I got into them in 2010, dead stock was a pretty good album, but they kinda been downhill since them. That said, their initial output (Renai, Hoshi no Miyako, play) is absolutely outstanding.  These days, haven't been really stoked about them as I have been in the past.

I actually really like all 5 of their first albums (Renai, Hoshi no Miyako, play, SENTIMENTAL MACCHIATO and hikari). They had been kinda meh for me since like 2010 or so, but I actually dig their newest album lol it is nothing outstanding, but it is a nice listen, especially when you do not go expecting a lot lmao

But yeah, even back in 2003/2004, when they were ~cult favs in the west, they never really seemed to have a big fanbase outside Japan (where their popularity was HUGE). like @Tokagesaid, I guess going pop early and not being br00tal enough for the west plays a big part in it.

i mean we can further prove this simply w/ the fact that even a band like Glay has kind of slipped into 'literally who?'-dom among western vk fans these days
