LOL, I must have missed "I" then. What was it?

    Raise A Flag

Not happy about this being here. Also want to bet track 7 is the instrumental, like always. Not only does the tracklist remind me a lot of Kakera, but this album may just flow like their last two (heavy tracks up near the front, slow it down for the middle, speed it up for the end again).

  3. Wow, zesshoku. It's amazing how crappy that first Jeniva single was (mainly due to Sono, though), compared to how awesome the "sou mei kuru hi no tsuki" release was.

Pretty much. Cheesy synths and happy go lucky melodies can be forgiven in this context but sono ruins it. On one hand Sono's improved a ton since this. On the other hand, he hasn't improved one bit.

  4. futoshi92, you could try the album Sabae by 殻 (KARA). It's some melancholic alternative metal with some post-rock influences but that's a good place to start. a false distinction by Antikaruna is also another good artist to try. You can find links to both those artists by clicking on the first link in my sig.

  5. I haven't reviewed something in a while and mammoth reviews aren't needed.

Helios - It doesn't have enough substance to warrant being five minutes long, especially when some parts drag as they do. When it hits, it hits with the force of a cannonball wrecking a building. When it's not, you're just waiting for it to start up again, which leads to me getting bored. Fast. That's a super negative right there. Sono's singing has improved and Ayame's synth playing doesn't simply float on top, which are both positives. It's also got a nice Sonata Arctica / Nightwish/ general European power metal feel to it. Easily one of the more interesting songs they've put out lately, but it's negatives make it fall short of Faust and coal tar.

Adult Children - I thought that we moved past the "whiny gerbil on helium" portion of Matenrou's music making, but it's back. I dislike Sono's voice during the chorus, "can you fuckin' feel me" sounds lame and the uninspired group chanting needs to go. Solo is nice but nice solo =/= good song. I will probably never listen to this song again.

Helios (A Prayer to Helios ver.) - New intro is nice but transition into the actual song is jarring. Other than that, pos and neg's remain the same as before. My preferred version will depend on whether or not I want to sit through the minute and a half intro.

Magnolia - Sounds like standard Matenrou from the get-go, which means this song isn't really going to drive home. Very average and forgettable. Sounding like Jeniva was OK in the Jeniva era, but I really want more songs in the vein of Helios, not something that sounds like it was left off "Sou, Mei Kuru Hi no Tsuki". The synths aren't strong (or good) enough to channel Jeniva anyway. The solo made me chuckle in the best possible way though.

Kizuna - Being a ballad for a good reason doesn't make it a good ballad. A little on the boring side to be honest. I probably won't listen to this again either.

...there you go. Not TOO excited about this one. ABYSS was a much more solid effort.

  6. ^ Someone's gotta send you an invite but it doesn't matter because new accounts aren't being created for the moment.

If Google really wants to compete with Facebook, they better open the floodgates while the hype is hot. That would be, like, sometime this week preferably.

  7. If this is their way of trying to break into the American rock/metal scene, they're doing it the wrong way. Diru didn't get into the scene because they started collaborating with these artists (many of whom I dislike btw). They kept making music, kept selling the music, toured abroad and made fans and kept at it!

They're marketing their music to people with tastes too limited to accept a band from another country, unless both artists plan to permanently switch their language of choice to English.

  8. Right now I'm reading "A Game of Thrones" again by George R.R. Martin before I jump into "A Clash of Kings" and "A Storm of Swords" and "A Feast of Crows". I want to finish them all up before July 12th so I can read "A Dance with Dragons".

I think I can get it done.

  9. So it's like a single...but not really. This just makes my head hurt thinking about it x__x

Either way at least we'll get an idea of what AMON sounds like. Plus, the new version of Zan has me interested. Wonder if it will be the old one, the new one or a potentially even newer one.

  10. Time to update:

Electric Red's two singles are still good, as well as Thousand Leave's new album, although I've made up my mind about it not being as good as DEAD NIGHT BLIND.

I found all three of Boris' albums to be just a nudge above OK. There were good parts and average parts on each of the releases, although I still haven't gotten my hands on the vinyl releases of the last two so final impressions can wait.

Diru's LOTUS was boring. DIFFERENT SENSE was a step up but it's still missing ... something. Perhaps the MOO album will give me what I'm looking for.

D'espairsRay's antique compilation hit the spot. It's everything a D'espa fan or a potential D'espa fan needs to listen to minus a few songs they just couldn't fit on that release.

I BELIEVE IN ME was the best lynch. album yet.

Terra Tenebrosa's debut album was monstrous. Versailles' Holy Grail was monstrously average.

Previews for Matenrou's Helios makes it out to be a good song so I'm looking forward to it.

  11. I thought they were cancelling the departed members? I guess Gaku wanted out no matter what.

If their musical style doesn't change, why not... we'll see... But I really hope they will not do the shitty choreography with their arms at their live. lol

Too late. Take a look at the placement of the vocalist's hands. I have a feeling they're going to do it.
