Everything was already said about this. But what i want to add to the discussion are my subjective observations. I have the feel with social media hubs slowly replacing regular decentralized online communities, message boards and forums there is a change in the way fandoms communicate and behave. My feeling is that especially the younger generations don't "get" forum culture and therefore misunderstand what's being said here.

You see it quite often that fans on social media are foaming from anger because "someone said something offensive about my fave on some forum", when the thing that was said was in jest and not serious. Internet humour in general has changed a lot. There are a lot of jokes, memes and phrases I wouldn't post on twitter, because I know for 100% that someone will take it out of context and send their brigade after me.

Now VK fandom was always very emotionally driven… that's why i usually tended to avoid fandom spaces, because I did not care about seeing people shitting on each other for liking one band more than the other. There was so much drama, fake friendships and backstabbing in the community, it was tiresome. Many VK fans are certainly very opinionated about anything and things can rub them the wrong way easily. And there was always the issue that some people's opinion weighted more than others' and they thought they had exclusive rights to brag about others, but screamed bloody murder when others did the same.

My impression too is that the people who stuck around the longest became more "chill". Also reddit… is a pretty toxic and one-sided hell hole.

People in the thread don't hate dimlim, we want them to succeed because they showed some of the strongest potential we'd seen around in a stale scene.

People are salty because dimlim are shooting themselves in the foot and fucking up what could've been fantastic for fans, the band and vk.

That's just not a good look though.  Almost their entire fanbase before MISC was made up of vk fans and metal fans, so for them to purposefully shut them out isn't really a good move imo.  No one said they had to keep being visual kei, and if they just stopped dressing up and dropped the album I don't think anyone would have had a big problem.  But Retsu renouncing vk and blocking old fans and the entire lyrical concept of MISC seeming like a jab at people who didn't like their stylistic change - well that's a good way to get people to stop caring about your band.  Not to mention that the actual releasing of MISC was handled very badly with it being delayed several times, having confusing info on whether it was going to be digital only or physical, nearly no previews, and then Retsu with his "essence" and anti piracy antics at that time...  I think they effectively managed to push away a good proportion of their old fanbase with all that.

They might be getting some positive attention outside of Japan, and they seem to have prioritized that over Japanese fans anyway considering their international bookings and Retsu doing that one interview video in English lol, but COVID put a stop to those shows so what are they doing for their new fans now?  They released Kidoairaku on streaming services which is nice and all, but even their plans for an international merch store haven't quite worked out.  I get that this year has been really tough but I just question where they're going to get the money to keep going with this band.  They seem really inactive at the moment and that's usually not a good sign - even in these times.

Uhm, you missed the part they sold out their show in Brazil and the other SA shows were close? It's not like Covid forced them to postpone all plans including their show at Shibuya Womb. They haven't played any song from MISC live yet. Anyway music is subjective and MISC has their most technical playing and showcases Sho's amazing clean vocals and range.

Ryuya was a replaceable rhythm guitarist (support guitarist or backtracked 2nd guitars) that has no song writing credit, losing Taishi was a bigger lost but he had health issues and retired. While I do think they need to recruit a bassist, a female one would be better as there are a lot of talented female session bassist in Japan.

I don't think anyone here is aware, DIMLIM was 2nd place in the band division of a competition by Tunecore Japan and sponsored by PayNoah with Tom Smith of JPU records as one of the guest judges. From my understanding, the prize is the sponsor will pay some of the fee's and gives a right to the band to perform in a venue in the UK, the grand winner though gets an all expense paid live performance in the UK that will be awarded hopefully next year.

So how is it a downward spiral when the band is getting positive attention outside Japan? MISC is a great album and they finally  shed their D.I.D and Diru clone tag and Sho stopped trying to be Kyo 2.0.

Retsu leaving Dimlim equals to the band disbanding and a high possibility Sho retires from music. Reading their JaMe interview everyone is into the new music of MISC and I think Sho even had a hand in giving Retsu songwriting ideas and Hiroshi,I read somewhere wanted to sound like new Dezert and he got his wish somewhat. But from that interview, growls and breakdowns will one day comeback if they feel it's time to bring it back.

