Top 5 favourite animes

Unfortunately, I don't watch anime as much these days, but I still enjoy going back to watch old seasons or series I've missed in the past. I've watched some newer ones on occasions. I think I first began watching anime with DBZ and Pokemon. Time flies! Choosing a top five is tough! There's a lot I like watching even if it's just for nostalgia or something else. If I had to choose (in no particular order): Yu Yu Hakusho - Love this series. Comedy was hilarious, and the dynamic between the characters are unforgettable. Trigun - It's got 90s animation all over it, but I highly enjoy the plot. The goofiness combined with the dark depth underneath made for a great combination. Ranma 1/2 - Extremely funny and the whole gender-bending "issue" made all of it even better. .hack//sign - Virtual world gaming, but with a whole lot of psychological issues and other serious elements Death Note - Interesting concepts of Death Gods and the Death Note. The two opposite rivals was neat, too. Honorable Mentions (if my list of favorites could be even longer XP): Inuyasha - The plot and the characters were great, but there was way too much filler towards the end in the original series ^^; Wolf's Rain Evangelion Saiunkoku Monogatari Fushigi Yuugi Akatsuki no Yona Rurouni Kenshin - I'd say the whole series, but it's been too long since I last watched it. I distinctly remember the Shishio arc, though. FMA - Sadly, I've only watched the original one. But I've heard the Botherhood series is really good. I need to watch that someday to compare, lol. Fate/Zero Mai-Hime - Starts off silly and nonsensical, but it gets quite serious towards the latter half of the series. Love the music in this one. -

Saiyuki Reload Blast Black Butler (Though the Book of Circus and Book of Murder were a lot better lol disregard season 2) Elfen Lied The Devil is a Part timer Wolf's Rain That's about it. I don't get too much into anime anymore, though if The Devil is a Part Timer would just get a season 2 I would definitely jump back into that. Devilman Crybaby was pretty good and Mirai was actually a really cute movie to watch. -
1 pointHey everyone! It's been a while! (Probably 5 years since I stepped down as moderator here, damn!) I'm kinda back into VK/J-Rock and stuff, so I'm probably trying to start hanging out here more like the old days. I hope everyone is still doing fine and well! I wonder who are still active here from the time I was active on this forum. Anyways, like old days, hope to get a chance to talk through the chat! Also, I'm open to any band recommendations, hit me up with links as spotify and such. Maybe my lastfm will help with some recommendations ^^ I'm currently still into MEJIBRAY and I also like bands such as ACME, HAKLO, Versailles, Diaura, Nocturnal Bloodlust, Royz. Hope to see my old friends again as meeting new friends! Yoroshikuuuu~~

The good part of being home alone is that you can produce more. Here's my cover of IDOL. I'll probably mix it again sometime. Hope you'll enjoy~ -

"Where in the World is Yoshiki"
shane reacted to Total Saikou for a post in a topic
I dunno wtf was running through Yoshiki's head when he thought that St. Vincent's Starbucks only drinking, socks with sandals wearing, nothing but mayo on white bread eating, clapping when the plane is landing, thinks that pepperoni is spicy audience would be good exposure for him and X Japan. I bet money that it ain't. -

Hello (yet again)
monkeybanana4 reacted to Muma for a post in a topic
Hello again!! I used to frequent here quite a few years ago and have dropped off since. I've made a few "hello again" posts and have dipped in and out but im hoping I'm here to stay for good I wonder if any of our veterans on here remember me... I've not actively listened to VK in a long time but I rediscovered my old hard drive with all my music on it and fell in love yet again Bands I have kept listening to despite falling out of touch with VK are Dir en Grey, MUCC, Plastic Tree, Buck-Tick, Kiryu, Awoi, Kagrra, DEZERT, Versailles and lynch to name a few (not much new stuff on there I realise!!) There are also a few non vk Japanese bands I love such as humbert humbert, kinoko teikoku, envy, MONCA URANGLASS, The Oral Cigarettes, LITE, Kenshi Yonezu, TK from Ling Toshite Sigure and amazarashi Excited to delve into this world again 😊 -

CAT-SAMA! <3 Yeah, things worked out quite well! Thank you! Hope to be able to talk to you often again like in the old days! Thank you! That might be possible, 'cause due my private life I stepped down from being a moderator back somewhere in 2015, since then I visited the forum once a few months, but I hope to be fully back again... or at least more often like before! I'm actually into Collar X Malice since they have released the EU versions for the Nintendo Switch, I'm sooo into the story! Otomate games are taking over my kokoro hehe. -

