It's not crazy at all. To some people, it's not a lot of money and they can just spend it like that and share with who they want. To other people, you can't put a price on good music and sharing something they spent a good deal of money on means nothing to them as long as they can see other people also enjoying the same music. Also, in the context of just this website the people that spend $40 on a CD do it knowing that it's probably going to be uploaded before it even reaches their house. They spend the money not because they want to hoard it all for themselves and not share, but they buy it because they genuinely want to hold the CD. So what's crazier: spending $40 on an album to upload for free, or spending $40 on an album that you know will be uploaded for free?

No offense but if everyone in the world thought like you we would have less musical diversity and less bands in every scene. You would enjoy none of the music you listen to currently because you found each and every one of those artists because someone took the CD that they bought for a lot of money and uploaded it on YouTube/Mediafire/Megaupload free of charge. Yes, there are positives and negatives but you just keep looking at everything in terms of monetary value as if it's of primary importance. It's not. Even the record companies are starting to catch on to this: that's why the big shots have their custom YouTube channels where they upload music videos by their artists for everyone to watch for free (after some ads of course). Even they understand that you have to give a little to get a little. It's the way most things in the world work.

The kanji he uses for "mogaki" is 椀, which is slang for "flappers" (like from the 1920's) and then the word iki was written meaning "freshness/stet" but what does that have to do with anything in the sentence?I also seem to notice that Japanese tends to repeat verbs twice in some sentences, especially Danchou when he has to fill out the syllables so I went and combined two of them and then tried to make some sort of coherent sentence that fits, sounds "NoGoD-dy", and still uses half the words in the sentence. I used the flapper connotation as to the motion of his wings and the rest of the sentence just...evaporated on the Notepad page. If anyone can provide a better translation I'll gladly take it but that's the best I could really do for those two lines. Damn obsfucation of kanji....

The SE is lame. Sounds like someone's having sex really far away.

Aventure sounds like EROS x JESUS, except instead of being in a swing club I feel like I'm in a sleazy speakeasy. The synthesized horns that are supposed to lend a jazzy quality to it miss the mark and sounds like the brass section is angry and trying to attack the listener with their G notes. Plus, they overpower everyone else...except Yuuki, who squeals his way through most of the song because he's trying to sound seductive but he doesn't. Other than that, you don't really hear anyone else. Here and there a guitar riff will surface and do something other than keep rhythm (which is supposed to be the job of the bass, which I barely hear and the drums which are remarkably unremarkable). It's Suzaku syndrome - you have talented guitarists doing next to nothing while the synthesized portions carry the entire melody. The guitars should be playing the melody of the horns, the bass should be playing the melody of the guitars, the drums should be doing a little more, the horns should be gone, and Yuuki needs to drop down an octave.

My overall score is a 4/10 and that's only because I feel generous. Lycaon is dead friends. If you haven't gotten to this realization before, now may be your time. And if you still like this...well you're not going to be swayed by anything I have to say anyway.

Alright so I'll bite the bullet and say that I don't know if Rayka wrote any the music. But what I DO know (and which is where a bit of my anger/disappointment comes in) is that he has composed better tunes in the past, which means that he can write music. And since he can compose, why he decided to settle for songs this mediocre is something I do not understand.

I agree. DIM had 17 tracks but that's because you count the SE's among them. Cut out the SE's and DIM only had 12 tracks. Even though TOXIC will have more singles they don't have the "space" to include SE's like they did on DIM (and if they did, they'd be included after the fact so it would be 18 tracks including SE's instead of 14 tracks including SE's...am I making sense?).

I still feel that there are way too many previously released songs on the album and that this would have been stronger had they not included the singles since I feel they were all pretty weak. TOXIC could be a much stronger album that way.

I knew I wouldn't like it but since I liked brodiaea a long time ago I decided to give it a chance just because.

And my god this was bad.