Hahaha if only this happened that'd be amazing. Tbh it would probably do the band a favour if Retsu left, he seems to be getting all gassed up on "sadboi" music atm and seems to change what he likes all the time. Like I remember a live stream with him and Ryuya on instagram where he was blasting like Gojira in the background all the way through. Then later on insta questions said he "doesn't listen to that type of music anymore", then MISC happened and due to lack of activity it makes me wonder if he's losing interest in the rock/metal stuff completely. So who knows wtf is going to happen from here. Announcing a disbandment would probably make most sense, before DIMLIM turns into a sadboi rap trio. Though that could be lels....

On this thread I wanna share with you guys my thoughts and personal experience with a community, I am part of. Namely furries.
I've discovered and joined the furry fandom in 2009/10, when I was in early high school. What has drawn me into it was the amazing art, cute fursuits and conventions/gatherings with very a friendly atmosphere. But let's start with my personal history. I'm gonna try to keep it brief.

Ever since I was a kid, there was a lot of interest and appeal to me in cartoon animal characters. Growing up with cartoons such as Looney Tunes, Animaniacs and a lot of Disney Dreamworks and Don Bluth movies contributed to that a lot. Many cartoon characters, I've had a crush on were anthropomorphic animals. This all happened when the Internet wasn't nearly as popular as then. When I've accidently found DeviantArt around 2009, I've discovered a lot of gorgeous furry and non-furry art, which not only encouraged me to start drawing, but made me realize there I wasn't the only one taking interest in that particular theme

The major aspect of furry fandom, I take part in is creating art, which brought me here in my first place. I've made a separate thread on MH with my art BTW  Back of the topic majority of furries, depict their walking and talking animal version of an alter-ego called "a fursona", giving them a lot of personal traits. I.e. mine is a long haired red fox named Kentaro, design inspired by Japanese mythology, heavy metal and 80s/early 90s visual kei. Also the name is derived from Gargoyle guitarist. The art themes can range from modern world to fantasy, ancient times to cyberpunk, etc. Although just a simple picture of their fursonas is prefered. I also was an art vendor at Dealers Den at Polish furry con called Gdakon 2019, and this is what most of us were drawing. Another popular thing are fursuits, which is basically cosplay of a furry characters. If professionally done they can be incredibly cute and huggable  Although fursuits may seem very common at first, only 15-20% of furries own a fursuit. Mostly due to price, which is caused by efforts and material buying. Now, I don't have a fursuit yet, but plan to get one in the future 😄

Aside what I've mentioned, I've personally felt very welcome in the fandom, since it's very accepting towards LGBTQ+ or people with Autism Spectrum. Both make large portion of the fandom. Also furries raised and donated a lot of money for animal shelters and as a help for Australia after the recent bushfires. But just like with any other community there is a dark side of it. The most common is over-sexualization. While I see furry porn as a follow to rule 34, no different than hentai, I strongly believe it shouldn't be a face of the fandom by any means. Something that people need to keep to themselves, unless asked for on nsfw social media accounts. Other awful parts, included cases of animal abuse, destruction of the property or creepiness in chats and conventions  Now, those aren't at all inherent to the fandom, just being a piece of s**t. Luckily I witnessed people who commited such thing were being ostracized from the fandom.

To put it up, yes, it is weird and unusual to a lot of people for understandable reasons, it has it's problems to fix, but that still doesn't prevent from following basic decency. Regardless everything, I have a lot to thanks to the furry culture for shaping me and it'll stay close to my heart forever ❤️

Maybe anyone else on MH is a furry as well?
If you have any questions or something to discuss, I'll gladly answer  Negative points are welcome too, just keep it civil.

How about moving the threads with dead links to the request section? Or alternatively adding a tag signifying it as dead (like "needs re-up" or sth).

Now, I realize there are 386 pages in the subforum and that's only vk, but I'm willing to offer my time to wade through that if anyone thinks it'd be useful at all.
After one initial look through, I think it could be done only to the threads where someone is requesting a re-up.

I know it seems like a massive amount of work just to assuage the frustration of finally finding some release only to realize the thing is dead, but I thought I'd put it out there and see what people think.
