Their first live will be on 2018.09.21 at 新宿clubSCIENCE.

As you can see from the flyer, they already play lives before that ;) Im also sure they played some lives early last year with BUK BUK (always at 新宿clubSCIENCE, lol). I think the date is their "restart" or "formal start" (as written on the flyer)

*Edit: After checking the vocalist twitter, i think they started as a session band that changed its name to MIDGARD around June/July 2017 that covered songs from e.g. アヲイ, lynch., DEZERT etc. and eventuelly playing own songs.

Since he also had some pictures where he cosplayed Cloud from Final Fantasy, i guess the bands name might be a reference to the city of FF7, Midgar?

  2. I've seen their vocalist shred cool stuff on guitar at their live before but not play guitar for full songs like in the DVD trailer. With the lightning and their movements they look like some random poppy J-Rock band at some points (if you turn off the sound).

Pretty cool cover tho imo. Still was suprised they anounced this album and not the long overdue disbanding.

Nothing’s gonna touch their untitled album

That intro song/riff! One of my favorite vk album starters! Nothings gonna beat that (even tho its the same as in DAMY's 言訳。which was released earlier, but my theory is DEZERT Senpai showed DAMY's bassist this riff and then thought they want to have it aswell, lol).

  3. 0.1g was on of the worst bands i've seen live, totally chaotic and no clear sound/melody/anything hearable at their live, their vocalist couldnt sing at all and was just all yakuza/chimpira talking and besides was the most ugly member of any band i've seen live so far. That wouldnt have shocked me but what did was when he jumped down and attacked one girl in the audience after insulting her verbally from the stage. The other members had no stage presence whatsoever wearing just training suits and i thought it was a solo project with support members.

I cant believe how this band has any fans at all besides 14 year old girls that love the insulting/bad boy image.

  4. While i didnt like だるまさん at first listen, i tried to imagine how killer these drums would sounds live and think this is probl. a song thats amazing when you're in the audience.

Btw 2nd reminded me so much of the PV for 我、在ルベキ場所 from MUCC somehow (video not the song itself).

Lets see where they will go after this first album! Its the most crucial time for any band IMO. Will it be a new direction or same of the old stuff?

  5. Both songs are on the usual enjoyable level. The problem is they shocked/suprised everyone after the noone cared for 食べたい with お邪魔します, which everyone and their grandmother loved (i cant repeat often enough how everyone was throwing the 食べたい single at you for 100yen but after お邪魔します its suddenly worth 10k+yen). After that they continued mostly on the same high quality level but we will probably never get such a suprise anymore from them.

Suprised anyone is suprised by 2nd songs lyrics. Exactly what i expected from them, i like it.

    SHEDIA and KRAD have different atmospheres, KRAD's music is WAAAY darker and different imo. SHEDIA had more upbeat songs, and KRAD has more Dir en grey/D'espa/Gaze influences. Their MV does sound like it would be a SHEDIA song though, I agree with that. Abyss doesn't sound like it would be in SHEDIA though, the other two songs on it (Manjushage and Grief of microorganisms) is quite dark and KRAD-esque, and abyss itself has a lot of death voice and screaming, the entire song is headbanging except the chorus ;o;

I think you are a live follower of KRAD so you can probably judge better than me. I just felt they always had a lot of different style songs IMO, e.g. they have heavy atmospheric mid temp songs like 傀儡遊ビ and TwiLight forever (two of my all time vk favorites) or Dead bouquet, their heavy/fast songs, straight rock songs like 餌喰 with those riffs everyone heard from 100 other bands already (cool but wouldnt fit their concept at all?) and also【D】Add... that doesnt fit to anything they've done. And they've released these all over the time, so constantly having "different" styles. 曼珠沙華 from their new single sounds straight from releases 2-3 years ago, just more polished. The only time i felt a change in concept was maybe from listening to SHEDIA and then Dead bouquet from DEEP MORE DEEP #3 the first time (i felt they wanted a more "atmospheric" sound in KRAD than in SHEDIA). But with the release of their first single and so on i felt "ah its just an evolution of SHEDIA".

But again, if you follow KRAD live for some years you can probably judge better than me the overall band concept since i know CD/bandpictures dont reflect the real atmosphere of the band. I hope to catch them live this or next year (if they dont break up before, lol) and can see for myself:)

their "new concept" seems like they are trying to get more fans but, most of us became fans from their darker and heavier music, I don't think people are going to become fans of the band from this one song

Unfortunatly so far I havent seen KRAD live, but have seen SHEDIA live and was a fan since the first hour and since i think KRAD is just SHEDIA2.0 i think there is no "new concept" at least song wise (dont know for the show they put up live). Song still sounds like a more polished version of SHEDIA songs to me. Same with the last single.

  8. So EXIST is the song with the an illusion guitar effect/riff this time. Always found it annoying that they reused the amazing riff/sound from their best song in other songs like All this I'll give you, LIE, EVIDENCE intro, KALEIDO, ..

But really looking forward after the samples! Strongly disliked the PV track, so this was a nice suprise, at least half of the samples sound great! Can feel a few filler songs again, but seems they wanted to have 13 songs to fit the title.. I also feel they are stronger with mid tempo/slower songs these days. Never been to their live so maybe the new fast/heavy ones are good live but on CD they are often boring/sound too similar for me..

