  1. Liking Eunjung's first solo effort, this K Will version is so much better than with that one rando dude

Random dude is not so random. He's SPEED's new member and they're having a comeback this week!

Might just be me but I've been bored with pretty much everything these days. Hyunseung's solo was nice. BTS's comeback too. Apart from those I'm not feeling any.

  2. I've only watched two out of three Kekkai Sensen episodes so far but I have to agree with Saku. That first episode was done really well.

I've been finishing series here and there which had been recommended to me and the latest one has been Kimi ni Todoke. Both the first and second season. Why am I doing this to myself? I don't care one bit for romance stories (Unless you let me be shallow for a bit and have Sakurai (Kyoya in Ookami Shoujo) or Kaji (Kou in Ao Haru Ride) voicing the bratty lead boys) Either way, they were decent for what they are and I can somewhat see why so many people love it. So many facepalm worthy moments though. So many.

Also finally watching more Toaru Majutsu no Index and Phi Brain's second season next to all the currently airing ones. I feel I'm trying to find my way in an ocean of wrecks with little worthy lifeboats sometimes though.

  3. ^ I'm gonna assume you misunderstood my comment there. What I meant was, how is that character a GUY when they portray him in the most feminine art style. If I show that screencap to people who have never seen of heard of the show, they immediately think it's a chick.

I didn't misunderstand. I really meant what I said as in "He's 12 at the start. Whether he looks a boy or a girl doesn't really say much. It might change as he becomes older in the series."

That doesn't mean I don't agree with you though.

  4.

I agree with your assessment on Garo. It was a good ride, but the kind that took a little too long to get started and also had that weird curveball with his armor and his mother at the end that they didn't explain. I also like Diamond no Ace and I'm hyped for the new season because I don't know what's going to happen. I thought it would be a while until the next season but it's coming out this week! Much excite.

Also do you know how many episodes this second season will cover?

Considering the first season was extended for half a year at some point, I doubt there's already a certainty of how many episodes this one will get. I'd guess it'll get anywhere between 26 and 52 episodes, but if the story picks up again, it could really be anything. The manga has just been on a break for a while and they're heading into the second year, getting new first years and such. It's not ending any time soon. (Though I do think this "year" will be the last one. There will be no meaning to Daiya if they can't win Koshien with the battery that is Eijun/Miyuki. That's what the whole thing started with anyway.)

  5. Durarara!!x2 Shou

Another show ended... for now. Durarara is a strange one, but in a entertaining way. It feels like each scenario presented in each ep are pieces to a big upcoming puzzle. It was a bit of a tough watch in the beginning due to the large cast of characters and it's been years since I saw the first show. The ending though, that was quite a cliffhanger there. Next season will air around July.

    ?/10

It's because technically it is a puzzle, isn't it? This season adapted volumes 4-6 of the light novels, and the first season did 1-3. There's another 7 volumes to be adapted in the next two seasons, and the second arc of the light novels (which is a year after the first arc I believe) is already on its 3rd (?) volume. (which means another potential anime adaptation in the works if they feel like it)

Can't wait for the January season ._. it's going to be good.

    -----

Finished Garo and Diamond no Ace last night. Garo ended up being better than expected. Nothing too great or special, but a fun watch I guess. Daiya is just like any other sportsanime (without superhero powers and attacks). If you like it you'll continue to watch it, if you don't care for the sports-type ones, then don't bother. I really liked it, and Eijun's really grown on me as a main character. I'm kind of ready for the next season but I'm also kind of not because I know what's going to happen.

  6. Damn I'm really surprised by how much I'm into Garo: Honoo no Kokuin... At first I thought it was gonna be a semi-average show but the more i watched the more I really started to like the series, characters, plot, setting, ect. It's now gotten to the point where every episode is just a pleasure to watch and I can't wait for the next one to come. Also the OST has really got me addicted right now while I watch the show, I can't wait for March, 11th when it finally releases.

basically I'm saying this show is definitely underrated and might even be considered a hidden gem, or at least in my eyes it is.

Not going to say it's a hidden gem. It has too many flaws in my opinion (+ ridiculous moments that still make me go ????) BUT... I do have to agree that the more I've been watching of it, the more I've been stuck to it. I'm totally all here for bb Leon. (Even when he sounded like a depressed Oikawa before)

  7. apparently MAL has it as a 1Cour (13 episodes) but everywhere else says 2Cour (26 episodes), also in the actual BD's it only lists the first 13 episodes, there's talk that's it's probably a split cour so we'll get one cour now and then they'll take a season break and then we'll get the second cour.

here's a topic on MAL discussing it; http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1339209

I'm just glad they decided to do this show at all xD

Yeah, I expect a split cour at least. I can kind of understand it though. This series hasn't had a running season in 10 years. Splitting it would mean they have another three months to gather interest for the second part.

And same here! I really like the whole Soukyuu universe even though it's a mess and one of the most depressing mecha series I've ever watched but... I like it!

  8. I kno rite? I've been really enjoying Fafner Exodus as well <3 I just wish it was gonna be a 2 cour instead of a 1, but it seems that they are handling it pretty well right now, who knows we might get another cour sometime soon if this does well.

If this isn't a mistake and it's going to be 1 cour for real, another one will be up for sure. Soukyuu is slow. One cour isn't going to tell the whole story, and it was always said it was going to have 25 episodes anyway :/

  9. Oh boy.... where do I begin?

Shigatsu had a great start in the first 3 eps. I love the music placements and the overall visuals. It seemed like a promising show with a generic cast of characters if executed well. Unfortunately, it doesn't bring anything new to the table. It's another case of style over substance.

