  1. Coldrain's Masato but he was raised bilingually (like Utada)

Apart from that there's quite a few vocalists in those type of bands that either try their best, learned from being on tour, or are just fluent because they were raised bilingually. Another Story's Keigo, OOR's Taka, Crossfaith's Kenta, MFS's Hiro, Swanky Dank's vocalist, Noisemaker's vocalist etc etc...

  2. SEED and SEED Destiny never had split seasons. Both shows had one continuous run. The split season trend started with Code Geass, then Gundam 00 followed afterwards.

I'm sure you 100% knew what I meant with that. SEED Destiny is a second season to SEED, whether you want to ignore it or not. It wasn't split, it was simply a second season with a different lead at the start. 00 wasn't split either. It technically has an ending, with the second season doing a time jump into the future.

Also, I never mentioned anything about split seasons. Split seasons are what they've been doing more recently. Cutting off a story halfway through and being all like "HEHEHEH NOW WAIT A FEW MONTHS FOR THE ACTUAL ENDING". And you know that. (I mean, you're a Fafner fan, aren't you? What they did to Exodus, that was a split cour/season. It's nothing like SEED/Destiny or even 00.)

  3. Gundam Iron Blood Brothers - Another new gundam series that pays way too much homage to its numerous series beforehand. It's not bad, but it's not great. The first half was a slow start, but it got better. I'm surprised this a 24 episode  anime when it isn't even that strong. I'd rather have another season of Terraformars, One Punch Man, or Prison School. Something that merits another 12 episodes.

It's been hinted that this Gundam will be a two season one (like 00 and Seed/Seed Destiny) but who knows what it'll end up to be in the end anyway.

Terraformars will be getting its second season this year but I think the studio (or team at least) changed because the thing looks a lot less "serious" so far. I'm really not liking it all that much.

  4. Yeah, I'm not a fan of Denis's look in that video. The song is pretty good though. I like what was going on in the verses. It's definitely heavier than their " I Won't Give In" single, but I'm still waiting for that balls to the wall heavy material like on their first 2 albums.  I'm guessing they are saving that for the album.

It's funny because Denis's ex band reminded of all the good things I liked about AA. His look was better suited for AA then too.

I'm still curious what is going to happen to Down and Dirty. They only released 2 songs but they were very  promising.

If the new AA is anything like DD I'll be happy. All ready pre-ordered AA's new album.

I love those D&D tracks a lot, so while I wasn't surprised Denis went to AA, I'm kind of a little sad about him leaving D&D. I mean, who knows what could have been.

Either way, I think he's just fine as a new vocalist for AA and I'm fairly sure I'll finally be interested in their music again. AA's last few haven't been really doing it for me after all.

  5. Yeah because it's episodic so they can release episode 1 in 2017, although I haven't heard any concrete release window yet... where did you hear that it was coming out in 2017? rumor? source please?

I initially would predict that we would get episode 1 late this year since the game looked pretty far along in that demo they did at PSX but who knows... I'm really not looking forward waiting months possibly years for them release all the episodes so I can buy a complete physical copy all at once.... also there's the whole pricing debacle, like if they charge over $30 per episode that's gonna be retarded.

Fairly sure it was mentioned that each "episode" would have enough content to be seen as a full game so I dare say they'll be about the price of a regular game. Maybe just a little below. (Still wondering if they're going to put in DoC and/or CC somehow)

The first episode will most likely be released in 2017 because it'll be VII's 20th anniversary. Well, that's what most people are thinking at least.

I doubt they'll release anything of VII this year considering all the games that are coming this year. They won't cut into their own sales by having a close gap between XV and VII releases as a lot of people will want to buy both. And then there's still KH3 coming which I'm assuming would be end of this year or early next year. (but considering this is square, I guess anything's possible)

  6. If you are interested in playing old Persona's games, try first Persona 3 FES and after Persona 4, both are for PS2 only.

P3 has a version for PS3 on the PSN. That's how I was finally able to play as it was never officially released here for PS2. It has P4 too but I think that's just a stadium game? I'm not sure. Maybe it differs for me because I'm in Europe.

    --------

I've been waiting for FFXV since the first teaser in 2006 and I'm glad it's finally coming this year. I got Type-0's remaster with the XV demo when it came out last year (despite not having a PS4 at the time) and I've finally been able to play it in the past few weeks. Both are pretty fun though completely different games.

You don't know how much I love being able to hear the Japanese voices instead of the English ones though. (Partly because it's fun recognizing the VAs, partly because it's just done better).

Also waiting for P5, and KH3, among others. (I'm a pretty big Square-Enix games fan, I can't stop)

    --------

I pretty much own every main FF game starting with 6. Used to have a few on DS but I left them with a friend and never got them back. Same with the whole KH collection though I gave up on actually playing them on their original platforms. Just gimme the remasters for PS3. I'll be good.

Still waiting for a sequel of some sorts to TWEWY. Loved that game a lot. I'm kind of sad there's no playstation port or something, but I know that wouldn't ever work. I still need to play Dream Drop Distance so at least I'll get a somewhat decent quality Neku on my TV sometime soon.

