Where do you guys go for your Jpop/Indie fix? not even jps has most of what I want...
-
Paramore's Idle Worship is the catchiest shit I've heard in synth pop in years. So, SO GOOD!
-
In other news, I gave 12012 self titled another shot and good lord, it's still TERRIBLE. Worse than the snoozefest that is DIAMOND
-
yeah awful music doesn't get better just because it's aged. most things rot when they expire.

Indeed. I was revisiting some old stuff that I didn't enjoy to see if anything had changed (I did appreciate more UNDIVIDE's debut this time around) and sadly 12012 still sucks so hard. It baffles me how a band can release awesome stuff like SEVEN or THE SWAN/XII while dropping a turd this big in between

I've grew to enjoy UNDIVIDE much more with years passing. It certainly is not a groundbreaking album, but it is filled with songs that do have their strength

SM#2 is a really good best compilation in my books. besides 盈虧 and SECRET No.03, I'd spin the that album tracks any day of the week.
-
The songs are good and will probably be more engaging in the context of a compilation album, but I think it was a mistake to not include any b-sides in these releases. They aren't all good, but songs like RenYuS, XV, 浴槽, THINKER, and 躁と鬱と境界 cannot be missed.
I also would have liked it if they arranged the tracklists to have a more "album-like" flow.

New Paramore has some really good songs, and this is coming from someone who never gave a damn to them. So if you're like me, give them another chance! Their transition from rehashed emo to sparking brit pop was beautifully done.
-
I really have a hard time figuring out how people can say SILENT PICTURE or SWALLOW THE NIGHT are bad songs. If anything, the composition alone is light years ahead of your average indie/dream/pop band

latest gossip SUUUUCKS

The best thing gossip has ever done was that ETCETERA cover.

Tatsuya's ELECTNINE had a really freaking good first release. I'll always wonder why he ditched such promising band in favor of that zechs weird ass shit

latest Dragon Ash is so DAMN GOOD. Great single, great lyrics, great b-side. You people are all missing on them!

Do any of you guys know what's the relation between Kasumi (ex. Gekijo Tenor, SMILE) and Unlucky Morpheus? He seems to be a member, but I'm having hard time to find a song he's singing in...
-
I was digging deeper and that's true, but he apparently is also a member of Unlucky Morpheus, and goes by the name of Tsuyoshi Denshirenji on his Touhou projects. On UM website, he is the leftmost on the picture. Searching his name's kanji (電子レンジ剛志) on youtube, I was able to find a bunch of songs he is the main vocal or shares the role with the female singer. But yeah, Icarus Cry seems to be his main Touhou band, and he does appear to have a managerial role in UM in some way

Ahh. I always wondered, why his label, Dear Dolce, failed. I mean, they had some good bands on there (if you ignore the throwaway bands like Piece.) and two of them are still relevant today (Memento Mori, which went on to be Kuroyuri to Kage, and Reload, which became Grieva).
I guess at the time there wasn't as much support for the indie scene? Because most of the bands came from the deep Tokyo indie scene.

It most likely have something to do with management issues. He had Dear Dolce, full of barely known indie bands. Then all of a sudden he created AKA-ON, that hosted a few more bands. Every time things like this happens is because tax issues or funds problems. My bet is that Dear Dolce had too many bands for too little revenue, and AKA-ON was a way for him to still have a label on a more manageable level, and keep gekijo tenor releases in house.

Goddamn, REALies' あの影の中で never fails to amaze me. It's one of the most emotional piece of music I've ever heard. They definitely went out with a blast.
-
Of all those bands that makes the same song over and over again, MORRIGAN is the one that nails it better. Everything sounds just like the previous release, but it's all equally good, lol

maaaan, ELLEGARDEN was STELLAR. I love the hiatus and NCIS is nice and all, but you can only do so many "Pepperoni Quattro" or "Don't Trust Anyone But Us" quality-grade albums in a career, right?

Wipeout and reconstruction.
Right back into Chain Reaction.

Breathe out, as I start a revolution