  9. Interesting topic! Your ideas seem good for old/disbanded bands i guess since its otherwise really difficult to determine how their popularity was.

What's overseas popular doesn't mean it's popular in Japan.

Also sometimes bands throw out CD releases even if they are not that popular.

Same goes for appearing in venues. Some bandman have pretty good connections or just a bag full of money.

I doubt it's pretty much not really possible to know a band popularity.

Unless you know how many people always attent a bands live.

livehouse capacity is a thing but only for one-man gigs.

2-man 3-man gigs.. well maybe the other band is more popular.

And then still... how many people went? was it full? half full? even more less?

    And since you wrote

    for me results in

    • Number of releases which vkgy users own. (Anyone with a vkgy account can add releases to their collection to make this stat more accurate!)
    • Number of releases which vkgy users want.

From my experience going to lives:

Capacity of livehouses at which they play? Difficult as described by BrenGun

Capacity of livehouses at which they hold oneman lives? Difficult as described by BrenGun; If a band does "free" oneman its also a very bad sign IMO

Number of sponsored/oneman lives held? No

Number of CDs released? Definitly no; budget =/= popularity

    >Number of tanuki threads?< If positively, lol

    >Price of releases at second-hand stores?< If the band is still active (i often see massive price dumpings the second disband is announced/foreshadowed)

Length of activity period? E.g. DANGER☆GANG is active, idk 15 years? When i saw them at an event they had 2 fans that seemed to be their kids or something playing infront of the stage.

    Adding:

    - Articles in visual kei related magazines (the vocalist of kuroyuritokage once explained at a oneman i went how he noticed their popularity decreased (beside obvious smaller audiences -> and therefore smaller livehouses (here is a pro argument for the live house discussion, lol)) that magazines stopped to feature them).

The biggest problem: I often feel its also not a band that is famous but a member of a certain band. You can see this when whatever i thought noname session has the venue filled cause the girls love member xyz and some what i thought would be big bands had everyone leaving. You can easily find out by looking at the number of twitter followers a certain band member has and compare it to the other members of the same band.

I somehow was reminded of Saki's XII-Destructive Agent of JAP reading this thread :D With faked/photoshopped audience pictures, randomly calling themselves major, etc. you cant believe what you read online and need to see yourself.

Actually japanese bangyas are hating them a lot lol

They're famous for having their songs composed by ghost-songwriters and for not even being able to make an original look lol

I always had the impression that many bands have their songs ghost-written so that noone cares about that. But maybe if they hate the band for whatever reason that just adds as another point to insult them?

Actually yes. MEJIBRAY Company president is rumored to be from Yakuza and he's one of the big bosses of Visual Kei industry now.

Since Koichi and Tzk apparently had some problems with him (remember Koichi stop playing the bass and showing his middle finger in direction of their boss in the end of their concert), yes, they're in blacklist and probably can't do a Visual Kei band anymore. That's what this song is about.

On yesterday concert they said that CreatO was the only live house that let they play.

Thanks for the insight infos you share here:tw_heart:

Always loved the rumors of the connection betwen Yakuza and VK

It's just so weird how >insert any basic vk bandmen< would sing so many emotional songs with deep af lyrics and then churn out something this soulless.

My problem with vk in general after seeing many lives over the last years. There is the image of a bandmember that is created and there is the real bandmember that shins through when you talk to them/listen to the MC live.

Always shocked how many "dark", "depressive" or "heavy" bands are just in fact cheerful guys that love pop music and probably play heavy music because its "cool".

If im not totally mistaken... i think the lady on the right is the owner/staff of a really small shop for vk fashion on Takeshita Street in Harajuku? (the shop is basically just a stairs down and a corner at its end, maybe someone knows which one i talk about?)

She kept telling me cheeky about how she knows this and that guy (mostly from 90's/00's more famous bands) and underlined her stories with pictures/backstage passes that were plastered on the store walls (a lot Dir en grey).

Honestly, I'm not. They have like 10 fans (in Tokyo at least)

I can confirm from the one time i saw them.

They're one of those bands totally different live than on CD.

    Not suprised.

Hardly mysterious and no, this isn't a joke, this is L's new band, it was announced at The 3rd Birthday's last live last month. The fans received the DVD with this new logo printed on it.

Thought so, thanks for confirming! Watching the last balalaika lives the one red glove, the suit, the masks, the atmosphere everything pointed towards L. Suprised noonelse here seemed to notice? Really glad he will be back!!

Edit: In cases like this I miss Trombe who could give us the whole lineup of the band without it being posted anywhere (and before the members even knew themselves??)

  16. Well, first of all im glad the production isn't utter shit like the entire COCKROACH. discography was. Also SO glad that his use of autotune isnt THAT obvious anymore and horrible sounding like in COCKROACH.

Second, i couldnt stop thinking about Taros twitter post when listening to the samples:

"Im doing vk, but what i have no idea what is popular in vk nowadays. Because i dont listen to vk i have no idea. Well, whatever."

I wonder why he is even doing vk cause he seemed to love the more hardcore/metalcore style. To me they sound somehwat like they dont know what they want to do. Lets see how they develop, if not disband quickly they might develop their style and sound better?

I like both. Better than the B-sides on the last one

First one sounds "different" but I counted 2-3 guitar riffs already in 教えて that are already in other songs of them, maybe even more if i listen more closely :\ Its just the same formula again... Still good tho!
