  1. Watching it right now.

Shiki from Sick. is so disgusting live when he uses clean vocals.... soooo disgusting.

Same with the band before them.

    EDIT 1.

They are disgusting live in general -_-

    EDIT 2.

The keyboard guy uses screams and growls. The bassist does it, too. But Shiki can't do shit, and when he does it - it's pathetic.

ROTFL the DIRU/kyo cult at it again.  How much money do guys make discrediting other music. I guess cause grieva is dying and Rentrer en soi is dead so you guys been stalking the thirteen for a straw you can grab. And i stress the word "STRAW," as it seems you already know your off base here with agree that this is their main stream instrumental and their chorus but you gotta grab something right? but the way you phrase it with "maaan, I can't help but think about DEG"  is straight up subjective, something your brain could have easily conjured up to keep Kyo elevated in stature. Plus going on like that, your so called "beef" is with "Mao" and you thinking about your god "Kyo." Not the bands. Furthermore you dig yourself deeper by saying "constantly trying to emulate him." "constantly?" So Mao does have his own thing and isnt "always" "emulating" kyo in his "10-year old career?"  or is he always?  Cause if so ima need a whole thread of Mao disco with every track and the Kyo track he is referencing. And even if what you are saying is true which im certain  isnt considering how post undead 13+2 is hated and how commercial/MainstreamVK Mao's bands can get with Sadie's Redline, ever, daydream rain fall, Setsugekka (雪月花), The Gazette toying,  and sadie's last album "Gangster" which continued on to be The Thirteen's Disco up to this EP, lets talk about Kyo. Are you not being a hypocrite? Kyo nor DEG is original for that matter. They copied Kuroyume, Luna Sea, BMTH, ECT.  Kyo is definitely ripping of and failing at False chord which he stole from some western band along with those fry screams. Also on his Journey to be a Western Metal influence he copied their hair cut as well as fashion with the leather jackets and stuff. I would bring up marilyn manson but idk the timeline for his video's and Music VS Visual Kai's. but you get the point im trying to make with "plenty of minor details."

Edit: back to the thread, if your not going to make it can you or atleast tell me if these are kyo byproducts WITH RECIEPTS PLEASE those are my fav for singing.

Are you not familiar with Western music? Everything Trap, Mumble rap, all the females sounding the same and still on the charts?

Anyway people need to get over sadie (The Thirteen is sadie[gangster]) wiping there asses with diru over the years and completely body them on bleach with Oboreru Sakana and Voice of pain remaster versions and not be mad the moved on to new greatness beyond upgrading like baby go for it.

    Duuude, chill.
Everything anyone says is subjective, especially when it comes to music, ok? Sure, you can use your musical education if you have one, or you can write me a huge list with what you deem as proof. Does it change anything? No.

I am not a DEG fan, nor am I a fan of Mao. I'm just a dude listening to music.

Yes, I find Mao emulating DEG. Yes, DEG emulated other bands, and it's confirmed, too.  Everyone is ripping off everyone else. But let's see what we have here:

DEG changed drastically over the cource of 20 years - looks, music. influences. They constantly changed. Their inspirations changed. One day they copied Kuroyume, next day they copied Korn, third day they copied Architects (name any other band). So yes, they grew, took everything from all of the inspirations that they ever had, and tried to do something somewhat original that sells.

Now let's look at Mao. I am no musical expert, but when I first heard them in 2007, to me he already tried to emulate Kyo, which is fine. In 2009 - still the same thing, it's justthat he tried to emulate Kyo from their different era.

2011, 2013, 2015 - maaaan, just stop it already, we know that your respect/suck up to Kyo, find some other major inspirations, ok?

And now he has a different project in 2017, and it's still the same thing.

I hope you see what I am trying to say here.

It doesnt seem to be a thing for the majority of bands and artists that's got no connection to the vk/jrock/jpop tag in general. Japanese punk and metal artists goes silent for years without announcing anything. Not a problem for anyone at all. Akways thought announcements like thid was very weird.

Maybe the general audience of VK has something to do with that.

I can't say that many fans of any genre are mature in general, but when 90% of your fanbase is 18year old girls (I generilize, but that's not so far from the truth) who are easy to impress and lose their shit altogether ("why don't my fav musicians do anything, hey, I should harass them on Twitter to learn what's happened") - I guess that's the main reason.

  4. It was one of the most disgusting clean vocals I heard in the last year.

They are getting softer as well. I guess little fan-girls cannot handle brutal deathcore that well, after all they need some vanilla moments.

    I like the instrumentals.

But the clean vocals just ruined everything, I literally had to pause a couple of times to calm down.

*getting back into the j rock scene*

    ....Oz disbanded? :(

I can feel you haven't been around j-rock for years)

    Yeah, in 2013, I believe.

I don't think we can string up Mao for being a Kyo derivative for literally 10 years, the reason being... (and I love the guy).. he doesn't have HALF the vocal capacity Kyo does. As obviously as he pays homage to him, he's really FORCED to develop his own style.. the things that make Kyo special as a singer, all of his selling points, things Mao can't follow lol. I started listening to both around 2006 and in 10 years of watching them I know Mao to be differentiated whether he likes it or not loll. In the end Mao's particular throat strain is well known in it's own right (he's kinda MORE distinguishable on initial hearing because of his unique flaws))

By copying I mostly meant the fact that he is constantly trying to emulate him. It's not about the end result - I can clearly hear the differences, too. But the style, the melody, the looks, plenty of small details - that's the problem for me. His inspiration is way too obvious.
And that's why it's fine when you are just a beginner. But when you are on the scene for more than 10 years, and you are still trying to do exactly the same thing from 2006 (which is emulating your idol in many details) - that's where it kind of points to creative impotence.