  7. How did you feel about Concrete Revolutio? My friend was willing to give it a chance but he never got back to it. If it's any good I can tell him and maybe I'll check it out. I'm genuinely interested in finding great stuff to watch with what little free time I have, so if it does start to make sense at some point that's a plus in my book.

It took me a few episodes to actually start somewhat liking it. I'm at episode 9 now, so I still need to see if they've been able to keep it up though.

Noragami was good, though I'm confused as to why they decided to change things from the manga again. At least I'm fairly sure there'll be a 3rd season.

  8. I am stuck on episode two of D.Gray-Man because the art was just too atrocious to look at. Is it really such a masterpiece that I will be able to ignore this on the long run?

I loved DGM as an anime too but I think most of my love for it comes from the manga. I also watched this years ago so I doubt I'd be able to get myself to watch it for a first time now with the way it looks. It gets better through the episodes though.

I started watching One Punch Man and Subete ga F Ni Naru. I'm not that crazy about either, I'm already kind of tired of watching Saitama hit things and Subete's dialogue isn't not near as good/clever as they seem to think it is, but I was looking for anything that wasn't based on high school kids. I need to backtrack through this thread and see what went over well...

Subete takes itself way too seriously. I expected more. Way more. Tbh, I wouldn't waste my time with it. Really disappointing in the end imo.

  9. Conspiracy time. I reckon VII started development at the same time Nomura got taken off of Versus. I imagine they greenlit VII, assigned Nomura as the director, realised he couldn't handle three AAAs at once (Versus, KH3, and VII) and so they took him off of Versus and replaced him with Tabata. Then Nomura decided that he wanted to use the battle system he'd been using on Versus in VII, and so they decided to have Tabata just come up with his own action-RPG system for Versus instead. At that point they decided to just rebrand the latter game as XV since it was essentially becoming a different game anyway. This would explain why the gameplay in VII looks extremely similar to Versus' original gameplay (command-based action RPG, character switching, etc) whereas XV's has become increasingly different since Tabata took over (direct input-action RPG, no character switching, etc). It would also explain why the game looks so far along in development now. Rumours about Versus being canned and repackaged started making the rounds as early as 2012, so if my theory is even remotely close to being correct then VII should have had a decent amount of development time already.

Conspiracies aside, the game looks decent. I'm not a fan of the voice acting but otherwise it seems to be progressing nicely. I'm glad they had the balls to scrap the original battle system. I've never seen the point in remaking something but then keeping it exactly the same in all areas except for graphics; it's both shallow and a waste of time/resources that could have been spent on creating new things. I'm curious as to who's re-arranging the OST. They already said that it isn't Uematsu which is a good thing; he's just not a very capable arranger (hence why he doesn't even arrange his own compositions any more). It doesn't sound like Hamauzu too much based on that track, and I don't think they'd give a game of this scale and importance to Ishimoto. My only guess at the moment is Narita since he's one of Uematsu's most trusted arrangers (XIV, The Last Story, X HD). Either way, I'm excited to hear more from the OST.

EDIT: That track is from Distant Worlds, so disregard my comment about Hamauzu.

Considering it's VII and Ishimoto already arranged the songs for Advent Children/Crisis Core before, I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be involved too.

Also on the whole Nomura thing, I agree with that assumption. I do seem to remember they lost data at some point so if that had been anything concerning VS, then I'd understand it even more. XV is not VS, as they've mentioned before. It takes VS as a core but has gotten so much more to it. VS wasn't a flagship series installment anyway, and now it's been rebranded as XV it just means there's way more to it than it would originally have been. I'm still of the opinion this is a good thing, but that's also partly because I really love the setting and concept of the game so far.

What they could have also thought of is that the battle system they'd come up with would fit a VII remake more (if they were going to do one anyway) than it would have VS when it moved to being XV.

All that aside, I just hope all these games come with dual audio from now on. I need them with good voices. Please. Thanks.

  10.

THE FUCKIN HYPE IT LOOKS AMAZING

As predicted the gameplay isn't turnbased, but it still looks amazing nevertheless.

It looks amazing so far... Japanese version confirmed the Japanese VA for Cloud is back too so I'm incredibly happy about that as well ._. It better have dual audio.

Considering it's going current gen consoles, it's only logical the gameplay changed. No surprise there, nor do I mind. I'm all here for that.

  11. Marathoned Aldnoah Zero finally. That cliffhanger at the end of series one though. I wonder how long will Netflix get series two?

The original version of the story never had that happen at the end of the first season (probably wasn't even supposed to be a split cour either).

    ---------

Finally finishing Eureka Seven AO after nearly 2 years. This was a little overdue though I remembered why I stopped halfway through the series. I'm really no good with timeslips. It always feels like nothing but an easy way out when writers got themselves stuck without knowing what to do next.

  12. I've been a fan of coldrain since right before their first mini release, but I have to say that ever since they've been going up and down and never really managed to grab a style that is theirs and spread it across a full release. Now with the latest album, VENA, I do feel like they've slapped all of their previous releases together, and have finally found a sound that fits them best. I don't think I've ever listened to one of their albums on repeat as often as I've done with VENA already, even with how much I loved Final Destination back then.

Thanks for the reviews! Words of the Youth is definitely a fave of mine, as well as Runaway. Though that might be partly the fault of Jacoby because I still find it amusing they somehow decided a collab was a good idea.
