  1. ^ it's actually ridiculously overpriced, but apparently it costs them 5000 yen per unit to make?? is it printed on gold leaf or what. and sure enough it was limited to 1 per person in the end... but i'm still attempting to get one.

anyway, tour's over so here's the video roundup.

11.08 Sapporo - THE FATAL HOUR HAS COME

    11.08 Sapporo - MIRRORS
    11.09 Sapporo - GREED

    11.12 Sendai - MAD
11.12 Sendai - ALL THIS I'LL GIVE YOU
    11.15 Shibuya - VANISH
    11.15 Shibuya - BEAST

    11.17 Nagoya - Happy 30th Birthday AK

they announced Kings & Queens III, this time with showings in Osaka and Nagoya. K&Q is a series of events where they play their softer songs as a dinner show of sorts. basically, suit daddies

Yumehito joined Ayabie and probably worked to tear the band apart ever since SMH
    Ruvie halted activities

  4. ^ they picked way small venues for Osaka/Tokyo/Nagoya, I don't know what they were thinking considering they scaled up the size for almost everywhere else. i'm sorry you missed it!

Hazuki announced that he's selling an 80 page photobook with a 2 song CD for his solo shows in December.
    http://www.artoy.co.jp/hazuki-souen.html
    tracklist is
    1. keibetsu (an original song for the show)

    2. THIS COMA (souen ver.)
presumably both piano/vocal only since that's the show theme.
there's no net sales which is bullshit, ya girl is hoping it's not suddenly going to be one per person because a friend offered to pick one up for me.

I don't really follow Avanchick or any of these bands, but was that name actually a secret?

If his first name is fair game alright, but since she dropped his last name in another tweet I was erring on the side of caution :x

Noah's being really tacky and just treating this as petty internet gossip. Threatening a lawyer (presumably to take advantage of Japan's crazy libel laws where you can sue someone even if what they say is true) is also pretty shitty if you're gonna pay for it with Betty's cheki money.

  6. @emmny
u got it. this girl needs to buy some fucking punctuation tho

Aya △taso: Everyone thank you you all worked hard for me and reported on the recent situation so I was able to remain mentally stable I wouldn't be able to smile so much without you guys
I bought a ridiculous amount of center spot tickets from Noa at high prices and while the cheki money and the money on tickets he gave to people for free to get more followers and everything else won't come back this [presumably Noa being exposed] makes it all better

    Quote

Aya △taso: After making shit up about me intentionally filling spots with my friends and me being high on drugs he banned me from shows and I put up with it for these six months and I'm at last rewarded

I thought you were pretty nuts for pretending to be Yuuga and sending DMs, and for calling me to Kabukicho in the name of your label but will you be able to pay back your senpai's money you used up~? [Real first name]-kun how are you going to take responsibility~

Addendum, there has been drama about Avanchick selling high numbers/giving tickets away and banning people (including Ayataso, the girl above) from shows on tanuki because of inter-fan drama nonstop so a bunch of former Avanchick gya are going buckwild on this girl's twitter if you look at her retweets. Since the line gets a little blurry between news/gya talk here I'll keep it short but they're quite eager to see their American performance canceled, Ayataso practically doxxed Noa (I left out his real first name bc I think it's a little dicey to include but his whole name is out there because of this), his Yuuga impersonation was apparently done from another account and he did it to multiple people.

@Uglymouthno problem, this is a doozy so i'll probably only touch any super juicy bits anyway lol

We were told in DM "If you guys want fans, then fucking get to work"

I kept repeating for myself that time has changed, and in the vk scene today you have to work much more for yourself as well.

i'm double posting like a dick, thanks for the great translation @Uglymouth, but this part is slightly mistaken and it's an interesting look "behind the curtain" for VK i hope you don't mind if i offer an alternative and elaborate:
"I was told to fucking do some eigyou to get some more fans, so we sent DMs and even did romantic eigyou.
Well, I did it all while telling myself maybe that kind of eigyou is needed these days..."

eigyou literally means "work/business" but in the host world (and in the vk world bc same thing) it means the way you build relationships with your customers to keep them coming back and spending regardless of your actual feelings toward them. there's friend eigyou, girlfriend eigyou/romantic eigyou. those in-store pictures where bandmen are posed lovingly embracing their fans and nearly kissing them are known as "excessive eigyou".

