Yeah I still don't know how the NCT thing is going to work. SM seems to be doing quite a lot this year with this NCT mess and then the station thing.

but I admit this song was pretty good imo and the other was kinda lackluster.

btw I only focus on Shinee and f(x) in SM as well :'D

It should be something like AKB but on a smaller scale. Bigger group with members that get replaced whenever they please/SM wants to. Then in that there's subunits (in different genres, probably). This was partly what they had planned for Super Junior but the fans actually made them keep the same lineup instead of having the members "graduate". SM had no other option than to listen back then and members who just wanted to stay for a few years ended up stuck.

  2. So far I've started most of what I wanted to watch this new season.

Bungou Stray Dogs: I read the manga of this so I was a little hyped at it getting an anime. Looks good so far.

Endride: Can't say much yet other than that it's your obvious "I'M A DENSE KID IN A NEW WORLD AND I WANT TO GO HOME" plot. One of the main boys looks like his voice actor and since I can't unsee it, I've just been calling him by his voice actor's name instead.

Flying Witch: started this randomly. It's cute, I guess.

Gakusen Toshi Asterisk S2: I watched the first part, so I guess I have to watch the second part too. At least I'm glad we'll be seeing some more fighting.

Joker Game: Few minutes into the episode and I was totally sold tbh. Serious series don't show up too often, and it's always nice to see them done nicely.

Kiznaiver: Learned of its existence in the same way as I learned of Joker Game being a thing: they share the character designer (who's the managka of DOGS). Looks interesting so far.

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: This thing got more fear across in one episode than SNK did in 25. Main boy's got some guts, and I'm ready for more. When is it time for the next episode?

Kuromukuro: Not entirely sure why I started this but I guess it'll be my new mecha of the season.

Kyoukai no Rinne S2: Same thing as with Asterisk. I watched the first season, so why not the second. First season was entertaining after all. Nothing too serious or deep, but fun.

Macross Δ: Let me admit I'm mainly here for the (male) voice cast, but I won't say no to nicely animated mecha either.

Mayoiga: I don't really get how someone can write a script in which I get annoyed with every single character apart from one. But it is a thing.

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096: TV Anime cut of the original OVA episodes. Considering I never got myself to watch the last two episodes, I might as well just watch it again in one go.

Re:Zero: Now, while this plot might sound familiar because it's about a kid getting pulled to another world, that's not exactly what I thought about when watching the first episode. It's more the fact he's stuck in some kind of loop thing that makes it interesting. Animation's done well too. I'll keep watching this for now.

Seisen Cerberus: I should have known the main kid was going to be a mess.

Sousei no Onmyouji: I have no idea about the story (and tbh, the whole thing of them being fated to be together is a little lame) but I'm here for the fights and animation so far. I also totally get why Hanae was cast for the main role.

Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge: Listening to main boy talking with such a listless voice just makes me want to flop onto my bed and disappear into my mountain of pillows for the rest of the day.

Terra Formars S2: While I'm not really a Terra Formars fan and I have no idea why I'm even watching this, I'm still sad they changed the artstyle and animation. I liked the darker tone a lot more than this.

Still have to start Concrete Revolutio S2.

I'm watching way too many series again... Why do I do this to myself?

    I still can't access my profile... (Firefox) I am so sad. ;__;

What exactly can't you access though? I've always been using firefox and I've never had any issues considering my profile or going from the old to the new layout.

  4.

sigh... square why? This is even worse than I initially predicted, I knew they were getting greedy, but I never thought they would get this greedy xD

I'm fairly sure the game is just too insanely big when done as a remake for it to even be able to just be "a normal game." I don't think it's too weird it's coming out in multiple games unless you'd want to pay more for the it "as a whole."

Also "Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a pre-existing story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multi-part series... So if we're just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game." If one part of the game is going to be as big as FFXIII was, then why is it even weird it's split?

At the same time I'm still wondering what they're going to do with Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core. What if they'd add those games into the remake? It's content. It's part of the VII universe. Who knows.

Either way, I'm not saying square is doing everything right, but I won't judge or talk about being greedy till I have the thing in my hands and I can see what they made of it.

  5. Imo anime adaptations are usually crap though. I mean look at P4. It's possible that they could mess it up and reverse the hype. But it is a mini series so they may not show everything the game has in store. It could be something like a prepper as you said.

