i feel the exact opposite, after relistening to p much merry's entire discog in the past weeks i've come to feel like nonsense market may in fact be my least fav of theirs overall. it used to be m.e.r.r.y., but nowadays i've been warming up to it pretty hard. nonsense market has the highest amount of tracks i'd rather just skip than sit through as of now lol

NO SMART was my favourite when it came out, and I still really enjoy it, but the thing is, whenever I listen to any of the tracks (minus a few), I usually skip them. I feel the tracks on the album only work together in sequence, like, I can only really enjoy all of the songs together as a unit. Except for 梟, I love that song with all my heart!

M.E.R.R.Y. and under-word share the spot for my current fave, and my least faves are Beautiful Freaks (all the singles were the high points) and M-OLOGIE (mainly because I hate Black flag symptom).

Did they ever release a b-side compilation, by the way? I don't even have any of their older singles anymore for some reason and I'm too lazy to go around looking for them. ):

They have enough material for two b-side compilations, they could totally do a 白い羊/黒い羊 thing like they did with their best-of album. I actually made two MERRY b-side mixtapes like that, where one has all the softer songs, and the other has the more heavy ones. The only song that didn't make either is that b-side on Happy life, 'cause I really can't stand that song.

  2. Name: James (God, 神様, etc.)

    Age: 24

Years studied: Never really committed to "studying" but I started trying to read the language about 9 years ago

    Estimated level: Pre-Beginner

Knowledge of Hiragana/Katakana: Can read all kana, but for some reason my brain can process hiragana much quicker.

Kanji: Maybe 50? But I can only remember to handwrite a few (if any).

What is your main goal with studying Japanese? Reading, Conversational, Vocabulary, and Grammar. I went to Japan back in May and felt very bad that I couldn't hold a conversation in Japanese with *anyone* and I also didn't like having to rely on the English menus at restaurants (haha).

What materials have you used before? I'll try to translate song/album titles whenever possible. I use WWWJDIC, imiwa?, and shirabe-jisho for vocabulary, and as for grammar, I'd just use Google (both translate and search, though the former is not very reliable). Also, I need to just go on a tangent about how fucking stupid it is that people on the internet will translate song lyrics and go into deep analysis about it but they won't even bother trying to translate the actual title! WHY?!

  3. They claim that the album versions of 閉ざされた楽園 and 冬のカスタネット are different from the single versions, but I don't notice any difference; so no re-recordings on under-world. What they should have done with 冬 though is use the instrumental version; it sounds great and would have been PERFECT after the long and epic 激声.

Beautiful Freaks has a re-recording of Identity, but I think The Cry Against ME was just remix with re-recorded vocals/drums; the other songs were unchanged.

As for NO SMART, 群青 had re-recorded drum and vocal tracks (but I think the guitar tracks were only remixed); ZERO and 梟 were unchanged.

I am glad that they re-recorded Happy life, since it's two years old now. I do find it strange that they changed 傘と雨, the most recent single, but left 平日の女, a song released an entire year before, completely untouched. And when I listened to the album, I could have sworn that 傘と雨 just had a new vocal track and everything else was just remixed... huh.

THE NOVEMBERS did a nice job with Andrometamorphosis, The MUCC one sounds pretty good, a crowd of rebellion ruined 梟, the Silent Noise cover might be worth buying, everything else is kinda bleh

Sei's hasty verdict: if you want the re-recording of ZERO, wait on buying until it hits the ¥100 shelves at Closet Child. Otherwise, pick and choose on iTunes/etc.

Also... FIRE UP YOUR PROXIES, BITCHES:

  5. 18-year-old self: requires full discographies of every single band I listened to, 100% everything, even if it sucked, even if I didn't stan them.

24-year-old self: has no post-2007 アヤビエ, deletes DIAURA's 月光 single, doesn't have a single post-2004 蜉蝣 single, deleting crappy bonus tracks from various releases.

As you evolve, your music library evolves with you. The terabytes of downloaded music you haven't added to your library, on the other hand, do not.

I hope this album will help me grow to like these songs.

I have mixed feelings about this. I absolutely loved FOCUS, but I thought Triangle was a flop... although, MY RESISTANCE (TYPE A) was fantastic. Hopefully they aren't on a FLOP/BOP/FLOP/BOP pattern here.

are they any better than buyee? I had a shit experience with those last time, but I c that fromjapan tends to enforce fedex on certain order contents, I'm nhft that courier service.

I never tried buyee. Their service is decent, they just charge dumb fees once you get ready to ship everything. When you're ordering the items themselves, you're only paying for the items, there's no Charge 1 commissions, so it's easy to spend a lot. Avoid buying from a vast number of shops, and avoid Yahoo! Auctions.

NO! IT'S GUNNA BE THE MOST METAHL THING EVAR!!!!1one

In all seriousness, for all I know, they could either continue with the sound they established with PROJECT DARK AGE, do something different, or revert back to DIVISION DEFORMITY. Whatever it is, odds are I'll stan it, 'cause that's what I do! Pretty much the only thing I'm hoping for is that it doesn't have the same production as TRACES VOL. 2.