Top 5 favourite animes
monkeybanana4 reacted to plastic_rainbow for a post in a topic
Top 5 is pretty hard to choose! There's a lot that I enjoy depending on my mood/genre and I just started delving more into old 80s anime in recent years, including other classic stuff that I missed. DBZ and Sailor Moon were my first anime, and Cardcaptor Sakura was a childhood favorite that I do really still love ngl (the clear card-hen was absolute shit tho). Anyway, I'm gonna list by series and movies too cuz there's quite a few movies that I enjoy. Series: (stuff that I've at least watched twice) Mushishi Death Note Saraiya Goyou Aoi Bungaku Series Serial Experiments Lain Movies: Perfect Blue Spirited Away Mind Game Vampire Hunter D (2000) Koe no Katachi Honorable Mentions: Monogatari Series, Kemonozume, Gankutsuou, Monster, Ping Pong the Animation, Elfen Lied, The Tatami Galaxy, Boogiepop Phantom, Kino no Tabi (2003) -
1 pointI'm extremely surprised that SHIMONETA, a *modern* ecchi series with extremely childish jokes is in YOUR favorites. But even I, senior hater of ecchis and harems, enjoyed that series. It was super entertaining, cleverly dumb and the characters were fun. I'm also surprised Prison School is there too, but the first half of the manga is in my all time faves. This is why we get along @YuyoDrift My top 5 Started watching late 90s/00s when I was around 5 or 6. First anime was either Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura. 1. FMA Brotherhood (we're never getting this level of quality in the industry again) 2. Space Dandy 3. Kill la Kill 4. Yu Yu Hakusho 5. Rurouni Kenshin (Shishio Arc only) I would add Cardcaptor Sakura somewhere in my list, but I'm gonna rewatch it first to see if it's still as good as I thought. Previous favorites that got booted off the list after a rewatch include Sailor Moon and 2 seasons of Rurouni Kenshin. Honorable mentions: Devilman Crybaby, Samurai Champloo, Made in Abyss, JJBA Battle Tendency, Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai

Since I'm pretty much your friend, please let me in to this playlist when you're done (though I do listen to a few more recent more "oshareish" and idol kei bands it's not heavy nor old so I'm curious as to what you'd compile/what one would define as "vk" nowadays tbh hmm) As for a random thought... y'know just realized that the reason why I've been coming here so often isn't because of the music dls (to be honest about it I'm not listening to any more music than I was before, so it's not like I have a lot of interesting stuff to share and could be just lurking really - but I only realized that when I nearly stopped listening to music thanks to hearing impairments lol.) but because the layout is black thus less aggressive than most online forums and websites I used to frequent. At this point my migraines/aura suck so badly I was probably on an unconscious level drawn to websites with darker layouts, which is... something I must address quickly with doctors for everyone's sake. The good news is I just found a good eye-protective new monitor to buy -

Truly crappy Western "visual kei" inspired music
suji reacted to Karma’s Hat for a post in a topic
Yohio is not just some dude like the guys from Emmuree or like Aie who do visual kei as a lifestyle for the love of the sport. He is a sunglasses-indoors-wearing blowhard who's portraying himself as a living legend hot shit CEO. For him to not reach a certain level he aspires to would be devastating. It's make it or break it for him to get there right now with the vision he had envisaged years ago with KEIOS, Desaiha, Lovelipop etc. And I actually have to disagree, I don't think he is that productive. Right now is the only time he has been consistent since the melodifestivalen hype when he put out two albums in short order, which ended after they forgot about him in Sweden and his second attempt at Eurovision flopped. His release schedule right now is making me so angry, like why does he put out single songs constantly without even really promoting them before he moves on to promoting the next one! The only good rollout he has done recently was for his previous solo track. It'd do better to have put out all the english DISREIGN tracks as a EP because they're already super mediocre so at least you could put 4 or 5 in one package with a PV and a ballad and promote it for weeks and not move on from one to the next without anyone caring. No one has a relationship with the English DISREIGN and I've seen even his fans being confused and unenthusiastic. Right now there's a new DISREIGN track coming up with almost no warning and he already has three DISREIGN releases in the bag without a PV, and those PVs are his most popular content. He should've put out the DISREIGN tracks as an EP as well that he really actually promoted, and done the legwork in Japan if possible. I just don't think he can stomach playing second fiddle at a multi-man event where only 3 people came to see him, because unlike what his socials would tell you I don't think he can even draw a decent crowd in Stockholm, let alone in Japan. My armchair booking for him would be releasing YOHIO solo tracks as stand-alone and build up for the album like he's doing, then DISREIGN and english DISREIGN tracks as either 2 track singles or minis with PVs. And it's better for him to put out one release a year that he'd promote right, instead of shitting out tracks without promoting any of them. Less is more etc. And while I'm sure he is busy playing CEO right now with dad's cash, he could even take a video of him recording something and post it as a daily Vlog because his ( small ) fanbase loves that. The way he abandoned his Patreon too just lowers the value of his brand and decreases the trust between him and the people dumb enough to pay for this trash. And this thread is great because after all, I think all this western stuff does deserve attention. For one, it's an outgrowth from vk culture so it is interesting in like a scholarly sense, and second the ones that are doing this are the ones who are brave and stupid enough to realise the dreams that more than a few members of this board have had myself included; and as an extension of that it's our duty to savagely tear down their hopes and dreams if necessary. If I was doing music I wouldn't have it any other way. -

Sometimes I wonder what VK would be like if instead of having band names like →△○~悲しいRoNrIiΚιð§~〠 they had generic rap names like Lil, Big, etc... Lil Diru, Lil X, Lil Larku... Yeah, that puts things into perspective for me, sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad.
