They are often labeled "avantgarde black metal", which may be slightly misleading for the newer material, at least if your expectaions lie more on the "black metal" side. Either way, they are really underappreciated and I think more people should listen to them.

Sakurai gets my vote too. What I like about him is that he manages to sound a s good live as he does on record, actually I think that sometimes he sounds even better live. And you can hear how he improved a lot over the last 20 years. Personally I was always very fond of Yukiya (Jils, Kain, etc) as well. And there are other examples. I'll post more when I think of some.

That trailer was incredible cheesy. I like the preview of the song better than their recent material though.

Bad vk vocalists: everyone on this playlist. Just so you know how bad "bad" can get. Once you listened through all of it, every person mentioned on this thread so far will appear at worst mediocre, or as a musical genius at best.

^ Compared to the stuff on the playlist so far, that's actually a musical masterpiece. It's as well produced as you could expect from an indies band, the guys seem to have a fairly decent command of their instruments, and while the vocals are rather sub-par they don't cause painful convulsions of the eardrums either. Oh yeah, I know FollowBane. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I uploaded one of their albums waaay back on the old TW. I also know of Lost Eden and Vagerke and that kind of stuff, but nothing that ever really hit me. =/

My fave is Anthem, no doubt. Used to like Galneryus and Sex Machineguns too, though I haven't listened to them in a while. I would like to get more into japanese melodic death metal, except the obvious (Serpent, Sorrow of Tranquility), but I never found many, or any I liked ('cept Blood Stain Child, if you still want to count them and who I like a lot). So yeah, if anybody has any recommendations...