  8. i just saw this thread in the recent activity box so let me drop a few of my favorite links

    http://ejje.weblio.jp/sentence/

weblio's example translation corpus is highly underrated and i use it all the time for professional translation work because it has examples from daily conversation, business emails, novels, history books, contracts and law, etc etc. you can input English or Japanese, so if you need to know how something is expressed in Japanese or don't understand the meaning of a Japanese construction, try pasting it here and see how it's been translated by others. i started using this when i did shitty 12012 blog translations and i never looked back

    http://jn2et.com/JLPT.html

if you're studying at an intermediate+ level you might find that Japanese explanations of grammar constructions are much more useful for understanding the minutiae between similar constructions, i used this one a fair bit in conjunction with jgram.org & japanesetest4you.com.

a good ass portal site for Japanese learner resources

to close and as a semi-introduction, hi, i do freelance jp>en translation and i just completed a "high level" japanese course at Nagoya University.
i'm definitely not a master and still have plenty to learn myself but if there's questions feel free to post them there and i'll see if any texts i have can provide a satisfying answer -- i'm sure other learners will happily pool their resources too.

i'm pretty good at バンギャ用語 too if you're trying to read naughty messages about bandmen in forbidden message boards, so if you have questions about that i'm happy to help here or via PM lol

  10. the issue is moreso that overseas/digital success doesn't really equate to financial gain or success with the "core" fan, the fans who attend shows.

it makes sense after all: if you're attending lives, you buy the tickets (maybe more than one), depending on things you might be negotiating and working with the fans from other bands for spots/ticket purchases/etc, you buy the merch and plaster it everywhere, you develop the band's "culture" like the furi (whether making it or participating in it), you buy the CDs etc. etc. etc. etc. and you use SNS to talk about all of these things.

because of this the live-attending fans can be dismissive of net gya/ongen gya (girls who buy CDs but don't come to shows) as ~not real fans~ which is obviously dumb as hell but the fans that go to lives tend to be the $$$ and can very much get all Regina George about it. having a lot of net/ongen/foreign fans isn't bad at all but if you can't match them with bodies at shows, it won't necessarily endear you to event organizers etc. in the same way... and people will shitpost about you.

  11. killaneth was mocked frequently for having low audience turnout and a lot of net/foreign fans (i.e. not people who go to shows) so i think emmny is on track about one of the issues. and yeah someone in the band must really be sick of this shit if they're willing to cancel shows that far lol

RIP killaneth i was mildly interested in u

Visual Kei bar? There's tons of bar but i never heard about Visual Kei bar, are you sure you don't mix with host club? Totally a different thing with different person not even looking 10% as good as Jrockers.

no, it's not a host club.

idk about the ones outside of Nagoya but Hina from lucifer's underground works Razzle Dazzle and Yuuri from lucifer's underground works at some other one.
aie from the god and death stars advertises his bartending activities on twitter too. just for some examples.

  13. My condolences to the friends, family and fans of Mikuru, first off. He was way too young for this.

Sorry to push the topic a little further astray but hoo boy I'm #triggered because this is just nonsense

I don't know why some people want to believe band members are all having sex with all their fans like Tanuki want to make the world to believe. They are musician, not prostitute. Maybe because one or 2 have done in the past, the rumor tend to say all band members are like this, but it's not. And trust me, it's very difficult to even only meet a band member (was unsuccessful to do it while in Japan, either was ignored or refusing, so i know what i'm talking about).

I don't think you do know what you're talking about. It's not difficult to meet a bandman -- go to a visual kei bar. Talk to the guy behind the counter. Congrats, you've done it.

Secondly, there's the main board for tanuki where jouren mostly just shriek at each other about nonsense, but the 旧 board is basically entirely a hookup site for gya and bandmen. I personally know people who have used it and met bandmen successfully. The countless kakao/line conversations and tanuki PMs leaked prove that it's not "one or two". This is a pretty normal part of vk, and to go even further, a pretty normal part of the rock band lifestyle... who are they dating/fucking if not their fans anyway? All of the normie Japanese girls who totally love greasy dudes in pink hair with tattoos and piercings who can barely afford daily necessities?