The show took a nosedive for me when those bitches (Kaori & Tsubaki) forced Kousei to publicly humiliate himself. It doesn't matter if he's a piano genius, a musician needs to practice the score before performing. It's obvious Kousei isn't motivated to go back playing piano and yet these so called "friends" of his keep forcing him. That is like the worst way to develop your main protagonist. Putting music sheets literally everywhere he goes is downright borderline bullying and the show passes it off as something comedic which is completely unfunny. Speaking of that, the show is so consistent with its inconsistency of its tone. All these gags that comes outta nowhere really kills the serious moments. Kousei getting hit by something and bleeds as a result is NOT funny at all. And to add more WTF-ness to this problem, he accepts it as if it was no big deal to him. That's another problem with this show, Kousei as the main character is like a battered wife just accepting these things with no objections. The writing boggles my mind going from ass backwards scenarios to just downright emotionally manipulative. When the story pulled the slow death card on Kaori, I was facepalmed that they were pulling this cliche that's been used in so many asian dramas as a plot device to motivate the characters. I could on and on with the problems of this show but this is a brief overall thoughts so far. Reading this guy's blog helped me realize most of it. http://www.lostinanime.com/search/label/Shigatsu%20wa%20Kimi%20no%20Uso

If I were to describe Shigatsu to someone, I would say it's like Beats headphones - A mediocre product wrapped around with beautiful packaging. I understand why people love this show, but it's not working for me. It's trying really hard to get back up on its feet with the current episodes. The struggle is real in this one.

I actually understand where you're coming from, and I agree on the bullying part. The fact that he accepts it comes forth from the way he's grown up, I'm sure. Though he hates how his mom acted towards him, he still blames himself for things. I think rather than accepting everything it's just more of a feeling that he needs to. Tsubaki annoys the hell out of me, and Kaori's working for selfish reasons (as you'll learn later).

Kaori's character fits with what this story is ultimately about though, seeing as it's nothing but Kousei's struggle into learning how to hear music again and detaching himself from the ghost of his mother and his past as a prodigy. Finding all the reasons and small bits that made him lose his feeling as a whole. People needing drama to overcome another drama isn't odd either.

All in all I'm really enjoying this series and it's a definite 9 for me. It's just done really well.

We also can't really forget these kids are still middle school kids. The people who should put an end to what is (borderline) bullying aren't necessarily the kids themselves but the adults looking out for them. Not everyone realizes it's wrong when they're still that age (even though they should). The series should have had an additional storyline touching that, which it sadly doesn't have.

Still doesn't make Code Geass not a terrible piece of shit ^__^

Code Geass is one of the most boring series I've ever watched and I'm still really confused as to why everyone loves it so much.

  10. There are in fact at least three anime's airing right now that I would rank as 9/10 or above (at this point in time), that everybody should be watching.

those are; Akatsuki no Yona, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, and Sanzoku no Musume Ronja.

I don't even mean this in a biased way, all three of these shows are just objectively good. Although all three of these are from the season before this one so... it still doesn't have anything to do with this season being "crap" as far as new shows go  I thought I would throw this out there though for anyone who might have overlooked these gems.

Everything about Shigatsu is done so incredibly well that I'm just in awe the whole time ._.

I strongly disagree with Shigatsu but to each their own.

Can I ask what it is you don't like about it? I'm curious!

  11. The past few episodes of Fafner Exodus has been absolutely incredible in the action department. I was really surprised to see out of all the people to die first was Yumiko. However it seems like she's been assimilated that's somewhat similar to the same vein as Kazuki's mother. Who knows, we'll have to find out in the next ep.

I personally don't really care about spoilers and I know most of the Soukyuu crew won't survive (in good old Soukyuu fashion) but I'm sure that better gets a spoiler tag, don't you think? :)

  12. The only problem I have is how boring the audience tends to be, and that's the only thing that would prevent me from seeing them live in the first place. There was one show I went to where the audience was good, NYC in 2009, other than that it's always the same: people pack in, wrap their arms around rail, every one behind them packs in like sardines, and once the show starts no one moves. People are more worried about their view of the band than they are the experience of hearing them perform live. Add to that the sheer horror from members of the audience when a pit gets started, and it just ends up as awkward for everyone.

At that point there is little reason to see them live.

Wow, I've seen them 4 times since 2007, and every single time I've had to try not to end up with too many bruises from all the guys in the pit/moshes/whatever else they come up with. The first time might have been a transition between the VK fangirls and the *core fans in which I remember a VK girl staring us down so hard because we'd accidentally touched her as the guys behind us were being too rowdy, but the other times were pretty much regular gigs.

A gig where there is no movement wouldn't be a gig for me tbh.

  13. From what I've heard, each one is gonna be single cour... but still that's at least 36 episodes right there! I agree though about being so hyped for each new episode, when watching I feel like it's 2010 again watching the first season xD every episode just feels like it's full of so much excitement and wonder and I'm very interested to see where it's all going, one of the things I love the most so far is learning about all the new characters :)

Well, I haven't found a specific place where it's confirmed to be one cour. Also, the first season adapted 3 novels. There's 13 in total and the next three seasons should cover the other 10. So It's kind of weird they'd cover 3 novels in 13 episodes.

Either way, we're in for a ride. I spoiled myself too much during the wait for the novels to be translated and I'm already hyped up to see all the things happen in animated form!
