Sounds fantastic, what a great main riff

Heard the bland chorus riff somewhere before, just adding 1-2 power chords between the main notes. Dont remember now what song, maybe a the GazettE one or something.

Just as their last two new songs, uninspired and boring.

But, Miyako's look and his guitar:tw_love:

I still firmly hold to the belief that that one Virgin Blues cover is one of the best things Shinjuku Gewalt ever did, to the point that it, along with Sayonara Tent could well serve as a 'signature song' to illustrate their overall sound/aesthetic.  Anyone else with me on this one?

Agree. The one time i saw them, they started the live with it and everyone in the audience was like marching in line. It felt like going to war, amazing.

Anyone know what is the original? Found this and this

I also wonder if anyone knows all the originals behind each song? I could find:

    03. プラスチックムーン (i think the band in the video is covering another older band for which i cant find a video)

    06. 虹とスニーカーの頃 (チューリップ)

    07. アストロロボナナのテーマ (uses effects from this game?)

    09. 世情

  3. Easiest to listen for ゲバルト newcomers i would say the whole 2009's 青年の主張 single ("Rock track", "Dance track" (as stated on the CD lol))

or just the perfection that is their 1998's 改造テープ, which features a lot of "cover" songs in a bleep fashion (e.g. バージンブルース).

Personally, i never liked 公式エミュレータ (Koushiki emulator) or 実録歌謡大全 (Jitsuroku kayou taizen) and therefore not 2011's CD音源集. They have a lot of distr. CDs in between, which might be difficult to find...check one of these:

    8時だヨ!全員集合!!(アレフガルド公演Ver.1.0.2)

Isn't this just one of the best songs you ever heard? Yes? Another one here (remix tho).

    Others:

    COSMO-SHIKI - 2010.06.14 VIOLATOR (05. 君の太陽)

    V.A. - 2002.05.24 TOGETOGETOKAGE・トゲトゲトカゲー (新宿ゲバルト, Uma, etc.)

V.A. - 2004.10.21 駄喰 (新宿ゲバルト members solo stuff included)

    V.A. - 2008.07.09 東京ゲリラ (trailer)

Another relatively new, vaguely angura-ish band is 乙女国家 (Otomekokka). As far as I know, they're made up out of members from Elektel-shiki and Hitotsume.

    Also don't forget ex-レインマン (Rainman) ;)

The other two guys from said レインマン went also to a new band チョコレエトホリツク (Chocolat holic). They have one song which sounds like early レインマン but also reminded me of ヒトツメ (Hitotsume). So, if these bands can be considered Angura, this would be another new one. But i dont know if they are still active.

they don't really have the proper 'connections' within the scene (ie they don't really seem to play alongside the 'established' bands in the scene all that much) or they have the music/lyrics but the aesthetic doesn't really fit lol

I think it's really hard what categorizes correctly, so i like this discussion. For example, the live of ゲバ i mentioned, they play with two totally different acts: ヒロネちゃん and 浜崎容子. Often there can be totally different bands playing together, seemingly totally random.

新宿ゲバルト(Shinjuku Gewalt): Active? Released at least one official single last year after what felt like ages. Who knows what they're up to lmao

I saw them "live" last year. Besides being one of the most dissapointing and worst lives i've ever been at, there were quite a lot of people compared to other lives. 新宿LOFT isn't a big live house but it was packed, and everyone obviously only came for ゲバルト. Some fans looked like in their late 30's or even older but also a lot of chubby teenage girls cheering for those 2 otaku oldies on stage, talking random things like "Uhm, hi, uhm, yes" for 15 minutes between playback songs, like they're some super cute idols or something.

They had the single you mentioned but also a lot of other merchandise that seemed to sell well, so i felt they still have it going after all these years?

The hype around them online is so over the top, its amazing. And i do love to listen to many of their songs on CD, but their actual live, lmao.

    Swastika-kei tho?

I just dont get it why people still seem to get irritated/point out a swastika when they see it in connection with vk while you see it on every map and around every 3rd corner or so in Japan.

"Oh one dude has a Run DMC on his pants, they must be "hiphop-kei" "Run DMC bijura metarurap" "RUNデトロイト・メタル・シティ-系""

  7. As a person who happened to see 0.1gの誤算 live at an event...

Recommended to people who dont care how shitty the band sounds live and the band members act like DQN/チンピラ/small-time yakuza (or is that what the Yandere description meant?) and possibly be physically attacked. Nothing cute and definitly nothing innocent about them.

  8. How are they doing lately?

I always feel they are one of the most underated bands i've ever seen in V系.

Im not even a huge fan of them - but i think objectively they are one of the most skilled musicians in their genre, constantly putting out flawless releases, great live shows.. why they all just have around 5k twitter followers?

  9. Listen to the new mini the disbanding becomes really more of a shame. Those rerecording are really good.

New version of 秋入梅 reminds me of some of those early/mid 00's jazzy eroguro songs like when ムック or メリー used to be good.

The single is also better than the samples made me think.

miyoshi is talented though, he needs to go on his own and make some massive grieva tier old school band because he was the only one (i think) who was an actual old school vk fan.

What makes you think so? Nearly all songs were written by 孝浩.

But i do support the idea of the label/staff/management being a big reason for the disbanding. Looking at the OHP from RINrecords i see some bigger band/solo names showing up, maybe they weren't ready yet and wanted to take a step back?

