platy reacted to ghost in Actors who tried a music career
Crispin Glover released one album. It's an experimental fever dream-like spkoken-word record. Reaaally bizarre stuff.

Steven Seagal has a few albums out.
Andy Lau has about a billion albums, just like a billion other Asian actors and actresses. So in his case, and Jackie Chan etc, it's not as unusual as it in certain times have been incredibly popular to work this way.
I haven't heard everything he's ever done, but this song is just beyond fantastic.
Meiko Kaji is another one. She is easily among my all time favourite actors, and she's released some incredible music as well. In fact she's a personal favourite of mine. Quentin Tarantino used two of her songs in Kill Bill, Shura no Hana and Urami Bushi.

Milla Jovovich had a very cute solo album in early 90s and released some stuff later:
does that Hakuei-produced actor turned VK idol count here or it's a western thread lol?

Yosuke Kubozuka (known for the movie GO, dramas like Ikebukuro West Gate Park, the live action of GTO, etc. and recently in some stuff in the West like Martin Scorsese's Silence) has been a reggae singer under the name 卍LINE (Manji LINE) for several years now.
He's admittedly not the best at it, but some of the tracks are kinda fun.
Also, absolutely yes to Party All The Time. That's such a great track.

Jeff Goldblum
His rendition of Cantaloupe Island
It's not the least bit surprising that it's jazz music, sadly from what I've heard it's mostly covers but it's nice to hear some of the golden oldies getting a boom in the modern age.

I discovered today that Troy Baker, Robert Downey Jr and Ryan Gosling all have released albums at some point in their career.
If anything, I hope this entertains you at least a little. Robert Downey Jr. is the worst one I found so far.
Do you know of any other actors who have have released music? Any good releases out there?
Ryan Gosling
Robert Downey Jr
Troy Baker

platy reacted to Total Saikou in Bullying topic
Necro'd this topic for a fun fact about my username! It's not merely a pun, but also kind of stems from when I was bullied as a kid. I would say it was the worst when I was in 2nd grade, probably because a lot of my friends left my side and sometimes I would have kids throwing things at me (mostly playground pebbles and the occasional toy, I always got into so much trouble just because I would throw them back!). I got called a lot of names, like psycho, spaz, freak, and even retard (makes me sad to think that at 9-10 years old, those kids knew that word). Yeah, I remember the phrase "total psycho" from my childhood really well. To be honest, I'm not really sure what came first, my perverse behaviour as a child or being called all these names and being treated like a pariah. I kind of own it now, though. I'm proud to be psycho... A Saikou Because if you look at it from a different perspective, even bad things can be good.

platy reacted to Rize in What Asian dramas are you currently watching?
@platyI haven't started watching Flowers or Evil yet, so I can't tell for now >,<
also Itaewon class is brilliant, it's about life, working and reaching your dreams, all the ups and downs, just as real life actually is.
From start to end, it won't let you down!

I know its 2 completely different industries but I just got my first physical kpop release and the amount of stuff that came with it for its price is actually insane, personal letter written from the members, a bookmark photo of one of the members, a sort of photo of one of the members, big ass poster, 100 page photo booklet and the actual cd itself which was a standard single with 3 tracks all for like $12 not including shipping lol

@Gesu your early 20s do be like that. Start by filling your time in between job applications with volunteering, at least your CV won't be empty and it'll keep your mind busy. Opportunities are ripe atm with vulnerable elderly being unable to work at charity shops, for example. It'll give you experience dealing with people and it'll give you a reference you can call on for future jobs. Then, like mentioned above, take what you can because any foot in the door is a positive step towards getting smth better.

platy got a reaction from Rize in What Asian dramas are you currently watching?
@Linh-san would that Flower or Evil have anything to do with the manga/anime of the same name?
I started watching Kantaro The Sweet Tooth Salaryman and it's the perfect example of a manga brought to life. The expressions, way of speaking, depictions of food, it's all very exaggerated and ridiculous. The show is very informative about traditional Japanese deserts tho and as a foodie, I'm enjoying it.
My friend has been bothering me to watch Itaewon Class. I made him watch Love and Fortune (which is without a doubt hundreds of times more disturbing than his recommendation) so I guess I'll return the favor. I just wish kdramas weren't SO long, feature length episodes, seriously?
