  1. Does anyone know any examples of "Professional" Musicians getting involved in VisualKei? All I can think of is percussionist Cato Isao and Music Professor/Session drummer Tetsuro, both of which played in bands with the same members, JyuLie and GossiP. As well as the entire lineup of CrowXClass.

And I don't mean involved as in doing one song, but like actually being an integral part of the band

What exactly do you mean by 'Professional'? ahaha. Most musicians consider a 'professional' someone who gets paid for their talents full time, which would mean most Visual Kei musicians are professional musicians.

I'd guess we are talking about formally EDUCATED musicians right? 'Cause yeah most vk bands would be technically professional (although we can't rule out any and all who may also be working on the side to stay afloat loll!).

Love hearing all that about Matenrou Opera, it shows!

@reminiscing2004 Yeah, basically what @Elazmus said. Formally Educated Musicians, sometimes those who often play outside of Vkei, like in the case of Cato Isao, who nowadays is more known for preforming Samba music in Brazil instead of support for JyuLie lol.

Also, @Komorebi, that's very interesting! Thanks!

  2. Does anyone know anything about Mad Face Records (Dezert's label)?

I can't find anything on them

  3. Does anyone know if a larger, more hi-res version of this picture of The GazettE exists somewhere?

  4. Does anyone know if DJ D-Nice from Boogie Down Productions made any music or produced anything since he left the group in '92?

It seems like most of the careers of the members, minus KRS-One, ended after 1992. Especially the ones who left before the release of Sex and Violence

  5. Does anyone know if this Guruguru Eigakan song is meant to be a cover of an actual Enka song, because I swear I've heard this exact Taishogoto melody in another song before.

  6. Does anyone know of any good Korean folk-metal bands other than Gostwind?

  7. Does anyone know of any Vkei songs with a similar feel to this one? I really like this song for some reason

This Kilah song was kind of similar, I guess. They were on Eternal and one of their guitarists ended up being in Devil Kitty / Deadly Sanctuary, so I'm assuming he was friends with Yuuga at some point before this song came out.

Oh yeah, that's the song that ripped off Lamiel lmao.

Kyosei from Kiryu shares a lot of the same chords as the Chateau song, especially in the bridge, and Mahiro is also connected to Yuuga.

  8. Does anyone know the story behind these early Inugami Circus Dan's TV performances? They seem to be from way before they released anything

    1. saiko

      saiko

Wow, did they ever had TV attention?

    2. Tokage

      Tokage

@saiko I'm pretty sure they've even been on Utaban at some point - the same variety show that's featured artists like Gackt and Morning Musume in the past lol - think it was around 2003 when they kinda seemed to have 'peaked' (around the time the Kami no Inu album came out)

As for these videos - they must be from some of their veeeery early days. In one of them they show a picture at the end that looks like some kinda album/single cover but I don't recognize it. Thought it could mb be their first 'official' ep from '97 but the cover's entirely different

  9. Edit: Live now!

IDK if I'm allowed to promote this here, but I'm gonna be streaming GTA San Andreas a little tonight for the first time on Twitch, and I was wondering if any of y'all would like to join in and give feedback

  10. Even after this band fizzled into the nothingness, this song still fucking slaps.

i love ai shinkirou by them! was going to embed youtube video but it was yours ww didn't know they had a pv...i find vocals questionable a bit but it's not bad, and their instrumentals are very pleasant.

Yeah, Kurona was never the best vocalist, but he was a pretty good song-writer. I just wish this band released more beyond their first album. Lots of unreleased stuff they only played live lol.

  11. For my fellow Cuartet fans, Saki is starting to play in session bands again.

  12. For my fellow fans of Traditional Japanese music, here's something interesting: Hikaru Sawai, son of the Koto master Tadao Sawai, started the proto-VisualKei Metal band Mephistopheles. His Koto work is also very Metal influenced.

IDK if he still plays in Mephistopheles though.

    1. Komorebi

      Komorebi

      Nice, thanks for the tip.

  13. Gosh, I forgot how fucking amazing the Inuyasha soundtrack is. It's a shame not many of the orchestra performances of it implement the traditional Japanese instruments that were used in the making of the soundtrack, because the various flutes, Koto and Biwa used really make it shine.

  14. GossiP's new EP has got me listening to The Stray Cats again,

BTW if you don't know who Stray Cats are, you're missing out on a lot. They were a rockabilly group that were popular in out of all decades the 80's. Also they were really popular in Japan, and even hold an influence on Vkei.

  15. Gulu Gulu is having a Niconico live right now!

Hi, did you happen to record it? I'd love to see it 😍

  16. Has anyone heard from Caligari recently? How are my precious corpse paint Eroguro beans doing?

I literally haven't heard anything from them recently, which is sad because I used to hear from them way more often.

Guitars' tone sounds dirty in a really bad way, and vocals very weak. Overall composition is in a teen-Slipknot-fan level. Horrible. Video seems cool, though.

The cherry on the top is that these guys actually did a cover of Lil Wayne out of all people once.

And they have gotten political on multiple songs

  18. Hit myself too hard in frustration earlier (dumb move on my part) and now every light is hurting my eyes.

Take a lesson from the idiot here, don't hit your forehead. Ever.

It's feeling better now. I didn't hit myself too hard. It was with my own hand after all lol.

I just probably need some rest since it is late at night

  19. Holy fuck, so y'all know that picture of Yuuga I found where he looks like a total scene kid?

Yeah that same picture, although blurry, is in the background of the Akuma Kicha cover, on the TV

  21. How the hell did Ja Rule in the early 2000's get away being tone deaf and sounding like he has a cold?

Sure, Mesmerize is catchy, but Ashanti is the only one putting any actual effort into the music lmao

    1. Manabu

      Manabu
