How the hell did Ja Rule in the early 2000's get away being tone deaf and sounding like he has a cold?
Sure, Mesmerize is catchy, but Ashanti is the only one putting any actual effort into the music lmao
-
Ashanti... when hip-hop was so good... I grew up with her!

Same here. As much as I shit on Ja Rule's attempt at singing, I won't lie I actually enjoyed hearing his stuff as a child

What was with Visual Kei's obsession with pinch harmonics between 1998 and 2004, and what god damn idiot was the one who decided to stop using them? lmao

@saiko My favourite examples would be Schwein no Isu and Zan by Dir en Grey, Kuse by Mist of Rouge, and Schizophrenia by Chateau la Tour

I wish it was easy to remove vocals from a song. There are so many songs I like the vocal track of, but don't care for the instrumentals and just wanna redo the instrumentals
-
@Manabu Oh I've tried that and it barely works with the songs I want to redo lol.
-
Just got back from the doctor, and its official. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

To add to your last point, it definitely takes a huge weight off of your shoulders when you have a clearer picture of what's going on in your body.
I'm not sure if you were diagnosed with the vascular type of EDS (vEDS), but regardless, don't overlook the continued advances of EDS research and treatment methods. As long as you're mindful with what you have and keep a positive mindset, that's really the best you can do.
EDS doesn't define you, but maybe vk bandomen do =P.

Bandmen: *leaves band*
Tanuki: IT'S BECAUSE HE GOT A GIRL PREGNANT WHILE SMOKING HEROIN AND BEAT UP THE BABY WHILE PUNCHING HIS FIST UP A MITSU'S ASS-
@patientZERO No, this isn't about any bandmen in particular. I just felt like making fun of some of the more common Tanuki rumors.
Plus, I don't highly defend Kisaki rumors anymore lol. I'm past that problematic phase lol

Having obscure music tastes is a curse because it limits your dating pool (and I'm one of those people who can't connect with people who have vastly different music tastes) and it's like... why can't I just be like all the other girls and like P!ATD, Lil Peep, BTS and Ariana Grande? Why do I have to be into nobodies like Cuartet and DEViL KiTTY?
-
Hey, i feel ya, plebeian music taste is annoying. 😅
Tho I would submit that it may not be the most resourceful measure to base a potential relationship on. Besides, you never know - there are tons of people out there who may have vastly different music tastes than you, but would also be open minded enough to learn about and possibly even enjoy the music that you do (in addition to being a great partner in every other aspect). This has been my experience at least.
Just my two cents 😁

Who knew that Gulu Gulu would provide us what some of us wish DEZERT would provide to us? Holy fuck the new mini is awesome. It's not Kuroyuri, it's not Memento Mori, it's its own thing, but in a good way. Hearing Ai's voice again just makes me feel so happy. If my highschool days were filled with me jamming Kuroyuri and DEZERT, my young adult days will be spent jamming to Gulu Gulu and JIGSAW
-
@ricchubunny Same here! I'm generally not one for ballads but oh boy, these are some amazing ones.

Does anyone have cats that have weird music preferences? My bebby Faerie loves it when I play Javanese Gamelan music
(obligatory picture of the baby)
-
IDK if this counts but my cat stops sleeping and gets up to leave whenever I sing along to Diru or X Japan (she really hates my attempts at their ballads lol)

So I'm guessing late 90s vkei bands got their love for spoken lyrics from Deshabillz? Or did Deshabillz get it from somewhere else?
-
Well, since we were talking about post-punk influences… I am certain G-Schmitt had a huge influence on this trope, as they had a few songs with spoken parts. Here is one song, that always reminds me heavily of the dark 90s VK bands:
The intro of this Gilles de Rais song is also very Deshabillz-esque (and features Lucifer from Gille's Love)
So I'd say it's been around quite some time, just like counting on German (earliest use by Zi:Kill afaik).

