  1. My mom loves classic rock, 80s pop music, and metal. She actually used to go to a lot of concerts when she was young and I'm quite jealous of the bands and artists she's seen (Jethro Tull, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, Heart, Elvis, Michael Jackson, etc.)

She's also gotten into some of the older vk bands I like (mostly BUCK-TICK)

My dad likes music from the 50s to the 80s. He's not a huge music person like my mom is so I can't really name artists he likes other than Madonna and Cyndi Lauper.

  2. I used to go see both bands pretty often around the time this thread was first made 4 years ago. I started to lose interest in both bands at around the same time (Decadence for Mejibray, Focus for Diaura)  but I saw both of them at the last BDM last year and I still enjoyed Diaura. They put on a really great show and they played a lot of my favorite old songs.

Mejibray, however, I thought was a mess. I never really thought their music was brilliant but I used to enjoy their lives so I was a bit disappointed. There has always been a disconnect between the members but it was pretty evident that they grew even further apart at that point. In addition, they didn't even look like they were enjoying themselves on stage and, not that Tsuzuku is a great vocalist or anything, but he sounded awful. Lay off the cigs dude.

Idk if I voted on this previously since I can't vote in the poll now but my vote goes for Diaura. Even though I lost interest forever ago I still enjoy their old songs and they're still great live. I wouldn't say they're going strong though. They've been on the top of a plateau for a while.

  3. Not really surprised to be honest.
I'm not a fan but I've seen them at a few taibans over the past year or so  and I never saw more than 7 or 8 people participating for them. They're not my thing but they're not a bad band so I always kinda felt sorry for them.

Hey, does anyone have the setlist they played yesterday at their show at 下北沢(Shimokita)SHELTER?

I wasn't there but my friend says they rearranged their old songs

  5. I don't know about SID but Gazette were not even remotely close to selling out their show at Tokyo Dome which is why they never played there again.
Depending on how its set up, Tokyo Dome can hold 42,000 – 55,000 people. Compare that to venues like Yokohama Arena (17,000), Saitama Super Arena (36,500) and Budokan (14,471) and those numbers are when they are at their set up for max capacity. Most shows played at any of these venues don't use the entire hall.

Tokyo Dome is ENORMOUS. Playing there would be a huge risk even for popular 90s vk bands in their heyday.

  6. I wrote about my opinion on this release on one of sume7's statuses a few weeks ago but this is a better place for me to expand on it a little bit.

XAA-XAA is my favorite active visual kei band but I really did not enjoy this release. In fact, very few of the people I know who are fans of XAA-XAA liked this release so coming here and seeing so many users rave about how great it is was quite shocking to me, but of course I'm not shitting on the opinions of those who like 不幸な迷路. I'm just a bit ???? about how our opinions are literally polar opposites.

Anyway, as I mentioned previously, in my opinion some songs on this album had some good parts but fell short such as 排水口, ラストダンス, ユメオチ, and 気付いて.
I really don't like ぐちゃぐちゃ and 恋人ごっこ at all. I don't particularly enjoy 寄り道 and 交尾をしてよ either but I actually thought they were quite fun live at their oneman on Sunday at which they played all the new songs (in the same order as the album). However, despite that they were all in a really good mood and the atmosphere was great, not gonna lie for half the live I was waiting for the encore so they could play their other songs because I was so bored. [The encore was super lit though and their MC about armpit hair was hilarious so I can't say I was disappointed with the live but I digress]

I really like Kazuki's voice, not because he has a great vocal range (he does not) but because he's very good at conveying his emotions when he sings. Even songs I don't particularly enjoy from XAA-XAA (such as 桜の街) I still listen to when they come on shuffle since I like listening to his voice, but I can't get myself to listen to this album anymore because his voice sounds so flat and stale on top of compositions that I personally find lacking.

Zeus mentioned how in many of the songs on 中毒症状 have a lot of repetition in the lyrics but that's actually one quality that I find charming about Kazuki's lyrics and I think he usually does quite well, minus 死にたい, and from this album 落とし穴 and 寄り道.

In contrast with Zeus' opinion, this is hands down my least favorite release from them along with したいだけでしょ?.

  7. I love these guys. I think I've seen them 7 times since their first official live in December. I also used to go see hakujitsu and kurohime a lot last year and I also saw Shounenki a few times in 2014 and again at their last live.
If anyone is interested I can post live reports and dumb stories about them.

By the way, in addition to 調教してください they also have been playing a new song called 私には名前がない. They also introduced another new song (with a hilarious rapping prelude) on the 30th but they didn't mention the name iirc.

Until recently they were also playing hakujitsu and kurohime songs (probably since they didn't have enough songs).

  8. I've only purchased two releases from 2017 so far but I figured I'd get this started since it's already almost April

    Kazuki looks drunk af

Lmfao. On the contrary I was actually really drunk that day. :')

I think Kazuki just doesn't know how to look nice in pictures. In more than half of the pictures I've taken with him he's making a weird af face.

  10. @CloudyTreeSounds like a blast! REX was lit as well. It looks like they played the same exact set list as Osaka except they switched the order of 君、依存、タトゥー, ファッションメンヘラ, and  調教してください but nonetheless I had a blast.  Two days later and I'm still in pain. haha
I basically share the same opinions about their songs. 夜乙女 was ok but not memorable and 笑顔でいるってめんどくさい was fantastic.

I wish they'd play more hakujitsu and kurohime songs though. I've seen them 4 times so far and they've only played いちごパニック, 策略 and ナイン.

@BiopandaThey have a very small following right now. Besides the oneman at Rex, I've never seen more than 20 people at a live that were there for them specifically, so I don't blame them for wanting to do live-limited stuff to get more people [in Japan] to go see them. After all, they make most of their money by doing shows.
I'm sure once they build a stronger following they will start having nationwide releases.

I think I remember hearing that Zukki was playing in some session bands around 2014ish, but I don't have any concrete evidence.

He was doing sessions as recently as September 2015. He hasn't updated his Twitter since so he's been MIA for over a year now

Everyone else disappeared off the face of the planet after OZ's last live in June 2013.

Cool, as usual. But why do they insist on not playing "Faizh"?

They do play Faizh but they don't play it at event lives very often because they have more active songs they prefer to play  (ie ZONE, Lethal Affliction, Raison detre, Twisted Pain, DOJ).

Don't get me wrong, Faizh is great but it's not that fun live compared to a lot of their other songs.

Also re: Ricko's voice live, while he does use a backtrack (Sena also does backing vocals for a few songs) his voice is just as great live as it is on CD imo.

187? thats less. how do you know?

Rui wrote that in the blog post that @Seroxlinked to on the first page.
    「まずは1月12日高田馬場AREAワンマンライブへ187人の皆様が御来場下さいました事に心から御礼申し上げます。」

That's more people than I expected to be honest.  As I mentioned before I'm not a fan but I have seen them at a couple of event lives in the past and I don't think I've ever seen more than 2 or 3 rows of people participating for them.

  14. The new look is so awful. lol But I'm pumped for the album. They played the PV for guchagucha at the tour final last night and I thought it was pretty good, better than the last 3 singles they released, but I can't really recall how exactly it went since I only heard it once. I do remember the song being heavier though.

    Thanks man.

Holy crap Sena writes the lyrics not Ricko? Wow that's kind of unique. Normally I think the vocalist always would.

    Yes. Sena writes everything.

I' m not sure if I'm down for translating right now but I can romanize all that for you later today.
