what if they're one of those bands that only manage to pump out like 3 songs total before folding though? : ^ )

Can I just pre-emptively add Baboo's image to this thread before they disband in like a year?

Oh, hell yeah, I'm not trying to say that "generic, derivative flavor of the month" bands haven't been a part of the VK scene since its inception or anything. I mean, hell, that sort of stuff is common in just about every music scene. For example, take some of the late '00s indie acts Pitchfork hyped up to hell and back (like Sleigh Bells, Wavves, Yuck, Surfer Blood etc) that have at this point basically almost entirely vanished from the public eye.. In my personal case it's just that this stuff doesn't connect to what I'm currently looking for sound-wise, both the saccharine pop rock & the brutal core music that seem to dominate among the shit-to-mid tier bands have pretty much never really been my cup of tea, so it's only natural that at some point one starts to gradually float away from the scene in that case tbh. I'm not gonna entirely ditch it tho, VK's played an important part in shaping my musical taste, just can't really be assed to listen to 50 more bands that desperately wanna sound like Dir en grey or Dezert or w/e when I can just listen to the real stuff

Damn, I'm quite jealous. Would love to see her live some day. Also quite happy she's still active. I do really, really wish she'd do some sort of Yapoos reunion or at least release a new solo album though, it's been quite a long time since she last released some new work iirc (outside of collaborations with other artists)

Damn, very nice taste! Lots of good oldies bands there. Feels like it's become kind of rare to find Yapoos fans or ICD fans on the web these days, so any and all new ones are always appreciated lol Hope you enjoy your stay here.

Damn, watching this made me realize just how out of touch I've gotten with the VK scene lately, I only really like Liphlich and The Gallo out of all of the bands in here. Most of this stuff feels incredibly derivative, like at least half the bands sound like they're covering the same song with swapped-out vocalists. Is this really what's popular nowadays? If that's the case, I'm kind of glad I started exploring sounds from other countries lmao.. There's still a handful of active bands/musicians whose projects I follow, and there's a pretty large number of inactive groups whose music I still really enjoy. Unfortunately, the types of sounds I'm looking for these days are just simply not well-represented in the VK scene. I'm not sure if this is a case of """"muh maturity""" or not, but I feel like this is something that may eventually happen to anyone who chooses to keep exploring different avenues instead of remaining down w/ their musical oneitis Also, if I had €5 for every time someone opened a thread like this, I'd have enough money to singlehandedly revive the VK scene by now : ^ )

What the fuck, i actually dig most of these samples so far This is sounding a lot tighter than some of their other recent output.. definitely gonna check this one out I'm especially digging EMP, it really DOES sound like a throwback to Kuchiki no Tou-era MUCC or something. The single tracks definitely look like they'll be the weakest ones on here as of now..

what the hell is this meme dog & why does everyone know it?
  13. Tokage

damn how have i been overlooking this band all this time? this sounds fuckin neat also @CC's new song: those are some goofy-ass vocal lines here & there, but still overall it all sounds solid as hell. i'm stoked.

the christians are at it again
  15. Tokage

Gonna have to look into that one. For some reason (prob the frog costume) im reminded of from looking at that gif. This movie's worth watching just for the wtf-factor alone, it's a thriller/comedy about a murderous businessman koala. (same creator as those 'squid wrestler' & 'crab goalkeeper' flicks btw iirc)

just basing it on the fact that to my knowledge prior jrock concerts in estonia havent been very well-visited. i guess thats partially cuz only "literally who"-level artists like Orochi and such bother showing up here at all, since Helsinki's like.... a €15 boat ride away. altho i guess Tallinn has the plus of having a high concentration of russians lol so maybe it'll work out in sana's favor (well, it's a plus in this case, not in all others jej) so far it's just 7 ppl attending on fb tho, out of which 1 is sana himself and like at least 2 other people are organization/location staff as far as i can tell
  17. Tokage

im pretttttty sure orochi at some point also did? they at least came to tallinn at some point one time
  18. Tokage

Everything I've heard by them seemed to be pretty entertaining so far. Feels like they're one of those borderline angura-type bands, which I guess isn't too weird considering the band consists of.. ex-Hitotsume and ex-Elektel Shiki members if i'm right? On that note, if anyone told me like a few years ago that Elektel Shiki's members would ever produce something thats actually somewhat listenable I would've never believed them....

Ava's Possessions: Really pleasantly surprised by this one. More on the mystery side of things than pure horror, but considering it deals w/ demonic possession I guess it still fits here as well. Set in a world where demonic possession's apparently become so common that they now have a Spiritual Possessions Anonymous to help victims cope. Story focuses on the titular Ava, who's trying to pick up the pieces of her life after she was possessed by a demon. Now, as part of her therapy, she has to piece the stuff that's happened to her while she was being possessed back together. The movie's visually very stylish, lots of glowing neon-type stuff, and I'm a total sucker for it. The soundtrack's also pretty good, with this track in particular being a surprisingly catchy standout for me: Considering how I generally tend to dislike demonic possession movies for the most part, this felt like a genuine breath of fresh air. Some questionable CGI here and there, but after yesterday's CGI fuck up-fest I feel like I'm suddenly immune now. 7/10, not perfect, but definitely a hidden gem worth a watch

wtf none of these people are wearing kawaii dresses even though its 2017??? 0/10 list : S : S : S ... In all seriousness, as usual, I'm gonna have to scope some of this stuff 'cuz it sounds interesting. Already discovered Koh Nakashima through the 25 Days of MHmas and enjoyed it, so I feel like there must be some more gems up in here
