123Sandman321 got a reaction from kuyashii in Deviloof
I listened to the album multiple times, and while the main singles are enjoyable on their own, the rest of the album drags them down to the deepest depths of hell. God, is it such a boring slog to get through, especially the 2nd half. This is easily their worst record to date.

Losing Seiya and Hiroto really didn't leave good results. All the verses sound the exact same in each of the new songs, stale riffs and "tired" drumming. Sure it's fast and heavy, but without a hint of creativity, plus the only difference between each breakdown is the BPM. The new guys had a wonderful chance to show off and do something new and fresh, but no, let's recycle the old shit, but with musicians who can't keep up and lack the same compositional prowess.

Vocal-wise, Keisuke is objectively a beast (important to note that I mean harsh vocals only), but this time, he rarely uses anything but his highs and as time goes on, again, boredom hits. And oh boy, who the fuck greenlit Ruten, which sane person would listen to that shit and put it on the album, as the closing song, to boot. I understand trying something new and interesting (a bit too interesting for the wrong reasons), and sure, I respect it, but damn, is it just awful. I kinda enjoyed his shots at "clean" singing on ESCAPE and prior, but from now on, he should just stop, effective immediately. (and that supposed duet on Dusky-vision, seeing him sing ain't the same as hearing him, and hear him I cannot, it's just Ray.) Ray, who's probably the only saving grace of the album, well, at least in terms of his vocal parts.

It's obvious they put some bank into this, the PVs, the production, and even the cover, but if they release another LP like this one, it's the end of the line. I sincerely hope their EU tour goes well for them, I'll be attending for sure, since I still consider them among my favorites, but because of that, the album is all the more disappointing.

Kaika, Kodokushi and Aishitekudasai are the highlights, but it's sad when your old material still holds up, compared to the supposed fresh stuff.

DIMLIM's music is written for 2 guitars so they definitely need to find a replacement for Ryuya or find a support guitarist for their lives.

If DIMLIM was going to disband they most likely would've announced it with this announcement.
As long as Sho and Retsu are good friends I doubt the band will break up.

The news got me down hard.

I don't know...seems like everyone will be stuck playing the 2nd fiddle to Retsu, which really isn't an issue, creatively, but essentially bands are a business, too, and that's the side of the coin that Retsu neglects quite a bit and unless he eases off the reins, I don't think they will be able to grow. Releases and live shows few and far between...pretty much radio silence for the most part.

And, yeah, Satoshi would be the perfect guy to take helm and try to actually take the band somewhere.

Apparently the same people who are quick to shame a man who has just died are the same people who are quick to judge someone they have never met over a single comment on the internet.

In no way do I condone pedophilia or any form of harrassment. I think it's a hateful crime and show of disrespect another human being. In fact, my own (ex-)girlfriend was molested in Japan and despite going to the police about it it was just one person's word against another so nothing came of it. That was one of the most trying times in my life so far, feeling so powerless to do anything about the situation.

The nature of my comment was just to say, let's respect that regardless of who a person was there must be numerous people, be it family, friends or coworkers, who are saddened by that news. As far as I'm concerned, it's a shame when anyone dies because that loss ripples through so many others' lives.

And I also think it's possible to respect someone's professional success while divorcing that respect from your disgust towards anything that happened in their private lives. If a popular actor is embroiled in a rape or adultery scandal, that doesn't make them any less of a great actor, it just makes them a shitty human being.

Today, my son asked "Can I have a book mark?" and I burst into tears. 11 years old and he still doesn't know my name is Brian.

The other day my son said "I don't know anything about cloning." and I said "that makes two of us."

There's plenty more, but I'm curious to see what everyone else comes up with or their favorites.

? where do you see/hear the dimlim similarities ?
Not gonna try to defend them but buk buk/awa sessions (sessions much more pop-orientated) played this kind of songs a lot, even before dimlim was formed, meaning they would copy Awa, which i doubt is the case..
If calling them copying anyone, after the 30 sec ningen sample i would've said they sound like Develop One's Faculties. However current song is different.

123Sandman321 reacted to colorful人生 in Let's talk about religion.
Baptized in PH, raised Roman Catholic by my mother (father's Atheist), best friend was Christian who constantly invited me to his clubs/camps...

Too bad I became obsessed with Discovery and The Science Channel w/ childhood idols like Michio Kaku and Stephen Hawking b/c space is (and looks) fucking cool to an 8-year old. Began to understand that the frameworks of our religions could only be realized within history that would only be a sliver of paint on top of the Empire State Building if the building represented earth's (it puts things into perspective.) You can extend that even further to the history of the universe. Learning about general relativity helped me grasp the point of theories like the Big Bang. With that gained perspective, it would be impossible for me to be religious again. It's like when you learn the tooth fairy isn't real or that Santa isn't real. We are so infinitesimally small in the greater universe, if there were some greater power (or structure) it couldn't come close to anything we could imagine or exist with any morality reflective of ours. Simply inconceivable by human standards.

Now, I understand the issues with Abrahamic religions that have a central figure that dictates any and all reasoning, but religion itself was inevitable. We can't help but question who we are and what our purpose is, and in many ways religion provides that stability and comfort in the face of uncertainty. Our path to the sciences was not without religion, so I give credit where credit is due. While I can certainly say I'm past religion at this point, I'm not opposed to others practicing as long as their practices don't become hurtful or forceful...

Which itself becomes difficult to judge, since children are always indoctrinated into religion by no choice of their own (likely not knowing choices exist.) Then there's the whole, "Which doctrine is the true doctrine?" problem and moral spectrum that all the religions/practices fall on relative to other people w/ their own morals... possibly founded from their own religious beliefs... yadda yadda

Well... I don't think there are any right answers, but only ways to keep enough people purposeful and happy in their lives  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

*I feel like this might come off a bit r/iamverysmart at the beginning with a certain mindset. I don't claim to fully understand subjects, since learning never ends, our endeavors in science never end, and I'm no genius by any standard, haha. The scope of religion v. the scope of science, our reality, is what i'm getting at.
**It's a bit late, so I might come off a bit scatterbrained. I don't mean to offend anyone.
