Kagrra was the best VK band ever, and an amazing vocalist. However, I didn't know the man personally so I got over his death in a minute or so.

Shame we'll never get more Kagrra and that the people involved seem to have forgotten have to get involved in good music. But whatever. That's life.

  2. can anyone recommend me some good blogs to download or find underground post-punk and black metal releases? i recommend these two: https://stenchofthedeath.blogspot.com/search/label/black metal , https://www.cvltnation.com/

Haven't used metalarea.org in a long time, but it used to be excellent. If you wanted a demo from1987 that was released in 7 copies, that was the place to find it.

If you don't mind torrents, then metal-tracker.com is really good. Not only black metal, but it's very good for black metal as well as most other metal sub genres. As people who upload have to add their own genre the genre tags might come as cross as a bit messy, but it works. This, metalarea and a few dead black metal blogspots used to be my go-to's for years until I more or less stopped downloading music a few years ago.

  3. I showed Dir's "Cage" to a friend to isn't remotely aware of VK or even J-rock, and he said "Wow, this sounds like Iron Maiden".

VK always sounded very unique to my ear. But in the last year, since

I was not very fond of the (Western) classics of punk, grunge, gothic, metal, and their respective subgenres and "post" scenes, although I always knew that theorically VK made itself over Western artist, the gap between VK and Western artists came up as much shorter than I tought, with only few elements of it (musical, visual, lyrical, performatic) keeping actually "unique".

In the case of "Cage", since I haven't heard much from Iron Maiden, what can you say about what my friend said? Are you agree with him?

  4. It's 2018. It's easy to make a good sounding record with drum programming, amp-sims, getting good quality mics being easier, etc.

With all this... why in the hell does Starwave's production still sound like utter crap?

It's so easy to make a good sounding record. Just put in a good amp-sim, get some good drum samples, recording vocals is not that hard. At this point, I'm convinced Kiwamu purposefully removes the bass and midrange.

  5. Someone please tell Netflix that we already have Saintia Sho and we don't need Shun becoming officially a girl.

Again, Netflix had NOTHING to do with the actual content of Death Note. They purchase the rights to movies and produce them (aka, give money for the creators to use), but they do not decide on the content within the movies and series. Changing the skin color of the characters, their sex, the plot or whatever is all up to the actual creators of the shows and movies, not Netflix. Netflix do not mess around with the creative process of the creation of films and series. It's all up to the creators involved. This also why Netflix is getting bigger and bigger in a ridiculously high tempo, and are able to attract so many big names, as well as new, unknown people.

If you're an indie film maker and manage to get the attention of Netflix, you'll be able to fulfill your vision of a film as you get more money than you ever could dream of as an indie film maker, and you'll get a creative freedom that you won't get anywhere else.

Same goes for big name directors. Where they for the major studios will have to think about the income and what the film can earn, at Netflix they can make the film NC-17 if they feel like, and Netflix won't mind. Because it's not up to them, as they don't get involved in the creative process of the film.

I wrote some posts about this in the Cowboy Bebop live action thread if you're interested in knowing more.

tl;dr: Netflix just doesn't get involved when it comes to creativity. It's that simple.

Yes, someone tell Netflix that. Because as we all know it's Netflix who're deciding upon this, not the actual creators of the series. You know, people like Eugene Son who's the writer and Yoshiharu Ashino who's directing.

RDR is one of the most boring games I've ever played. Not quite as boring as Assassin's Creed, but not too far away tbh. I'm a big, big fan of westerns and especially spaghetti westerns, so I do actually love the concept and atmosphere in the game. But the game play itself makes it into a massive snoozefest. Doesn't help that it's among the easiest games I've ever played either.

  14. So I'm seeing Metallica next month, and I have no idea what to expect.

  15. I wish I was part of anything related to music professionally, cuz music is the only thing that I care or that makes me feel alive.

You can also produce music without knowing how to play anything. I have three projects going on at the moment (metal/punk/surf/rock/rap with a friend, electronica and rap), and I can't play shit. Hell, I can barely use a computer. But that's not a big problem in 2018. For the stuff requiring actual instruments I just write riffs on my computer (using guitar pro), add bass/drums/synth/whatever in the program and get people I know to record it for me/us.

Very easy. So anyone can become a musician in 2018. Not everyone can live off their music as that requires both skills and plenty, plenty luck, but everyone can have it as a hobby.

You don't really need music lessons to become a decent musician tho. For some it might be easier with help, but you can just as well just play by yourself and learn along in your bedroom. Aren't musicians like David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Frank Zappa, Dave Grohl and so on self-thought? And some of these are among the most impressive musicians the world has ever seen.

If you can't afford lessons, then just buy an instrument and learn how to play by yourself.

Isn't the majority of big horror movies marketed as "the scariest horror film ever" nowadays? It's so pathetic and annoying tbh. A really weak way to sell a film, but stupid people still gets fooled by it.

Not seen it, but very much looking forward to it. Looks neat.
