posting about his annoyance of them not shipping overseas. Go to their live! Definitely. Best experience I ever had. Their fans are incredibly nice, some tried to speak with me and find out how I discovered vk and what other bands I liked and where I was from. Kaina himself was very grateful and gave me some gifts of two demotapes and a cheki. He also came out to meet me and shake my hand. He is very very kind and accepting of overseas fans. Please go.

Yeah of course the Tomurai debacle was very hard to swallow but to be honest I wouldn't be concerned yet. The "Vanitas" music video was posted on the 2nd of June, and Chedoara itself was out on the 8th of August, more than 2 months after it. We woulnd't see a "digest video" of the Chedoara songs until August 13, 5 days after the release of the album. I understand people have legitimate reasons to be feeling concerned but I don't think it's time to be freaking out yet. Have stuff to be continuously postponed without little explanation like Tomurai, then I'm going to be actually concerned. BTW, has any j-rock/vk band ever tried any crowdfunding campaign or subscription system or something like that? Maybe it could help them. I kinda doubt it considering the japanese music industry is so assbackwards lol

I'm a sucker for simplistic designs, so pretty much every KEEL album cover is perfect in my opinion. Plus I love consistent designs throughout a band's oeuvre and with a couple exceptions, they've kept the + pattern consistent.

Incredibly boring. It is typical Fixer instrumentals from their Starwave Records era (and boi, was it bad). Basically, Fixer just changed the vocals and continued doing the same thing they did for the last two years. Except that Sui can't scream or growl.

    The general Metal discussion thread

How anyone can find something like this boring live is beyond me. Darkside alone is reason good enough to stay for the entire gig, and as long as the drums are clear in the mix everything else can be pretty muddy without it taking away all the enjoyment of the gig. The cymbal work is just beyond everything and anything.

Was actually gonna mention Moran. Their album covers are gorgeous I also like the limited edition version of the GazettE's Beautiful Deformity. If I think of any more, I'll mention them.