The anime series should just elaborate on how the four main guys met (Which probably won't be done in the game itself, or not fully) while the movie runs along the game but looks at the situation from the other side. Whatever you see in the movie happens at the same time you're out travelling with Noctis. (Or that's what I took from the presentation and articles at least) I'm not even sure the movie's coming out before the game will, but I doubt the anime will spoil much we don't know yet considering it's supposed to bring hype for the upcoming game.

  6. It's not like I know that much but let me tell you something about PENGUIN RESEARCH, Saku.

As far as I know they're literally a bunch of guys from the industry, who joined forces as a band. Main vocalist Ikuta Yoji used to do vids under the name of PENGUIN RESEARCH where he'd (cover) songs together with other random people/members. He'd usually play guitar himself, if I remember it right. This was before he quit his job and moved towards Tokyo to go for his music career in 2014. He has since worked on arrangements and compositions of music for a variety of (smartphone) games.

Last year he somewhat revived the band with new members. I think it was around the same time it was revealed that Yoji was added to the Band Yarouze! smartphone game/app in which you can find a variety of fictional bands. One of which, Blast, with Yoji's vocals. The other members are voiced by actual voice actors (Masuda Toshiki, Yamashita Daiki, and Ishiya Haruki in the case of Blast). That said, this is not the only voice actor project he's in (though I totally forgot what the other one was about. It was something about Princes and such together with Umehara Yuichiro among others). It seems that the guy himself is affiliated with an agency that manages a bunch of voice actors, and that one of his dreams is to become one himself as well.

Then sometime last year as well, a new song was revealed under the name of PENGUIN RESEARCH: Supercharger. It was the first track involving all the new members, and showing the new and updated style of the band revolving around Ikuta Yoji. This was actually not too long before I first heard about them.

At the end of last year it was then revealed that the band would be taking on the ending song of DRRR X2's last cour. With the end of said anime, there's also been the release of their first mini album just a few days ago, and the revealing of another anime tie-in with an opening song for this season's new Magi series.

That said, I'm totally loving their sound. Their mini's pretty good btw. Please check it if you haven't yet!

  7. Some people have been reacting negatively to the demo, in terms of performance, graphical quality, and dislike of the battle system. I'm not worried about performance, it's just a demo and I would hope the finished game will be better optimized. I should really try it for myself, but I don't have time this week. Whatever, we all know I will play FFXV regardless.

I don't have too much input since I have not played the demo yet, but in terms of the battle system being shat on, I'm pretty sure it's just the whiners who complained about wanting them to stay true to the Turn-Based battle system.

Environment looks amazing. I will play the demo when I get home Peffs and get back to you (I will also add you on PSN).

Played the demo last night (right after it was released) and it's pretty nice. I'm not really sure what people are disliking about it apart from, yes, "IT'S NOT TURNBASED SO THEREFORE IT SUCKS". Playing with a tiny wee Noctis was cute. There's not much to the demo as a whole but it all looked pretty nice and amazing. I can't wait for the full game tbh.

Square is going all out on this one and I'm loving it so far. The anime seems nice (well, the first episode did) and I'm totally ready for more SE-CG goodies.

  8. I am a Hero and loving every bit of it. Really makes me wish we had an anime or even movie adaptation of it already.

Just also started World Trigger and finally got back into One Piece. So much good stuff <3

I think the I am a Hero live action movie either just came out or is about to be released. Though I'm not sure if that's what you meant.

  9. who's the front guy? he cute

Masato! the vocalist. He's half Japanese/Caucasian American.

    Glad they are ok.

And also glad to see a Japanese band touring the US. I've said before these bands need to get out of Japan. No idea who Coldrain or Silverstein are but happy to see JRockers in America.

Silverstein's a pretty big and wellknown band in the rockscene in America. They're not Japanese!

Coldrain, OOR, FACT, Crossfaith, etc, I'm glad a lot of Japanese bands have been able to tour along with Western tours in the past few years.

    -----

Glad they're fine apart from some bruises probably. Seems they also got lucky the trailer with the instruments wasn't wrecked.

  10. I have a feeling I haven't been checking all that many releases yet this year but here goes for the few I have.

Also stealing that format for now.

    — ★★★★★ — "Can I get an Amen?!"

    amazarashi - 世界収束二一一六

Sawano Hiroyuki - TVアニメ「終わりのセラフ 名古屋決戦編」 オリジナルサウンドトラック (I might be a litte addicted to his latest few OSTs)

    — ★★★★☆ — "I'd be entirely bonkers if these weren't on my weekly charts."

