diryangrey got a reaction from platy in DIMLIM new single “離人” release
do you mind if i try to defend Retsu's guitar?
i LOVE gretsch, they're my fav aside from fender, but compared to fender are so uncommon to see in vkei - yutori from pentagon plays deusenbergs which are pretty similar but that's usually the closest i've seen
i have no idea if this track was actually recorded on that guitar or not but the solo makes me think it was - their pickups are like this middle ground between the crisp bubbliness of fenders' & 'heavier' humbuckers but without that watery mid-boosted PRS sound. it's pretty muddy & unclear
& regardless of all that, totally personal taste but i like the contrast of small dude / tight unaccessorized clothes w/ the giant-ass guady guitar that'd be no one's first association w/ a darker styled band. + the white guitar / black clothes makes that contrast seem more purposeful.
sorry for the huge answer but i love dumb things like this - bands that fuck w/ what's expected in smaller ways that almost seem accidental

Also, that guitar has the same colour scheme as Sho, so it's not THAT much out of place plus, Gretsch guitars have one of the best clean tones out there.

oh, i totally forgot about avelcain cuz i love both eve's works and avelcain concept so i feel completely comfortable with listening to the band.

...does this mean i'm the only person who thinks Ganges & Namaatatakai Ame are by far the best songs they've ever done

diryangrey reacted to nomemorial in DIMLIM
I'm really shocked that this thread isn't blowing up around CHEDOARA. I listened for the first time this morning and I'm honestly blown away! There's a similarity to Vulgar/WTD-era Diru in the overall feel of the record, but all wrapped up in this interesting proggy-djent package that I think a lot of other bands don't execute nearly as well. I haven't listened to the members' prior bands, but I love this record so far.

diryangrey reacted to 123Sandman321 in DEZERT new album, "TODAY" release
Exactly my feelings on the album. It's quite pleasant, well-executed and easy to listen to for a chill afternoon. Which is entirely what I don't look for in a DEZERT album...

diryangrey reacted to The Moon in Kaya new single, "Monday Monday" release
kaya has been from the jump an artist who loves club/dance/pop music with occasional dalliances in other genres: her VERY FIRST SINGLE, kaleidoscope, fell into this vein.
why the fuck are y'all so salty when kaya has said MULTIPLE TIMES that she intends to further explore darker sounds with schwarz stein? that side of kaya ain't going away.
the level of ignorance in this thread is fucking ridiculous.
FURTHERMORE, while a lot of RPDR queens make campy music, many do not, so i find fault with you equating them all together. ginger minj, jinx monsoon, shea coulee, aja, trixie mattel etc, make "serious music", not unlike kaya. drag music is the closest thing to vk in the west & TBH these queens r much more authentic than a bunch of misshapen scandivanian assholes screaming in broken japanese.

diryangrey reacted to frayed in ex-MEJIBRAY members new project, "8P-SB" has formed
I’m just glad this black listing doesn’t extend to Tower Records for events, which I mean I hoped for as much since it’s not exclusively a vkei store. Here’s hoping for more of those being announced in the future.
As much as I was thrown off initially, I’m less jarred now and I still plan to see them. I wasn’t feeling Mejibray until I saw them live, so I think in my case it’s only fair to give them a proper shot.

diryangrey got a reaction from Himeaimichu in Performance advice
first of all congrats on going on stage, that's legit - & shoutout to mea, i love that band too.
kinda going off what Aimi said, if you're not opposed to it try recording yourself at home, as you practice as if you were performing. don't worry too much about quality like just use a webcam or an iphone sat in a corner, just decent enough quality you can make out how you sound & look
& i don't mean to assume your knowledge here so apologies if this is something you're already aware of, but bc you say roumaji - might be worth checking your pronunciation to make sure you're getting it right, bc even though japanese follows its pronunciation rules pretty tightly & doesn't do weird shit like english (like how read & read are read differently) - learning only the roumaji & speaking it exactly as you would an english word written w/ those letters isn't always correct

diryangrey got a reaction from Reiko in Shit N00b Vkei Fans Say
this is really just a drag @ myself but back in middleschool when i was first getting into vk, i accidentally followed a roleplay-blog of Nightmare's Hitsugi, somehow thinking it was the real thing.
I guess i was just totally ready to accept hitsu spoke fluent english and also had the exact personality of a teenage girl?
Also there was a good chunk of time when i was convinced that line in L'Arc~en~Ciel's Taste of Love was "You treat me like a DUCK"

diryangrey got a reaction from zaa_zaa in your most special Vk live occurences
i saw that one 7+hr live Royz did where they played every one of their songs, so i've basically accepted my life peaked at that point
only other thing i can kinda brag about; my first live i ever saw was Naitomea when they left Japan for the second time in their career to play a con that was 4hrs from my house - i'll never in my life be that lucky again .-.

diryangrey reacted to Kira_Uchiha in Recording on a budget.
I'd recommend saving up for a brand new SM57 because of the better build quality. The Pyle PDMIC 78 really seems like a good alternative but one big problem is that this mic is "unbalanced", meaning it's extremely prone to electrical interference. At best you'd get a small hum noise, at worst the sound you get might be unusable.
And also you can mix your guitars in FL Studio, no problems there.
