crucifiction got a reaction from Total Saikou in A question about last fm
Scrobbling isn't recording. Last.fm uses data such as the length of a song, it doesn't analyze the content itself in any way.

Basically anything that contains music - CDs, tapes, DVDs, VHSes etc.
I occasionally buy T-shirts as well but I don't care at all about stuff like cheki, towels, etc.

Some LINGUA IGNOTA records
all hail the almighty throat-slitter of the world
I’m actually kind of disappointed, sound-wise. Both records are VERY noisy, and on CALIGULA, there’s a really bad skip on one of the songs. That aside, I’m still glad to have physical copies of these fantastic albums!

crucifiction got a reaction from Paraph in VK Fan Turnover rates
I've been into VK for more than 15 years now and what I find most common when it comes to people loosing their interest in the scene stems from what has drawn them to it in the first place. From my experience, people that started "listening" to vk bands mainly for the looks and - supposedly - to feel "unique" simply grew out of it, adding up to your regular "it was just a phase" stereotype. On the other hand, the ones that, instead of drooling over bandomen pics, actually did focus on the music itself, listen to visual bands to this day.
The other thing, that has already been mentioned, is that some people fix their taste on one particular type of music/scene, not willing to discover anything outside of this "bubble". This can often lead to getting fed up with it which later results in them trying to find an alternative stimulator... which they are most likely going to be tired of in a few years as well.
As for me, I see no reason why I would ever stop enjoying the music and visuals that I used to in the past. When something is good, it's just... good, it's not going to magically change over the years.

It has come to my attention that I have nothing left to share with this board. While most people leave quietly unless they aim to make their departure a publicity stunt, I feel that saying goodbye to a forum where I've more or less spent every day for the past 10 years is the least I could do.
I've made a lot of good friends here, had fun as a mod for like 15 minutes, and loved being an official reviewer. In spite of all of that, I cannot help but feel it is time I move on.
I do not plan on fully deleting my account so I can still leech, but if you'd like to chat about music you can find me:
-On Twitter
-On the VKGY discord
-Adding scans and lyrics to ZombiexJuice
-Making half-assed unboxing videos of rejected vkei maxi-singles
It's been fun 💋

lyrics: Yukari / music: Yukari

crucifiction reacted to Jigsaw9 in Visual kei popping up in unexpected places
Apparently in 1999 there was a sports game for Playstation released in Japan titled R [アール], also known as Rock'n Riders. It featured characters named and modeled after actual J-rock/VK musicians! According to the game's story in the "distant future of 20XX" a Japanese rock band called R go to Los Angeles for a gig, but for some reason rock music is outlawed so the authorities chase them through the US while the characters race each other on...snowboards?? Yeah.
The members of the band:
- vocals: Ellemo
- guitar: Kyoji Yamamoto (BOWWOW)
- guitar: Kiyoshi (media youth, hide with Spread Beaver, Lucy, machine)
- guitar: Chisato (PENICILLIN)
- bass: YASUMICHA'N (Sleep My Dear)
- drums: O-JIRO (PENICILLIN)
It also looks like these guys actually went ahead and recorded an album under this band name. Anyway, various tracks composed by the members also appear as background music in the game itself (here's a YT link to the full soundtrack). The 2CD limited version of the game also had a photo gallery of the real-life musicians dressed as their game characters it seems.
A bunch of in-game footage can be found in this YT playlist.
An assortment of screenshots and other info here.