Is it just me, or do Jesse and James from Pokemon look like the kind of people who'd listen to Visual Kei in the early 90s?
I could imagine Jesse listening to X Japan and COLOR while James listens to D'erlanger and Zi:Kill. Also my headcanon is that they met at a Kamaitachi concert

Anyone know what happened to that CrowXClass "2nd album" that was supposed to be live distributed, according to an interview, but yet any official source of CrowXClass says there is only one album?
Also, anyone know what really happened to CrowXClass in general? xD
Like, did they ever officially disband? Or did Kurona just forget about them because Wagakki Band?
-
its entirely possible they chose never to release it. its rare but bands do that.
-

-
Possibly so. CrowXClass always confused me, as it was my first Vkei band, but even as a person who is way more knowledgeable on Vkei than I've ever been, they still confuse me xD
Like, why is their first "Album" barely an EP of 7 songs? Who exactly is Shion? (Everyone says he/she is Kiyoshi Ibukuro, but they don't share many similar features. I suspected he could be Shin Ichikawa.) And why did Kurona just abandon them for Wagakki Band- Wait, no I can answer that. *Coughs* Avex *Coughs* Valuing money over creative freedom *Cough*

That really embarassing moment when you realise you accidentally posted in the wrong section and anxiety just starts going crazy
-
I understand completely how you're feeling, but it's not a big deal once you've been here as long as I have xD it happens more often than you think, so don't think you did anything bad xD

I literally haven't heard anything from them recently, which is sad because I used to hear from them way more often.

Otsuka Headlock by DEZERT is so catchy. I gets me in weird mood where I want to both headbang, and dance.
Dancing to Metal should be a legitimate thing. If Hardcore Punk has hardcore dancing, who says I can groove out to something metal? xD
Well, we already kind of have that thing in Vkei, if you count the small dances Kyo from Dir En Grey used to do for the song Myaku, or Karma from AvelCain does to Gesshoku
-
it's one of my favorites of theirs!!

Anyone know what kind of guitar Takemasa Kujou uses? I know it's an ESP guitar, but it looks like a cross between an ESP Stream, and an Ibanez Iceman
-
I wonder if there are Vkei weebs who are like "I learned French from looking at names of KoteKei bands, and listening to Versilles!" xD
-
Well, there are tons of weebs going "I learned Japanese from watching anime!"

Black Sugar & Cigarette from GossiP's new EP has a really old school Rock N' Roll feel, but with an aggressive Punk twist
-
it's so catchy, it's gotta be my favourite song off of the mini, if not my current favourite song above everything else

The heaviest Metal band in the world is Fear Factory. I mean, look at that guitarist! All the members combined weight with him is pretty heavy. Probably about a few thousand pounds at most.
Oh, you mean heavy in guitar? Well, early Dir En Grey used an ESP Ganesa, which is a big guitar that weighs a lot.
Pretty heavy. So heavy, they switched to SG clonesWait, you mean heavy in tone? As in Amps? Well, most Metal band use valve amps, combined with big cabinets, which weigh a lot.
So.. IDK who to choose thereOh, you mean heaviness in sound? Well, soundwaves don't really have mass, but higher frequencies have more air particles close together, so...
*Pulls out an oscilloscope* This is gonna be a long one-

If you change the title of the Zi:Kill song "Bad Man" to "Batman", the lyrics sort of make sense. Only sort of though.
I'd love to see someone try and interpret the song
-
I always enjoyed that song and sincerely with that title change, everything becomes clearer! Probably it's an hidden reference to the Dark Knight

Even though the remake of Kiri to Mayu has grown on me, I still think Diru shouldn't have replaced the original. At least still preform the alternate version, Sangeki no York. Just something please to keep us old fans stimulated
-
惨劇のヨーク must be the secret alternative version they wrote while spending time abroad in the UK.

The version of Grieva's Tokage in the PV spot and the version released on the DVD and Album sound so different and it annoys me. Like, I want to hear the full version of the one that came with the PV spot, but the actual audio was only released once.
Unless someone can come across some rare "single" version. I notice on the tracklisting of the DVD it's PV was released on, it said "Album version"
-
Obscure business gimmickery, maybe?
-
Himeaimichu reacted to this
-
Possibly, but better not be. The guitars on the PV spot sound fuller. It all fits together more.
But it's definitely possible they could have pulled a Shinjou Kasumi and decide to re-record it, and only use that rerecording (the huge irony is that Reload, Grieva's old band, used to be managed by Shinjou Kasumi)