But I also do think we will see the members soon again. Definitly 三好健 and 孝浩.

  10. Expected this sooner or later.
Their first mini was amazing for me (while obviously bad produced and often crappy - it still had its charme).
Recording quality improved with the singles, vocals didnt, songs started to sound boring, no big loss in the end.

Just thought they wait until tour is finished and they notice they didnt go anywhere with their 2 singles and then decide to disband.

They were one of those bands with the online image of their atmosphere (another DEZERT etc.) differing a lot on how they were in reality/live.

ain't the first, fourth and last track new?

True :D But only first and last as far as i know.

秋入梅 was a live distr. I didnt like the song at first/was really dissapointed when i listened to it, its some jazzy like song. Maybe the rerecording will sound better, instrumental sound is much better/more jazzy in the sample. The live distr. was kinda bad recording.

  12. While everyones busy with their side projects Toshiya is dating a talent/newscaster?

    【フライデー】皆藤愛子の彼氏は『DIR EN GREY』のToshiya(トシヤ)と判明か

While i dont fully understand how that is a problem, in japan it seems a "scandal".

Funny how the japanese see the news: the famous person here is the talent 皆藤愛子, the guy is just some random guy from a band called DIR EN GREY. Other news site write "they are a band with a sound like Babymetal, etc." :D But seems the talent was a former Dir bangya?

lmao you're literally sitting here implying people's opinions aren't credible because they aren't ~part of the scene~ and you don't seem to understand why they're getting salty with you?

More like "you saw a photoshopped picture of ugly middleaged men and heard a CD written by ghost writers/producer and played by session musicians". Why you call the band "amazing"? Many people just have wrong images of bands and people that have seen them question their opinion. Maybe we shouldnt say "oh your opinion is irrelevant" rather than "you should see them live, they are better/worse/totally different than on CD". I've seen discussions here where people discuss certain band members look on basis of twitter pictures, weather he looks good or plastic surgery etc. I mean, when you meet the person irl you notice "how could people ever think this or that about him"? Yes, because they just read the twitter/blog posts or saw altered pictures and made ridicioulus speculations based on those.

Of course you can have your opinion in your/(our) fantasy world on here, but as ryuhime said, in the big scheme it does not matter. But this probably applies to most things internet forums.

But for the band as actual real people, your opinion is completely irrelevant. The opinion of the bangya that goe to the live and buy their merch is the thing they care for.

Whether buying their ticket and seeing them live or buying their stuff, that money IS what keeps the band going.  I don't think the band really would care if 5 people didn't show up to a show, but 5 people bought their DVD, CDs, posters, etc. at the same value as the ticket.  Also, some people aren't able to make it out to a show (small venue, tickes sold out. Work schedule conflicts, etc, etc) or can't even get to be in Japan to see these bands. Their opinion might not matter to you, but it does matter. But I'm sure you've seen EVERY band live before you decided to criticize them or like them, right?

Well, i dont know what size of band we are talking about. But i would say 90% of the bands discussed here have no idea/dont care if their CDs are bought overseas. Their income comes mostly from tickets/merchandise (Cheki, cheki, cheki)..

Also, surely everyone can write band xy sucks or xy is so amazing, while their bandpicture is pure photoshop, their CD recording is done by session musicians, writing by ghostwriters, etc. The oversea fans then are critizising something totally different from the actual band. But well, thats how it is. I actually dont want to sound like some elitism shit here, just raise awarness maybe, idk. Everyone critize/like/hate how they want, when you visit the actual live you notice how it doesnt matter.

I'm saying just because you haven't see a band perform live, it doesn't mean you can't criticize them. Studio albums are indicative of an artist's musical skill and songwriting capabilities. If a band has five albums and I only like one of them, I think it's fair to say that I don't like the band's music. Seeing them live won't change anything.

I would say that especially in vk, studio albums say NOTHING, really NOTHING about the band. I've seen so many bands that were great on CD utterly bad live to the point that they could not play the most easiest riffs live. Others that i did not like on CD had amazing shows with great onstage personality. (DVD/Bluray lives dont matter to "have seen a band live" IMO).

Its true that oversea fans can mostly only critize on CD sound, photoshop images, DVD, PV, etc. but its cool to see that the awarness of how bad most bands are increases due to more oversea people visiting lives in japan/more japanese people writing on here. Maybe more and more people that dont then will understand how unimportant their opinion can be (if opinios are important at all, opinions are still opinions). Just dont know whats more unimportant than an oversea fans opinion who doesnt visit their lives.

  16. OP do you have a source for it being 11 new songs?

Am i reading this (link) right, when ordering by web-shop an additional 8cm single will be included and when buying at their live another DIFFERENT 8cm single will be inlucded?

Isnt it possible to order oversea from GALAXY BROAD SHOP? I didnt try it but they write (link):

    ● International Orders
We will use EMS to ship all international orders

  17. The production quality and the chorus of 昨日の怖い夢。 are so dissapointing. Their last single was top-notch, but this one catches up! 発狂のカルテ was the better of the 2 imo. Guess will be great live too.

This single style fits them so much better, their album and 2 minis are 90% trash with the same recycled structures and riffs over and over again, but also with 10% really amazing stuff..

Might watch them live next time if they dont play too much of that old stuff.