    Girugamesh - 鵺-chimera-
PENGUIN RESEARCH - ジョーカーに宜しく (Just a single but I'm eagerly waiting for that mini later this month)

    — ★★★☆☆ — "Certainly priviliged enough to be shuffled through."

    SKY-HI - カタルシス

    — ★★☆☆☆ — "Do I recall ever even listening to these?"

Da-iCE - EVERY SEASON (Meh album. Hope the next is better)
Ono Kensho - STORY (Also just a single)

    — ★☆☆☆☆ — "I'd rather forget these releases exist, completely."

  11. Lol so unnecessary that ass, looks more like he hide the ball in the shorts.

Btw, talking about sports' anime, I want to began to watch "Haikyu!", did someone had watch it, it's worth?

I love HQ a lot. Both manga and anime. It's a great adaptation imo. It's much less flashy than things like Kurobasu and it focuses more on the growth of the teams though, if that's what you're searching for.

    ---

Something different but some voice actors just make me sad when they do their voicing well. I almost wanted to pat sad/upset pup (Yagami) Kimura on the head when I heard his comment at the end of this week's Prince of Stride episode.

  12. I've actually come to really love Japanese writers and I'm sure it all has to do with how they talk and write about things. American writers can hardly get me interested like that, and the only other big group of writers in my collection are mostly Scandinavian.

Both Murakamis are without a doubt among my faves (Piercing is great), though I think Kirino Natsuo's books are worth a read as well. So far I do think there's hardly been any of them that have gotten translated in English (I own three and I think a fourth is coming). Real World is probably her shortest and most "young adult" one but Out and Grotesque are quite a bit longer and deeper (With Out definitely being a fave)

I also own a novel by Minato Kanae called Confessions, which is what the 2010 movie of the same name was based on.

More recently I also got Yoshida Shuichi's Parade (I think he migh have also written Villain) which, again, is the original book the movie of the same name was based on. I haven't finished it yet but so far it's been a pretty nice read.

Then there's Suzuki Koji who's responsible for the original books of Ring, Spiral, Dark Water and quite a few more (whatever you do, don't read Loop. It's pretty terrible) He was actually the one who got me back into reading near the end of my secondary school career. For some reason our library had English versions of the books and well, I got kind of stuck. (The books are so much better than the movies though. Lead in Ring is a guy, not a girl, so that gives a whole different feel to it. They're also not really horror, more thriller imo)

Can't forget to mention Battle Royale (by Takami Koushun). I'm so terribly sad the writer never did anything else even though it was said at the time that he was in fact writing something. I kind of feel like he might have taken on a penname and has been writing under a different name ever since. I mean, the success of Battle Royale was so immense that it would be kind of scary to try and top that, no? This is also one of my fave novels ever and I should really do a reread of it sometime.

There's only one Japanese writer I've tried so far who really just bores the hell out of me and that's Higashino Keigo. No matter whether I'm watching dramas/movies based on his works, or reading his actual novels, I just end up wanting to throw things around.

And oh, special mention for Otsu-ichi. He mostly writes short stories and such, but I've liked pretty much everything he's done and I've gotten my hands on. Both Zoo and Goth are pretty great (with the latter being an all-time fave)

Also, Beni, you're better off reading every other Murakami book. Norwegian Wood isn't bad but it misses a lot of typical Murakami-ness.

  13. Was most recently obsessed with Noragami, hopefully a season three is coming.

Most anticipating the Handa-kun anime though.

I'm fairly sure the voice actor for Yato messed up somewhere and partly revealed a season three is on the way.

The Handa-kun anime should be a total Handa-mess. It's going to be great.

Also, totally off-topic (or maybe slightly not) but every time I see your icon I'm just screaming "IT'S KOJOU" in my head.

    ----

I've ended up being pretty much "meh" at everything this season. It's really weak. I haven't experienced a season this weak in like... three years? So far the only ones I've really been loving/liking are Hai to Gensou no Grimgar, Dimension W, and Boku Dake ga Inai Machi.

The only other ones really getting my attention are just the leftovers from previous seasons like Diamond no Ace, Heavy Object and Haikyuu. I guess Prince of Stride is somewhat amusing. If only for the stellar cast of voice actors.

I can't wait for Spring Season tbh.
