This shit is too difficult for me these days. I've made a list countless times of the bands that got me into the scene almost 15 years ago but most of them are either disbanded and irrelevant, or are present on EVERYONE's list of that time period (you all know the ones).

 

As of 2019 there are a host of bands that I follow primarily because they have members of some of those previously mentioned bands, and still plenty of others I'm genuinely impressed by on their own merit despite having little faith that they will be a talking point by next year.

Current favorite active bands are JILUKA, D, lynch., Matenrou Opera, Gotcharocka, Diaura, Kizu and "current Ryo shit".
Favorite disbanded bands include Kagrra, VRZEL, Morrigan, 9GBO, -Oz-, Malisend and Acid Black Cherry(?).

Stuff I don't stan hardcore but do enjoy and keep around include exist trace, GazettE, RAZOR, DIMLIM, NAZARE, Dadaroma, a bunch of other currently active/disbanded bands with similar sounds.

 

Do As Infinity and Ayumi Hamasaki are my all time favorite pop acts.
