  1. I have always had a feeling that stuff like overdoses are more often reported in terms of the physical issue caused by the overdose.
Not to say I think every brain aneurysm or hemorrhage is a case of kakuseizai or anything, but any combination of smoking/heavy drinking/upper use puts you at a bigger risk than other people in the same age bracket. Plus like Zeus said, throw stress into the mix and it's all the more dangerous.

There is a pretty big example where a member of a very popular band passed away and the family asked for the reason not to be disclosed. The director of his label casually let slip the cause of his death was suicide in an interview online. Fans were very, very troubled to find this out, and a lot of them said they wished they had never seen it. There's definitely a tendency to not disclose suicide but since no one else has mentioned it yet I think it's in part to prevent fans from doing the same (hide copycats being an illustrative example of this happening). It's a real danger in the best of situations, but the themes and image of visual kei attract self-harmers and people who aren't always in a great mental state on top of that.

  2. back up in this gig

Avanchick's former shikiri (who got banned from their shows) exposed them a while ago. the RTs on this are nuts lol

    Cliffnotes edition:
-Shikiri posts on her LINE timeline asking what's the deal with the center jouren selling tickets to other fans for super high prices
-The band, center jouren and kamite jouren call her to a back alley after their show on 10/23 in Fukuoka and intimidate her into giving her cellphone up to them. they drew up a contract saying that she agreed to hand over the phone and she feels forced to signed it.
-They tell her if she's not going to help the center jouren sell tickets then they don't need her, call her fat, tell her to die, and demand 10 million yen for her causing them trouble until finally the kamite guitarist says let's take a break and they leave her there, taking her phone

-She goes to the police who get them to promise they'll return the phone within one week, but they don't. Police are told that the band is showing the conversation to a lawyer and they'll return it after doing so.

-After this she gets banned from their shows based on an fabricated story, which she believes is their way of punishing her for running to the popo

-This has caused her great emotional distress and she plans to speak with a lawyer.

edit: OH and Kiryu's shady ass retweeted this too, commenting "Guess there's still bands who this kind of dumb shit. Not that I know which band this is"

  3. Yukiya was their most popular member afaik (at least it was that way in Nagoya?)
the way he left is so fucked

    full translation:

    Spoiler

We have a very unfortunate notice for all cult members.

In regards to guitarist Yukiya Takei, who was on a break from the cult after complaining of poor health due to influenza,

the members went to check in on him at his home after returning from Tokyo, where they found the door unlocked and the apartment empty, with only a note left behind that read "I'm done with the band."

The members, label and many other others cooperated to contact him, but communications were entirely blocked and we are unable to reach him.

Since Yukiya himself firmly states he wishes to no longer play in the band, the occurrence of other problems, and the fact that no one including the members can reach him, after talks between the label and band

while truly regrettable as of this date we will consider guitarist Yukiya Takei as having withdrawn from the band.

Due to this event the members are very shocked, and are currently in discussions with the label regarding the continuation of UNDER FALL JUSTICE. We will report following these discussions.

The cult meetings already decided and those not yet announced will still be carried out.

All cult members who support UNDER FALL JUSTICE,

and all of those who care about Yukiya Takei.

It is truly inexcusable that things have turned out this way.

    Please support the remaining members.
Lend us the strength of all our cult members.

    Starwave Records

  4. It's really weird that these guys all have identical makeup except the shadow color for one of them was changed and the pink boy got the bonus Minpha cheek/brow treatment?? I think it would have helped their super stark-white visual if their makeup girl could do more than one beat with slight variations...

  5. Wataru's original charge was assault and the fact that he settled out of court seemed to help him, they didn't really see a decline that was caused by his case imo. (hilariously for me 12012 was the band I stanned before lynch. so this whole arrest thing is getting old now...) as for how much an anti-social/societal act impacts things, it really depends on the nature of the act -- if we presume Sankei Sports' source is legit and then further presume it was just possession it's kinda hard to say,  while celebs in Japan are getting nailed for kakuseizai/meth all the time and many of them do resume activities, we have only a small sample size in VK: Daishi (unknown sentence for kakuseizai), Imai Hisashi (6 month sentence for LSD), sakura (2 year sentence for kakuseizai)...  I can't think of anymore. + their cases are pretty varied, clearly.

anyway tanuki has devolved into"he stole a fishing boat (because he loves fishing) (LEL GOTTEM BOIS)" and "he LYNCHED SOMEBODY GET IT??????" and there was a weird Elvis-sighting type of rumor so i doubt anything solid is going to come out of them anytime soon

good bands can play without a member. they will play no matter what.

this break is bullshit, they can get a new bassplayer for support easy.

i don't think you understand how pissed their fans would be for just ignoring it. especially since the canceled shows were mostly their fanclub only shows. i would find it very inappropriate and fucking depressing to run the anniversary show without everyone there....
it was way too short notice to get anyone for COMMUNE, CDJ is a huge mainstream event that wants nothing to do with a band who's been on every dumb 2ch tabloid site in the last 24h under headlines like "tattooed bandman gets arrested! drugs? yakuza? sexual assault? hazuki's ex. gf is [prolific gravure model turned prostitute]!" with a bunch of people posting over and over about how he should have been arrested just for being tattooed in the first place.
also i know this hard to believe but they may actually like Akinori and be more concerned about trying to help him with his problems. weird but true

    seems something serious did happen.

i think they would have to do it just because a member got arrested, and is presumably still detained, regardless of whether he actually goes to trial or not or is found guilty or not

the thing about getting arrested in Japan is they can and will detain you for 23+ days if they want to, and there's almost no bail (even if AK was granted bail it's on average about 1.5 million yen and there's no way they can afford that). they can't very well get a bassist last minute even if they wanted to play without him. and if they did get a bassist, people would judge the shit out of them for showing up in public like it was no big deal -- when they come back it needs to be with a lot of grovelling because Japan. basically they have to wait for him to go to court or be released before they can do anything anyway.

all i cut out were the apologies and their pledge to take a firm stance against "anti-social acts" and work with the police as they confirm the details. they also included the date of his arrest (11/22) and the name of the prefecture that arrested him (Aichi). otherwise you're not missing any key information.

  9. i know that's the popular opinion of lynch. overseas but it's not based on anything except that foreign interest has waned; they've actually played the biggest venues they have so far in their career this last year, so they were gaining momentum. their stagnation/washed up period was '12-'13 lol.  i would agree that it's less comparable because it's not a time where vk is as popular and because bassists are not usually core members, tho

  10. Akinori is the only other member of the band with loads of personality other than Hazuki imo and has contributed more to the songwriting than Reo and Asanao (granted that's like 2 collaboration songs with Hazuki in a sea of Hazuki songs but still) so i would personally prefer it if he was able to not be fired

tfw you had paid a shopping service to go to Hazuki's solo show and get his photobook and now you have to awkwardly explain why you want a refund

  11. ? Hazuki will still write all the songs and they'll still all sound the same to people tbh, idk what Akinori did but the crime he didn't commit was  fucking with lynch.'s sound lol

they have to cancel not because they can't physically play without him but because they have to sort out his situation and look apologetic about what happened
