These guys always seemed pretty openly influenced by MUCC's older nu-metal-influenced sound, so I think they deseve to be mentioned here. There's 100% better examples for these dudes out there on the YT-sphere as well, they were basically to old MUCC what Grieva was to old Dir en grey at some point, so similarities are inevitable. heidi. sometimes went full nu-metal as well. As far as I know, it didn't happen too often tho. :^) And since I posted the previous one, I feel like this band also brought the nu-metal riffage from time to time. Just fucking come and DARE tell me that that bass doesnt have the nu-metal sound my dudes. Honorable mention also goes out to the angura band Uma, I remember them having a rap rock/nu-metal type sound as well, can't find any samples on YT though, sadly.

pretty fucked up to imagine that in a few years people might end up making threads like these about the xxxcore-influenced sound plaguing the scene tese days however, this thread fucking rips, probably one of my favorite VK styles overall. My contribution: Always felt like Zilch's nu-metal/industrial rock-ish hybrid was neat as hell and it saddens me that hide had to die before he had any chance to explore this project any further cuz it was pretty damn good What the fuck. This track, along with Ghost (both off the same album, coincidentially) always felt to me like they mixed more than just a lil' bit of nu-metal in w/ their more grungey / alt rock influences.

btw, since this album's gonna be a collection of his solo works from 1996 to 2013, i wonder how easy it'll be to identify specific songs as fitting in specific ''eras''...

From the talk I heard, it was only ONE server that was taken down, or rather just threatened to be taken down? im not sure, so the admins nuked the site instead. The actual site itself still (supposedly) exists somewhere in backup form, so it's always possible it'll come back some day..

^ I was gonna post that one, damn I'm pretty sure everyone's favorite goth boys emmurée had a christmas song, but sadly I can't remember the title from the top of my head Also, I guess it's arguably not entirely christmas-y, but Guniw Tools' Fat December is still a fuckin jam.

wtf 2016 does finally suck now (I mean i never used what.cd cuz im too lazy 4 the interview and i dont care too much about flac files to begin with, but the place was legendary. i imagine lots of rarez will be lost to the void for fucking ever) Guess we'll see how long it takes until slsk bites the dust, then we can all move back to kazaa edit: hey wait a fucking second...

  21. I feel the whole "true angura" thing (I mean acts like Strawberry Song Orchestra, Guruguru Eigakan, Inugami Circus Dan, Dagashi Kashi, Ningen Isu)'s mostly about bands drawing their influence from retro aesthetics from the period between like... the '30s - '80s or something, possibly some degree of nationalism, and also works of authors/artists such as Edogawa Ranpo, Shuji Terayama ( + other stuff connected to that whole Tenjo Sajiki gang), Suehiro Maruo etc. + I guess in some cases acts connected to the whole 80s new wave scene, especially the Nagomu Records label, also had some influence... Groups like Zin-Say, Karate Bakabon or Uchoten for example seem to have had some impact on the bleep-bloop side of things and I guess they could arguably count as some sort of pre-VK predecessor to the angura scene in a sense.. I see some influences from those groups in acts such as Muchi Muchi Anago, Shinjuku Gewalt, Metronome etc.... And of course a part of it is also just kind of arbitrarily determined by means of the bands certain bands mostly play with, I guess. Probably something like that whole funky white raccoon face aesthetic's a better indicator of "trve" angura-ness than kimonos, although I guess angura bands do like their uniforms from time to time.. Still, I'd definitely not consider acts like R-Shitei, Memento Mori, Orochi, Kagrra, or Kiryu to belong to the sublabel. R-Shitei's mostly just flirting with the retro aesthetics from time to time but doesn't really reflect any of it in their music or lyrics from what I've seen and heard.. The whole "darker and more formal" thing's sort of been memed into existence by people who somehow consider acts like Deathgaze to be angura or eroguro, and it's not really accurate, because some prominent and essential angura acts like Guruguru Eigakan or their offshoot Taiheiyou Belt, and even acts like Shinjuku Gewalt aren't actually all that dark or formal when it comes to the music. If anything, ''nostalgic'' would be a much better descriptor for the genre as a whole.. Im 1000% sure i could probably write a longer and better post about this but i'm sort of half drunk rn lmao sorry, i hope you caught my drift though.... maybe sb else will swoop in as well and add to this
  22. fuggggggg :-DDDDDDD cant believe its 2k16 and people still believe that ''kimonos = angura kei'' meme........................