I get it. Two of these members are from a band that has spent a majority of their time active ripping off Dir en grey songs.  With that said, there's a crap ton of crap they've written thats original as fuck. This seems to be a prime example of that. Besides the drop A tuning (which, newsflash is not exclusive to Dir en grey), this sounds nothing like any previously released D.E.G song.

There's blatant fact/examples and then theres reaching just for the sole purpose of reaching. I know this band isn't liked here, but you reachin....

I would put it this way.

Instrumental-wise this song is nothing like DEG - there's too many metalcore riffs and ideas. On top of that, there's a typical Sadie chorus.

But when it comes to vocals - maaan, I can't help but think about DEG. Completely same style, same approach, and, basically, everything.

The thing that I'm constantly wondering about - it's ok to copy someone else when you are 22-25 years old and you are just beginning your career. But when you way above 30 years old, you have a 10-year old career in the industry, just why the hell can't you fucking come up with an original look and something that somewhat differentites you from the guy you are constantly trying to emulate...

hope they'll announce a new release as this new combo anytime soon - curious if they'll have a slight change in sound because of the member changes though...

I really hope for that - I hope that Haruka will bring something interesting to the band, I have no hopes for the bassist and the drummer (their bands don't seem to be famous, and they are lesser known then Naru and Haruka, so I'm afraid they wouldn't have much say in the band's direction)

Are non-vkei shows different? It seems so strange to me. As if fans only attend vk lives if the members of said band are the sex they're attracted to. Looking at this exist trace live video it seems they have mostly male fans. What have you guys observed from the Visual Kei lives in your countries?

    ahhh, man

    let's be honest.

The idea of visual-kei is to sell a perfect image of somebody that doesn't exist.

Same with all of the pop-idols. This is an industry, first of all, music comes secondary. We have a target audience of 18-year old Japanese girls, most likely obsessed with androgynous male image and who read a lot of josei and shojo manga.. They are not gonna buy music in general - they don't give a shit about that. What you can sell to them is an image.

    as it was once put:
"No, they’re sexy, but they don’t exist in the same universe as the fans. They don’t have chlamidya, they don’t worry about child support payments, they don’t have girlfriends or baby-mamas. They don’t have a stinky van. The fans don’t want to think about that! They want a dream, (not a man or a woman), they want a higher being, a look out of a fairy-tale. That’s why we do all the makeup and hair. It’s not about the guitars or playing A-flat in a Lydian mode."

In case you didn't notice - it's the same thing with anime. It will always cater to the male audience, because we tend/are willing to spend whatever money we have on our obsession - be it motorbykes or fuck-pillows. And if you take socially awkward males who had no success with women and life in general, and sell them over-sexualized image and play on their instincts - oh boy, you get a really good chunk of revenue. So you can see the similarities with the visual-kei approach here.

So, the visual-kei's target audience just does the same - spending whatever they have on their obsession. The difference is that visual-kei found its small (really small) niche of fans who are ready to do that. If we take population in general - it will not work. But it just takes whatever mental image/ideal the fans have, wrap it in a nice way, add a little bit of consumer psychology/evolutionary psychology and neurobiology (yes, it's the thing, I highly recommend reading material on how the last two infuence what we buy and how much we are willing to spend) - and you get your revenue =)

Hence, we have a situation, that mostly females go to visual-kei gigs (because it was created for them), mostly (hungry/semi-virgin) males go for female pop-idols' gigs (because it was created for them), and etc. Which is fine.

It's all about money, not the art.

  10. NOW is going to release their single on 2017.9.9 called "Just call my name".

They've already released their PV for "Leave me alone"

And there's a big surprise for all of you, Aikaryu fans, out there. Daiki (Aikaryu bassist) is playing as support for this band (frankly, that's the only reason why I bothered to start this topic)

  11. There are plenty of suspisions that it is Hajime (ex-Triggah, ex-Gengah)

He was the first one to introduce this band on his twitter account.

He also changed his name on twitter to 清十郎 - Seijiro

And Russian social networks confirm that:

    Vo: 清十郎 - Seijiro - (ex. Die La'vice → S.C.R.M → THE GLADROW → TRIGGAH → GENGAH(壱-hajime-))
    Gu: 緋月- Hitsuki - (ex-Since Fall Sin → support GENGAH → GENGAH(Ryo))
Gu: 神癒 -CAMY ( ex - support GENGAH(Yuka))
    Ba: ざんすー - Zansuh
    Dr: 蒼嵐 - SOARA

  12. Hungary, I believe.

They even toured in Japan, and I have to respect that, good job. It is this rare case when visual kei inspired band managed to make it that far. But then I wouldn't be surprised if the reason why they had these gigs was because they themselves happened to be in Japan at that time, and managed to land these gigs themselves.

The voice makes my ears bleed, drum-machine is insanely horrible (c'mon, write drums in Guitar Pro, import it into FL, apply EZ drummer or any other plug in, and you have something much better than this crap) and guitars are...

One of these cases when even if it were a Japanese band, I wouldn't have given it a chance.

As one of my professional musician friends pointed out - even at shitty anime festivals that she ever attended all cover-bands sounded better, lol.

  13. Also, for those who don't know who Yanagi is - he was the main composer for Saruin (most likely), and he was the main composer for Konig - he used to play there with Loki (ex. Sugar, now - More).

He had to leave Konig because of leukemia or cancer. Doctors didn't give him enough time, but he fought back. He also started "Bless this mess" while not fully recovered. I believe he still has to go to hospital quite often.