NuAGE is the single track and overall it's pretty unremarkable. It sounds like a metalcore song that tried to go poppy by cutting out all of the harder influence and replacing it with synthesizer, rapping and auto-tune. It didn't work. Rayka still can't sing and he seems to have gotten worse since he left Synside, which I didn't even think was possible. Even his harsh vocals are pretty bad. Then there was the repetitive synth which only take up space in the mix and adds nothing to the song, the very bland breakdown and the chug-chug-chug riffs that seem to be there only to bridge together parts of the song. They didn't even try. 1/5

ヒカルセカイ started out promising but by the it hit the chorus it was over. I will say that overall this song works much better than NuAGE. The synth isn't omnipresent and adds a shred of melody here, although the portions of the song without it sound much better. In this song, it seems like the band had some ideas: the attempt at tremolo picking in certain parts was nice, plus the group shouts remind you that there's other people other than Rayka in the band, plus there was a solo that while pretty unremarkable, is better than the breakdown that was in NuAGE. The problems with this song is that there's no hook, no memorable riff (I forget what the riffs sound like while I'm listening to them!) and the omnipresent synth that drowns everyone out. 2/5

Next, I also want to explain to certain visual bands that when you spell out an acronym the last letter is also supposed to have a dot! F.T.O, G.A.L.D, F.O.P.M, D.O.P.E...can anyone please remember the last dot? It brings out the punctuation Nazi in me.

Now, about D.O.P.E...it has the best integration of synth and riff on the whole single. That's it. I want to ask Rayka where his brodiaea style harsh vocals have gone, because this is unacceptable. They were better in Synside, and Synside was overprocessed to hell and back. The verses consist of something Rayka says heavily auto-tuned in Japanese plus "brah brah brah brah oooo". I also want to call shenanigans on the Rayka's vocal melody in the chorus because I could swear it was lifted out of another song although when you sound this bland it's hard not to. D.O.P.E also has another breakdown which for all intents and purposes is just as bad as the one in NuAGE, which makes me think that D.O.P.E is just "heavy NuAGE". No. 1/5.

Overall this gets a 2/5, which I still think is pretty high but the math doesn't lie. This is just really generic and there's nothing special going on at all. If Rayka knows what's good for him he'd team back up with Lin, KEI and Mahiro and reform brodiaea because at least that band put out some good tunes from time to time. I mean, look at Carcass! Listen to that! Better synth, a much better riff, better integration, no lame breakdown. Sure, Rayka is a little weaker on the projection side of things but it's not like he's any good and he's honestly not that much worse. I prefer him here than on Synside or REALies tbh but that's not the point. Everything is put together and nothing's thrown in because they needed to fill up time. Everything on this single sounds like a mish mash of things.

Listen to this too! An actual riff plus some drumming that stands out! And there's contrast between the verses and the opening riff that works much better than anything on this single! Plus the solo! That's how you do a solo, not that lame 8-bar thing on the last song (although I do appreciate the effort, I really do).

This is why I'm extremely hard on anything REALies puts out because I KNOW Rayka can compose better than this. He has before! Hell, even Synside's UNDER THE RIOT (which is still generic as fuck) was more together than D.O.P.E, and Rayka composed that himself! Listen to it! Non-imposing synth, a riff that's actually distinguishable, a slightly better usage of harsh vocals...where has all of this gone? Why isn't any of this present anywhere? I just don't get it at all.

REALies started on out the wrong foot with this single. Based off this single, the cynic in me says they won't be around too long so I wouldn't advise any of you to get attached. When it comes to Rayka, brodiaea 4eva. Sorry fans of REALies.

So a member or two on the forum have inquired about Touhou music (and doujin music in general) and one has even expressed interest in there being a thread that highlights discussion music. I want to gauge some interest from the rest of the forum though - if there are enough people out there that would actually care if I do something like this I'd start one up.

The ones that care about this album won't forget about it. Those that don't care about Para:noir wouldn't care about this album even if Diru wasn't being released the same day. Those trying to explore the VK scene that stumble across Para:noir aren't paying Diru much attention anyway.

tl;dr - I don't think Para:noir has anything to fear from the MOO album.

Hey Hakuei, I noticed all those bands are visual. Are you looking for visual recommendations specifically or just "anything goes, as long as it sounds similar"?

I don't like the new song but I don't hate it. Like someone on YouTube said (yes, a YT comment was accurate for once!) it doesn't have that DELUHI twist on it that their older songs have.

Also, as a completely unnecessary point, I loved everything before F[L]ASH:B[L]LACK or however it's spelled, not including that. Their existence in the scene was great because it showed that there were still bands that played visual music that had the drive to actually be good. Then their constant stream of releases burned DELUHI out. I'm going to be sad to see them go though but maybe Leda can form something new that's even better than them.

Well when you start the project officially just let me know. I want to see if I can be of any help too . I would like to fashion myself as an intermediate/advanced programmer in Java and C++ so I could whip something together using Eclipse and an AVD (and I could doubly present it as a project and get an A haha).
